This is quite bad. Assassinate/polymorph/hex are all much more efficient cards for dealing with anything worth removing, and while the comparison the sw pain is valid, sw pain is also a bad card that isn’t run in any priest deck anywhere, since using a card to deal with a 3-attack minion is bad against aggro and useless against anything else. This is unplayable in standard and pretty bad in arena; both shadow words are superior.

(Rating based on play it will see in the upcoming meta, similar to trump’s ratings)

    4 Stars

Very strong card which will be run in ever priest deck. Will priest have a viable control deck with psychic scream rotating out? Maybe, but probably not tier 1.

4 stars as a powerful card in a probably tier 2 deck.

Kills 4-attack minions in priest. 5/5 must have.

As Jed said in an earlier comment, 4/12 dragons now can be removed far more easily. Beyond that, it’s flexible, it’s good, and I could see it being played. 4/5

Flexible- YES. However its one of those cards that were designed to fit the gen/baku archetype that is going into wild. 0 mana cards can be used by both, so if gen and baku were left into the standart this would have been good. But they are not and i am not replacing my potion of madness for low power removal. The main reason priest was bad at removing 4 powered cards is that considering your hero power those minions will only do 2 dmg to your face, making them not that big of a deal to remove.
Silence is much better option since it does not waste all your mana after use and now that radiant is going into wild this is not a good card.
Compared to the Forbidden spells from the previous expansion they were complete and utter failure. I have no idea why are they going back. They were epic cards in most cases and were rarely used. Usefull card but not worth the epic value at most. So priest is not the only class with 2 forbidden word cards. This is not better than shadow word pain nor shadow word death. And both are rarely used. This is supposed to be a weaker than common card but with rare quantity so priest lost one of th eslots for a descent spell. And there is barely any goof 4 attack minions you would like to remove exept ysera.
On the flip side, as i have mentoned it before priest is becoming more and more of a dust donor class. All you need to play priest is barns and y’sharaj + the revival spells and you are good. All other cards to craft cards or the other classes. And as the devs have sayed each villian will bring a mechanic from the past and a scheme ( so jelaous that rogues got a one mana gang up that is also a scheme) But this expansion we have 2 factions one will get schemes and lackeys and the other will get twinspells. That means that priest will get a OP scheme card. Despite the fact that twinspells are amazingly good in priest, Since they are basicly for control decks. Whitch means that wild priest control decks are going to get even weaker than the other control classes, The good thing is that control decks are dead so no biggie there too.
The thing i like about the new troll character is that her face is not the same every time they show her. I find that hillarious, not shure about you folks.
The old god lackey is the weakest one of thm all so we see priest getting pery poor start for the year. Cloning gallery priest is going to retire since radiants and lyra are not there to fill in the value when your OTK fails. Baku priest was supposed to be a thing whitch is now a wild thing and lets be fair its not better than barns y’sharaj.
Overal not very impressive. I do not want to say bad becouse you get free dust :). No hero cards meant priest just lost their chance to get OP legendary that will bring justice to the fact that raza shadow reaper anduin is dead for all times becouse of the nurf to raza. Shadow reaper anduin is the only knoght of the frozen throne DK card that is not usefull or usable.
I know good things are going in priest becosue of the scheme card. And the legendary card can be a powerhouse. So i am still exited about what the new expansion will bring. Maybe priest will be interesting class to play after all those years.

Not all the forbidden was bad there was an interesting thing with the mage one if you had spell dmg minion on the field you could do that much dmg even with 0 Mana. So you didn’t have to waste a turn for 1 card.

well i liked forbidden ritual the most anyway. And forbidden healing was a good spash card but not a meta defining nor deck archetype defining. But the rest were not good. I know Forbidden shaping was really good for getting tyralion or ragnaros but in wild this card sees no play. And none of them sees play whatsoever. You can still splash forbidden healing into some OTK or control pala but you will never want to have 2 of those trust me.
They had very much undeserved qualllity for their effects. All of them for shure. And spell power minions are not used that often. Only pettal rogues use those. This is not better than death nor silence. whitch are still part of the standart pool. Its not better than potion of madness. It is not un improvement to the priest archetype. Priest had plenty of ways to deal with 4 attack minions. Priest has plenty of mass board removals regardless of the minions attack. And 4 attack is not that threatening for a class that can heal every turn.

You are not correct on the 0 mana baku/genn thing. 0 is a even number in hearthstone.

when baku and genn came up the devs announsed speciffically that 0 mana cards count for both. As zero is nothing, its neither even nor odd.

zero is actually an even number so just go look that up and have the internet explain it to you, he is right, just go try it out instead of relying on what the devs said a year ago.

U got it wrong, when released they said that 0 would count as an even card

Idk what “Devs” you were watching but 0 is an even number irl and an even number in hs

Just a Solid Removal, although the Lost of your Mana Crystals for it is a bit of a bummer, but I’d say it’s fair enough.

      March 15, 2019 at 5:36 pm

It’s not really a loss this can kill anything with 0 to 10 attack it doesn’t stop you playing other cards you just need enough Mana remaining to kill it at 10 Mana you can spend 6 and still be able to kill a 0 to 4 attack minion

      • Minti
        March 18, 2019 at 12:47 pm

well it can remove doomsayer for free. Although silence does the same kind of 😀

          March 18, 2019 at 1:05 pm

Depending on the class silencing it can be better since leaves a dead minion slot.

Removal of 4 attack gives this decent value and all forbidden means is to use just enough Mana before playing it not bad as a late game topdeck card either.

    -4/12 dragons-
“Finally, a removal spell for me!”
    *laughs in priest*

Assassinate is a 5-mana spell that kills anything. Also, no one uses it; single-target removal spells people actually use are spells like Walk the Plank, Polymorph, Hex, SW: Death, Sap, Execute, Hunter’s Mark, Shield Slam… basically, 1 to 4 mana cost spells. This spell is therefore cost effective against 1 to 4 attack minions. Super good vs. Secret Mage, triggers Counterspell for 0 mana.

Spending all your mana is annoying though; maybe you want to cast this then have 2 mana leftover to heal your Wild Pyro, or you want to trigger an enemy deathrattle then play a minion, or you want to cast this first to play around a secret like killing Misha then triggering explosive trap before you play a minion… BUT you can’t because this consumes all your mana even if you’re killing a 0-attack doomsayer, so it screws up your sequencing. 3/5.

it’s a priest card – that makes the difference here.

it’s hard to compare the powerlevel of priest cards with cards from other classes.

    • KublaiMBP
      March 19, 2019 at 6:16 pm

Removal is here highly class subjective. Any board clears or single target removal is welcome in priest. Also comparing rogue spells to priest is stupid. Control archetypes of rogue, if they exist under the heading of deathrattle rogue (more midrange) are not effective enough to be on my radar. Eg Warlock has some of the best board clear spells in the game, so they leave out cards like 8 mana deal 5 dmg to all minions and doom destroy all minions, draw a card for each destroyed which would be fringe cards in classes like mage, hunter, druid, priest, or paladin for control builds.

        March 20, 2019 at 7:11 am

Yeah, it depends on class for sure. If this was a Druid spell, I’d give it 5 stars instantly. But Priest already has some of the best removal options in the game, so this looks like a slightly better version of SW:Pain. Is it worth it to play a slightly better version of a card that isn’t played? In the case of this card, I expect the answer is yes for slower archetypes (Control / Combo), and no for faster archetypes (midrange, minion-centric decks like Dragon Priest)

Yeah, draw even comes into it with this card – I see it potentially being played in nzoth/quest Reno priest (not dragon or otk archetype) and just maybe sneak into big priest although it’s unlikely. It’s a fringe card but I just had to point out the ineptitude of comparing rogue class cards to other classes.

Forbidden Words is a very flexible piece of removal and could easily replace Shadow Word: Pain for the next couple years. Too bad Twilight Acolyte will never share a Standard format with this card.

Plus, it finally allows Priests to effectively deal with four attack minions.

The advantage I see about this card is its flexibility. Sure, it’s way worse than PW: death, however PW: death is usually useless against aggro decks. Similar goes for PW: pain of course. Also, this can destroy a 4 attack minion, like Ysera or Malygos for instance. That is something priest always had trouble with.

It’s a little more appealing than Shadow Word: Pain, but only a little bit. Spending 8 mana to kill an 8/8 is necessary sometimes, but not terribly good-feeling.
