Fractured in Alterac Valley Theorycrafts Round-Up – New Decks To Try On Day 1

It’s been a while ever since the reveal season has ended, but it’s finally coming. Fractured in Alterac Valley expansion launches on Tuesday (December 7). The most common question when a new set releases has to be “but what should I play?”. New expansions often push classes in many different directions, with a bunch of old synergies to consider too. The truth is that most of those turn out to be… not as good as some may have suspected, but they’re still fun to play on Day 1, when no one knows what’s going on yet. That’s the beautiful period during which everything is viable if you try hard enough.

In this thread, we’ll be compiling all of our theorycraftings for each class. Not every single one is covered at the moment (Demon Hunter and Hunter still aren’t there), but we’ll do our best to finish them and add them here by the time expansion launches.

Of course, once the expansion is out, we’ll have another thread showcasing whatever new decks are being tried out by pro players and streamers. But it always takes a while before they launch the game, open their packs, build decks and start playing. So if you’re looking for something to test before we manage to add a bunch of new lists, feel free to use any of the decks below:

Demon Hunter

Druid

Hunter

Mage

Paladin

Priest

Rogue

Shaman

Warlock

Warrior

Dunno why there is Hammer of the Naaru in Big and Control Paladin.. You have the new weapon and the new hero card (that weapon never breaks) yeah sure there are cards which can destroy your opponents weapon but you shouldn’t count them into your deck.
And why is Cariel hero card not in the hand buff Paladin? The hero power is perfect for this archetype

The irony is, that the Hero card is too slow for Handbuff paladin. The HP might be the best for that kind of deck in theory, but in the reality you want to finish the game around T8-9 as a midrange deck and the hero won’t support this strategy.

Thanks for the list. Can’t wait to try new recipes for mage, warrior, paladin and shaman. I hope strongly for a control meta

Looks like Control Priest, Warrior or Mage might be a viable choice, but sadly, can’t do a thing to Demon Seed Solitaire mode. You just draw and burn your deck away until fatigue takes place.

No amount of Control strategy would be able to defeat those kind of Winning condition.
    Infinite Fatigue damage.

They already commited to nerfing Questlines if they prevent new strategies from being playable, and I hope that they keep their word.

I honestly didn’t even hate the Stormwind meta, Questline Warlock was the most fun I had in Hearthstone in a while. I have always loved slower Warlock decks – Handlock, Reno Warlock, Cube Warlock are some of my favorite builds in the history of HS. But I can definitely see how some people didn’t have fun with the game lately and I don’t mind it getting nerfed to open more space for other strategies.

That might be true but I can guarantee Owl OTK will be the new meta anyways. All the healing and removal to survive with all the draw to find combo pieces. Not even Warrior can build enough armor to survive 112 damage.

Yep. QL is too slow. Owl them Control Warriors down! And don’t forget to emote “Thanks for the free win”.

Tbf the “Freeze” part is mostly a meme, because every single card Shaman got this expansion is a Freeze card. Most of them aren’t actually “Freeze Shaman” decks, just other decks with some of the new cards added.

Ah ok. Yeah I hadn’t actually read through the lists, but I was just joking. Freeze shaman will actually be interesting to try.

We’ll have them before expansion’s launch, just wanted to post a compilation now and then add the missing classes later.
