Galakrond’s Awakening has been fully out for over a week now, and the meta seems to be MOSTLY figured out. While we still might get a unicorn deck that beats everything in Tier 1 out of nowhere, I wouldn’t hold my breath for it. And given that no deck is particularly overpowered and the meta is quite balanced (of course, not every class has enough representation, but it’s less of a problem than one class/deck completely dominating), I don’t expect any balance updates until next expansion hits.
Talking about next expansion, it’s only ~1.5 months away and we should start getting some big, big announcements soon. It should begin with Hall of Fame & Standard Year announcements, which historically came late in February. That’s why we suspect that we’ll hear something by the end of next week. Then, a new expansion’s teasers should follow pretty soon after – sets are usually announced roughly a month before their release, so early-mid March in this case.
And let me just tell you that there’s A LOT to announce this time around. You might have heard the news or rumors about Hearthstone summit taking place earlier this week. This is true, and we’ve also been there. While we can’t give you any details, believe us that what you will hear will blow your minds.
We were also promised a bigger Battlegrounds patch. No precise date was given, but we still suspect that it might come out next week or early in March. They most likely won’t want to drop it too close to next set’s release. We don’t know whether there will be any Standard content released too, but when it comes to BG, we expect a few new Heroes/minions or even the introduction of Dragons (which were teased multiple times in the past).
