(Ending Soon) Best Twist (New Age) Decks, Legend Decks For The New Hearthstone Game Mode

Update: Only a few days left for Twist’s first format – New Age. On August 1, the mode will go down for a month. It’s going to come back after a month (on September 1) with a new format and a “fun surprise”.

Announced last week, Twist is the new game mode/format coming to Hearthstone. It’s the first major addition to the game since Mercenaries (which, looking back at it, was mostly a failed experiment). The idea behind Twist is that the format will rotate every couple of seasons (or even every season), changing the list of available expansions, possibly with some extra rules.

Twist beta started on June 27. It will last for two seasons – a short one (until end of June) and a full one (July). After that, the mode will go down for a while as Blizzard evaluates the feedback and prepares for a proper launch. When it will launch exactly – we don’t know, all Blizzard said is “soon” (but we know that can mean anything). If I had to guess, I’d say maybe a month or two of break – they don’t want to release it too late so people won’t forget about it.

Current Twist Format – New Age

The first Twist format is called “New Age” and it’s really simple. It uses sets from Ashes of Outland to Festival of Legends (plus their respective mini-sets). The only extra deck building rule is that no Neutral cards are allowed – decks have to be 100% class cards. Twist formats will change quite often, which is the main selling point of the. So far the response to this format has been quite controversial. While people like the idea of a rotating format, they dislike the one Blizzard chose as the first one. People aren’t thrilled to play against cards that have just rotated out of Standard (mainly Stormwind Questlines). Of course, things like that will happen in the future – no matter what format Blizzard lands on, there will be people who don’t like it. I think they decided to pick something simple for the first format to illustrate the concept before getting into more complex formats. At least that’s what I hope!

Twist (New Age) Deck Lists

The mode has just launched so we don’t have a lot of decks yet. That’s why I’m leaving all of the theorycraftings for now – you will find them below the new ladder decks! Decks are sorted by date, those on the top are the latest and on the bottom are the oldest.

Deck Import

Drakefire Amulet always lets you summon 2x Haleh, Matron Protectorate (because no Neutral Dragons are available) to combo down your opponent with cheap spells.

DK is really weak in Twist so no one really plays it. The class was only just released so it has way fewer cards than others. Maybe it will become a bit better after today’s balance update, we’ll see.
