Top Standard & Wild Legend Decks – United in Stormwind Week 3 – August 2021

The first United in Stomrwind nerf patch has already happened and… to be honest, not that much has changed. We’ll update the Tier List early next week, but to make the long story short:

  • Paladin got weaker. Not much weaker, mind you, it’s still fully viable, but it has dropped from arguably the best deck in the format to “low T1/high T2 deck”. It has much harder time closing out the games because of both Conviction and Battlemaster nerfs.
  • Lifesteal OTK Demon Hunter is dead. Well, not FULLY dead, some players are still trying to make it work. But it’s much slower, which in the current meta is like a death sentence. The problem is that with Il’gynoth costing 2 more mana, you usually can’t finish the game before late game – no more T6/T7 kills when you got all of your pieces quickly and managed to discount them. Combos are still possible, but we would need a whole different meta for those.
  • Spell Mage is a bit less powerful, but it seems to still be viable. Mostly because its popularity has dropped and people no longer target it to the same extent.
  • Some new decks have popped up – Questline Shaman looks solid and it’s getting more attention. Brute DH, which works mostly by cycling the deck and playing 0 mana Brutes + bursting opponent down with Lion’s Frenzy, is being tested out.  Anacondra/Miracle Druid are also seeing some play for whatever reason.
  • Questline Warlock is still by far the most popular deck and the deck people complain about most – particularly the D6 version (with Stealer of Souls). Funnily enough, it’s also a much worse version, but it doesn’t feel great to lose against – if they happen to get a quick combo off, the game is often over around Turn 5-6.

Overall, a lot of the players still aren’t happy with the meta, so I would say that we should see another balance update soon-ish. There’s a big Battlegrounds update coming soon so I expect some Constructed changes to be bundles up with it.

Oh, and there are sadly less decks than I would hope to post, but the balance update happened on Tuesday so I had less time to gather them.

Below, you will find a full list of the Legend decks from last week, sorted by the highest placement.

Warlock’s Quest has been oppressive in both Standard AND Wild. Anxious to see what they do about it.

As for Anacondra, I think its surge in use was because of Muzzy winning surprise matches with it at GM this past week or two. Mind you for those who watched, the deck can very much be feast or famine.

I played some Anacondra Druid as well this past week and have 72% winrate.
It is weaker against aggro, but is quite a good counter to all the questline decks, especially mage and D6 warlock.
Mind you, I have been playing with my own version without C’Thun and Auctioneer package but with Glowly flies, Arbor up and Goldshire gnolls. The later ones especially felt strong against more board centric decks. They cost 0 post alignment, but can be played much sooner than Owl if needed.
