Top Standard & Wild Legend Decks – United in Stormwind Week 2 – August 2021

Welcome to Stormwind! This is our first compilation of top Legend decks from the expansion. I was pretty sure that we’re going to get a balance update earlier this week, but as it turned out, it was officially scheduled for early next week (Tuesday is the most likely date since that’s when the patches usually come out).

As for the meta itself, players seem to have very mixed feelings about it. Some love it, others hate it. The biggest complaint is about “solitaire” decks (decks with little interaction, e.g. they perform their game plan and you can’t really do much to play around it, disrupt it etc.) and how fast it is. And there’s definitely something about it. While I don’t mind it and have a lot of fun, my average game’s length is 7.7 turns, even though I played most of the meta decks (both fast & “slow”).  Compared to my all-time average game length of 9.1 turns, the meta is definitely faster – of course, it’s only my personal sample size, but the difference is quite big.

Early meta was mostly dominated by Questline-based Combo decks, but then Aggro / faster Midrange builds gained a lot of ground as they work really well against Combo builds. So in the end, Combo decks got partially pushed out and we ended up in this kind of weird meta where doing anything slower might land some wins against the likes of Face Hunter and Handbuff Paladin, but is a nearly sure loss against Questline Warlock or Questline Mage. I hope that the upcoming balance changes make some room for your classic Control decks or even slower Midrange builds. We’ll see.

Below, you will find a full list of the Legend decks from last week, sorted by the highest placement.
