You guys hear that? It’s pure paladins winrate breaking clear through 60%

Did Paladins understand that the flavour was about a faire tho

I mean obviously it looks really strong but this seems way more like a control card and pure paly is more midrange/tempo at the moment. I wonder if it’s a sign that a paly rework will have some ‘pure paladin’ cards in it and it’ll be something that defines the class. I’d be cool with that and it would be more flavourful than say secrets.

Why do people compare this to Zilliax? It’s totally not the same.
Yrel is bad at so many level.
Against aggro, which is a lot, turn 8 is too late.
and you need to be pure paladin which is countered with Bombs and Albatross
and if that’s not enough, you can’t use spell like commencement.
the last thing that gonna bring that score down, is that pure paladin meta is rotating out soon.
i’m afraid this one will only survive this expansion only. Unless some more pure paladin getting pushed in. 1.5/5

I mean you’re using bombs and albatross as well as pure paladin rotating without realizing that bombs and albatross is also rotating out lol.

Also… Pure Paladin is in no way reliant to specific cards, it works with any cards though ofc the cards that have the requirement makes it even better. What I’m saying is that it’s not technically rotating out and in general it’s an archetype that is very easy to push. Most likely we’ll already get one or two more pure paladin cards.

I mean, this card isn’t bad, but it’s not that good either. I’d compare it to a Libram of Hope that can’t be cost-reduced, but also destroys a minion.

On average, the Libram of Hope gets discounted to around 6-7 mana before it can be played, and even then it’s not the strongest card around either. For 1-2 more mana, you get to destroy an enemy minion too? I guess that could fit into a Pure Paladin deck as kind of an extra copy of Libram of Hope, but asides from that mehhhhh.

I’d call it 3/5 – barely strong enough to see play.

My whole point is, Zilliax is totally different from Yrel regardless of any of that.
Although I agree that pure paladin still can exist anytime.

Albatross? Are you kidding? Post nerf, the bird is totally unplayable.

It’s playable but not that effective, since not many play a Highlander deck now.
Most playing aggro DH, Hunter and Rogue.

But it’s nonetheless a minus for Yrel. And since we’re discussing about how similar Yrel and Zilliax, it just proved my point. Zilliax is not similar, because it doesn’t have this kind of restriction.

Albatross is totally unplayable. Try to find one GM who included it in their lineup.

Yrel costs 3 more mana for +4/3 stats. Thats 4 extra removal AND healing.

Pure Paladin is almost a GM worthy deck. Mindless to play, of course, but it’s practically there. This card goes into it. Pure Play is fine when it’s ahead – it just needs a comeback mechanism.

Obviously it’s not as versatile as Zilliax. It can only go into Paly, and only one archetype. But it that narrow world, this card is quite good.

      1. Commencement is trash, Albatross sees no play and every deck gets countered by other decks, in this case Bombs. And against Aggro turn 8 is not too late when you play paladin and you summon 8/8 Divine Shield and Taunt on turn 6 and keep healing. You’re just seeing the few downsides of this card, and not focusing on how good it is and that it fits on a Tier 1 deck

Turn 6 is two full turns away from turn 8 lol. And anyways, yeah, aggro games usually end wayyyy before turn 8. If you’ve already made it to turn 8, having this card around is just overkill cuz you’d already have basically won the game with your opponent having exhausted their aggro arsenal against you.

          This.
Having no other way to explain.
Agree, if you survive turn 6 / 7. It’s basically a win game for Pally. (Against aggro)

Wild stays forever my friend. Against aggro, it may come too late but for mid-range match up, the card is a power house. Play on curve: heal for 7, remove a minion and leave a 7 attack taunt with lifesteal

Okay, so Paladin just gets Zilliax, pretty much.

6 Stars. We’re going to be seeing Yrel for a loooooooong time.

I’m not certain pure paladin needs anymore support.

Strictly better Shirvallah and basically big Zilliax. I don’t really like how it has only 5 health cause it costs 8.. But cards like these make comebacks. 4 stars

    do overrated

The card is obviously good, but out of all things I don’t think Paladin needs another thick 8 power taunt that heals for 8.
