3/5 stars. Can be a nice pick for the arena, but in constructed, is too unreliable for drawing and a bit weak for a 6 drop.

I’m not a wild player so I might be wrong, but the possibility of summoning 3 or 4 bodies on 1st turn with Zoolock seems nice to me.

1 Kobold Librarian + 2 Happy Ghoul (and an extra Flame Imp with coin).

    I reckon it’s 3/4 cards out of 6 to start with but still… 🙂

who cares as warlock you are always damaged you basicly start the game with -2 hp + 1 card. They should make it like default 😀
Effects like these are very sweet when they happen. It is a demon its stats are not bad but its mana cost is bad :D. You could count that twouards your discard cards. Its like whenever you discard this gain health. With the little bonus of getting the health even without discarding it :D. And cards like earthern ring farseer were run just because your health total is low. And bouble this thing is heal for 8. With plot twists you can potentially heal 16 more health. For a total of 24 hp for almost no cost.
You will hate getting this card in your oponeng hand. And plot twist is not that stable archetype for now . You may wat a bit more value to start playing this right away

I don’t think so. It is way understtated. You do not run 6 mana rotten applebaum and win in arena. Blizz even made a guide awhile back on what you should expect from your 5+ mana cost cards. And this is not that good. Silence beats most of the big taunt minions and this is not even worth silencing. you want your taunts to be more flexible and in arena you cannot cheet its effect. While in constructed you can afford to howd dead cards. I have never seen a lock complain a card was stuck in his hand for too long. And bank oh a potential reno like effect.
The bad thing of this card is that if it was cheeper it could synergize with glinda at least for some cheep echo taunts.
I do not see people picking this card to actually pay its cost :D. It is a good filler card because of the draught. Maybe later it can synergize with more things.

I think this should be discounted due to the fact that you can’t control when the heal happens and that it’s moderately likely to be wasted… instead it’s less mana efficient than Rotten Applebaum. Adding insult to injury, Applebaum is neutral while this is class-specific.

Unless some Plot Twist combo makes it so you’re regularly benefitting from the draw effect multiple times, I doubt this’ll see constructed play. 2/5

Difference is applebaum heal is silenceable along with it’s taunt this can heal even if it’s taunt is silenced. Given the demon tag it’s also targetable by warlock buffing spells. Put it in wild and it joins list of cards summonable by skull of manari. The thing to remember is power is being downsized for standard with more focus on late game plays.

Fair points, but I still think Applebaum is the better card, at least in Standard where there is no Mal’ganis, Skull of the Man’Ari, and so on.

I think your also forgetting warlock is losing alot of taunt power as well for standard especially non zoo warlocks. For that reason alone this will probably be played. Otherwise the only warlock decks anyone is going to play is zoo and then you basically made it into a class with only one deck type anyone bothers with. Before we had zoo, cube, and even all seeing reasonable play.

Not really. If Warlock needs taunts, then that’s not a reason to add Silverback Patriarch to your deck; you want good taunt minions. I don’t think this card is quite as bad as Silverback Patriarch, but I do think that it’s worse than other alternatives.

The best taunt options for Warlock, IMO, will be: Zilliax > High Priestess Jeklik > Arch-Villain Rafaam > Hecklebot > Witchwood Grizzly > Rotten Applebaum > Omega Defender. And that’s just counting taunt minions, because Sunfury Protector works great with Twilight Drakes and Mountain Giants.

If I kept going down the list, I would eventually get to Aranasi Broodmother, but she’s so far down that I’d never actually put her in a deck.

Guys, this card has ok stats and effect, but for me it’s a hidden gem!

It is searchable with sense demons, so you can get the heal on demand!
You can get the trigger multiple times, if you shuffle and draw it again with plot twist.
Also, you get the heal without playing it and then you can swap it for a legendary with Rafaam.

I don’t think this card will see play past the first few weeks of experimentation. People will just run Applebaum instead because it costs less, and has a controllable effect. 1/5

Difference is if silence applebaum your out a heal and a taunt, heal may not be on demand with this but it can’t be stopped so during mid to late game this is good to draw into.unless you in wild and even warlock then you could pull in early game for benefit to recover from HP.

Why everybody starts to heal themself except priest?

    • Lluadian
      April 1, 2019 at 1:30 pm

Warlock is more conditional heals and tend to require a sacrifice to trigger. Priest have 6 cards that can heal their hero plus their hero power. Also for most part only classes that are known for healing are getting healing cards resto druid, holy pally, holy priest, even shaman has healer specialty. Warlocks also are known for some forms of self healing by draining life of others there’s also healthstones. Basically a warlock having small healing capabilities isn’t that out there. Just glad about druid bit because all really had as druid was the balance (malygos) druid and the feral (armor) druid.

Hmmm, this seems way over costed for the stats. Absolutely horrible card to mulligan or draw on turn 1 or 2.

Really the best case scenario is that you draw it late game and then turn it into a legendary with Rafaaam.

I don’t understand why this card has such negative reviews.

Some years ago ANTIQUE HEALBOT was a stapple.
    Body: 3/3
    Cost: 5 mana.
    Battlecry: heal 8 health

    Aranasi Brood Mother
    Body: 4/6
    Cost: 6 mana.
    Draw effect: heal 4 health

So, for one more mana you get 1 more atack and 3 more health. And just for drawing the card you restore half the health ANTIQUE HEALBOT did.

    I don’t think it’s that bad…

Tbh that was gvg and power creep has been insane since then. I doubt you’d see that card played much in standard these days.

The effect is a lot worse because you can’t choose when to play it. Getting this in your opening hand is going to suck. It’s a 4/6 taunt for 6 mana. Would have been great in a world with the Skull, but looks underpowered now.

      • Electronick
        April 1, 2019 at 11:19 am

Oh and even when you draw it late, it’s a massive tell to your opponent.

Warlock is going to need a lot more than this for survivabilty after losing spellstone.

Antique Healbot is still played in Wild, if it’s a good card in the higher-powered format it would certainly see play in Standard today

        April 1, 2019 at 1:35 pm

Even if it’s in opening hand we have plot twist now to put it back in the deck that is the thing about this card you can trigger it multiple times because up to 2 times you can force it back in the deck. Depending on how works out you can put even more copies back in deck with Elekk.

          April 1, 2019 at 1:38 pm

Don’t get me wrong, I love that combo more than anything..I’m just not sure how viable that is. I hope I’m wrong because we really need a lot of healing.

          • Lluadian
            April 1, 2019 at 1:50 pm

In theory it can work decently well take into account it covers for using the HP twice put this in even warlock for wild and you have the perfect set up considering how often you use HP and and plot twist can help search for Giants and Drake if got stuck in bottom of deck.

        • TardisGreen
          April 1, 2019 at 1:47 pm

I’m neither convinced this taunt is any good, nor convinced that Plot Twist is any good.

One thing I am sure of is that putting bad cards into a deck because they have synergy with other bad cards is just bad.

          • Lluadian
            April 1, 2019 at 1:52 pm

Even warlock covers for HP and Giants and such sometimes get stuck at bottom of deck.

        • Electronick
          April 2, 2019 at 5:52 am

I agree that it may have likely made an even warlock deck, although you’d have to consider the anti-synergy with the hooked reavers….actually scrap that, I’m not it would have made that list.

          • Lluadian
            April 2, 2019 at 6:08 am

Thing about hooked reaver was required 15 or less health abd even warlock is popping HP and self dmg so much being around 15 health isn’t hard you still ran heal based cards in even lock to recover after dropping hooked or when got to much lower.

Dead Man’s Hand Warlock with 2 plot twist, 2 Elekk, and this in hand for infinite resources and theoretically infinite heals. Probably no great but who knows.

I just see another clone of Applebaum Tree, expect it has the Opposite effect. Instead of a Deathrattle, it’s not even a Battlecry, it’s when you draw this card. So in Theroy it’s actually a worse version of Applebaum. Boy, is this card barely going to see any play.

Even if Warlock had some sort of Shuffle effect along with Brood Mother, I’d still say that it’s too slow. It’s trying to become a Poorman’s Jeklik. 2 Stars, just because MAYBE some Warlocks out would see some experimentation for like the first 3-7 days or so, then nobody plays it up until 4 months at least, or if some crazy Meta comes out and it spikes the power of Brood Mother.

The trick is, you steal one of these with the burgle rogue cards then shuffle 800 of them into your deck then play Myra’s UE for reno.
Best combo ever 10/10 would combo again

  13. Dynasty
    April 1, 2019 at 9:34 am

    as a 5/6 this would’ve been pretty decent but a 4/6 i dunno… not that great.

  14. Xopods
    April 1, 2019 at 9:28 am

I like the concept of cards that are underpowered when played but have a bonus when you draw them… however, I can’t see this particular card getting much play, because the draw effect isn’t powerful enough to make up for the low stats and the fact that you won’t have control over when you get the heal. Most of hte time you’re going to have better cards to play than this, so it’ll be a dead card in your hand. That, in turn, means that in many situations it’s really just equivalent to a 0-Cost spell to heal yourself for 4, which would probably never go in any deck.

      *Cough *Cough Flash of light….

      • Lluadian
        April 1, 2019 at 1:42 pm

Flash of light draws a card I believe you meant to compare to regenerate that heals for 3 at 0 cost.

        • Xopods
          April 2, 2019 at 7:39 am

I don’t think either comparison is really valid. Flash of Light draws a card from your deck, i.e. something that’s likely to be good. Regenerate draws nothing. A 4/6 Taunt for 6 is better than nothing, but worse than a card from your deck… More crucially, though, both of those healing effects are at your discretion in terms of target and timing, while this is not. Targeted healing effects are useful for both board control games and damage races, while healing your hero is only useful in the latter…

A closer parallel is perhaps something like Guardian of Kings, which is of course garbage that no one plays. This is better than that for a few reasons, of course, but still not good enough to see much play IMO.

            April 2, 2019 at 8:23 am

If you want a similar card mage flame Leviathan 7/7 nuked everybody for 2 when drawn that wasn’t a controllable card either and I wasn’t around to know if it saw play, but this you can set up for even if it’s in opening hand 1 use of plot twist and it means most likely when shows again it will heal you. The fact that the heal cost you nothing means the taunt is a bonus like say it’s turn 7 and you need just one more turn to drop twisting nether. Considering warlock is losing several of it’s healing tools and there isn’t much of anymore this expansion this has a lot of value.

  15. Lluadian
    April 1, 2019 at 9:26 am

Looks like warlock strategy this time is split up between draw triggers, deck power and zoo uses. It’s a good card considering the heal when draw not like having in Mulligan is an issue it still has taunt and you have a card that can shuffle it back into the deck. Overall it’s rather decent also this goes to show wild even lock is getting another boost since that deck is all about spamming hero power. Seems to be a theme ATM getting alot of cards to support a few decks that are in or going to wild

  16. Ruhzi
    April 1, 2019 at 9:14 am

Worse in stats for the cost than Applebaum, but has a demon tag so it could be pulled by skull and voidcaller.

Applebaum has a deathrattle whilst this dosent even need to be played. 4/5 i think Applebaum is better tho

    • Ruhzi
      April 1, 2019 at 9:16 am

forgot to say that this dosent even heal if you draw it on 1 or 2.

  17. Omnitarian
    April 1, 2019 at 9:12 am

The stats aren’t TERRIBLE – Rin could be a surprisingly good Taunt on curve, for instance. But this effect is just ok. Biggest downside is that it does nothing if you get it in your mulligan or earlygame or when you’re topped off on health already.

You can use Sense Demons or Plot Twist with this for (slightly RNG) spot healing, which ain’t bad. But not great either.

With the Warlock cards so far there’s a clear “when you draw…” theme they’re pushing for Gul’dan. Not sure how good any of em are, but the idea’s kinda cool.
