Top Standard Legend Decks From Scholomance Academy – Week 3 – August 2020

It’s been over 2 weeks since Scholomance Academy’s release, and despite only getting a minor balance update, the game is actually in a great state. Of course – not every class is performing as well as we would like it to, but in general it’s not that bad. There’s a plenty of viable decks, some of which are not that obvious and weren’t exactly the main candidates for high tier builds before expansion’s release. While I think that some builds are slightly too strong and would use a small nerf, given how the early meta of two previous expansions looked, it’s really okay.

Just like a week ago, you can sort of say that the meta follows Grandmasters. Throughout the week, pro players are experimenting without sharing their results, and then they often surprise us by bringing interesting builds to the tournament over weekends. Then the ladder starts playing ones that look strong or at least interesting, and the cycle continues. I honestly enjoy the fact that Grandmasters have started so shortly after expansion’s release – seeing the meta develop in such a competitive environment is a fun experience. This week in particular, we’ve seen rise of Control / Soul Demon Hunters, an interesting Rogue build (Secrets + Questing Adventurers / Edwin as the main big threats) and a lot of experimentation with Priest (especially in terms of trying to make the builds more proactive). On the other hand, Guardian Animals Druid is getting less and less popular + it’s dropping in the rankings. Kael’thas nerf definitely contributed to that, but honestly it was already slowly happening even before the nerf. Pure / Libram Paladin is staying as the most popular / strongest deck on the ladder, but it doesn’t perform nearly as well in Grandmasters, so it’s hard to say what will happen in the future.

Below, you will find a full list of the Legend decks from last week, sorted by the highest placement.
