General Mulligans

These 4 cards are your best chances against aggro, though you should almost always keep librarian, sometimes spellstone if you have a librarian. Versus control and mirror always keep lackey, skull, cube and sometimes gul'dan.

Versus control you can keep skull, lackey, and sometimes cube.

In the mirror you always keep lackey, mistress, skull and if the rest of your hand is good gul'dan.

I will be updating this deck as witchwood cards are revealed. So far Lord Godfrey looks amazing and is slotted in where n’zoth was. Plated Beetle is currently taking the place of MoM, but I’m looking for a solid replacement, hopefully another one drop, Mortal CoilFire Fly, Emerald Hive Queen, Gravelsnout Knight, and Glacial Shard are the current possible considerations, but it depends on how much aggro we will see in the meta.

Other witchwood considerations are:

Baleful Banker:  this card has been added to the list to help increase the number of doomguards and lord godfrey in the deck so you can more easily otk or get clears.

Muck Hunter it can set up defiles and trades up, and it can sometimes be a 5/8 rush for 5 on congested boards, with full enemy boards. It probably feels good to cube it too.

Deathweb Spider: 4/6 lifesteal is pretty good, might be too slow for cubelock, but if we get enough self damage, this could be solid.

Dollmaster Dorian: this card might actually work, if I pull it i will definitely test it, can’t hurt to have the chance for more doomguards is voidlords, and turn 7 this+ tap could be really good.

Voodoo Doll: you’d have to drop taldaram for it, but this seems really good. You can mortal coil it for a 4 mana assassinate, use it to start a defile to kill a big thing, gellfirr for a similar effect, or use it to pop your cube in a pinch. He will at least be tried.

Other considerations in general are adding Rin, the First Disciple Twisting Nether, and more Faceless Manipulator.

Cards that will not be added currently in witchwood:

Glinda Crowskin: interesting card, but bad stats and no instant effect on the board make the card too slow for this deck.

Azalina Soulthief: wrong deck and too slow.

Genn Greymane and Baku the Mooneater: unplayable in this deck.

Gilnean Royal Guard: not a good card here, maybe only in that lady in white deck.

Spellshifter: worse than tainted zealot, and he no longer sees play here, so this card is bad.

Swift Messenger: decent card, but has no place here, save it for arena

Nightmare Amalgam : not a card for this deck as no good tribal synergy.

Phantom Militia: good card for that troll gnomeferatu summoning portal Glenda deck. Bad here

Scaleworm: unplayable for this deck.

Blackwald Pixie: too weak.

Clockwork Automaton: interesting with dk, but still bad.

Pumpkin Peasant: unplayable here and possibly everywhere.

Ravencaller: Possibly good, maybe too slow, probably bad here and good for aggro.

Rotten Applebaum: decent here if decks slow down to midange. Ok cube target, but no n’zoth.

Witch's Cauldron: actually has some potential here. While it is very passive playing it with a decent defile and a bunch of voidwalkers can give some late game potential, though shaman spells are bad, and that situation is unlikely, so I’m gonna say it’s a pass.

Witchwood Grizzly: seems pretty good for dealing aggro and a pretty good cube target, I’ll keep my eye on it, but for now it’s a no.

Duskbat: 5 mana draw a card for a basically 4/6 seems good for zoo, kinda slow here and could interfere with lackey turns. Not good here.

Blood Witch: basic stats with a downside that only upgrades spellstone, not gonna see play here.

Worgen Abomination: Not good here, could be good in warrior as a body, that can sleep with the fishes

Mossy Horror: could be ok for killing dudes in dude paladin, but worse than godfrey and not consistent enough, kinda bad.

Countess Ashmore: searches for things we don’t want. Not worth it here.

splattering festeroot: weak stats and not very good overall

Witchwood Piper: interesting effect, but pulling out a librarian isn’t too valuable here, especially for a turn 4 play when you want to giant.

Final witchwood reveal update:

Neutral cards:

Cauldron elemental, chief inspector, darkmire moonkin, deranged doctor, felsoul inquisitor, furious ettin, hench-clan thug, life drinker, lost spirit, mad hatter, marsh drake, night prowler,  sandbinder, swamp dragon egg,  swamp leech, tanglefur mystic,  unpowered steambot, vicious scalehide, walnut sprite, and wyrmguard: all of these cards range from pack filler unplayable, playable only in arena, or niche purpose that doesn’t work for cubelock.

Warlock cards:

:  pretty strong card, could potentially find itself here, but good in controlling. Not adding for now.

Dark Possession: feels really strong, the deck could use another turn 1 play. The issue is that discover will more likely reveal cards from this set, and the demons iin this set are bad. We will have to see.

: worse implosion, won’t see play anywhere.

Ratcatcher:  actually a pretty solid choice for those that lack Prince taldaram, good for killing your cube for value. Taldaran is usually better though.

Witchwood Imp: the demon you will always discover, this card was made specially to make dark possession worse on average, thanks blizzard.

Seems cool! As an aggro player, I do just not want Witchwood to be released. Zoolock seems to be getting some new tools though, but with Lord Godfrey they just seem to have made Twisting Nether one mana cheaper.

Lord godfrey seems way better the twisting nether, it gives a body and can break Deathrattle. Keep hope! Blood witch seems decent for zoolock and duskbat is busted for zoolock at worst 4/6 draw a card for 5. The spider seems solid to gain back some life and 4/6 lifesteal is solid. Nightmare amalgam can act as 3/4 demon, but with only demonfuse as a buff, might not be worth it. Once we get some more reveals, I might make a zoolock build too.

The beetles are clunky with the giants; you want to tap as much as possible in the first turn and you already have doomsayer as a 2 drop.

Something like 2 mortal coil or 2 drain soul should be more flexible, while still soaking a lot of damage against aggro (secret mage is gone, against the other aggro decks the best way to soak damage is with a big defile).

Beetle is a placeholder for now. I could see coil doing good, though you raise a good point about the need to tap, that might make drain soul less powerful. Coil brings one further down fatigue. Hopefully we get a new one cost healer, or just a cheap boardwipe. I could even see something stupid like was elemental just for soaking up damage.

thank you. Muck hunter is being considered so far as an additional midgame tool that can set up defile.
