I skipped the deck roundup last week because it was just a few days after the patch and I didn’t have enough decks to post yet. But this week is different, as the showing a lot of decks and results of their testing.
While it might have initially seen like the patch has killed off Control Warrior, it actually looks like the deck isn’t completely dead yet. While it’s really bad in lower ranks (~46% win rate, a roughly 6% drop after the nerfs), it might make sense as a counter pick in a high Legend meta (as it’s still doing well against Demon Hunter and some other popular decks like Midrange Shaman). I don’t expect it to be popular again (this expansion, that is), but things could have been worse.
Most of the other classes ended up in a similar spot or better than they were before the patch. Some of the biggest winners include Big Spell Mage, Big Beast Hunter, Curse Warlock and Midrange Shaman. All of them gained at least 1-2% win rate and that’s a really big deal.
Interestingly enough, we’re also getting a new expansion announcement tomorrow according. Usually, the second expansion of the year is released early in August, but with such an early announcement, maybe we’re looking at late July instead? Anyway, the announcement also means X.6 patch, so we should see 23.6 tomorrow. Whether it will have any Constructed changes or not is hard to say. I’m leaning towards no, or maybe minor ones – after all, we’re only ~1.5 weeks after the last big update and the meta didn’t even have enough time to settle yet fully. If we won’t get any Constructed balance changes, then there’s still a possibility we’ll see some in 2-3 weeks or so. We had some late balance updates in the past, mostly to prepare the meta for that will be arriving in the next set.
