Top Standard & Wild Legend Decks – Across the Timeways (Week 15) – February 2026

Well, it’s been an interesting week. Not only the new expansion was announced with two new mechanics + return of the fan-favorite Colossal, players getting temporary access to so-called “Trial Cards” (full Emerald Dream + Lost City expansions for free during CATACLYSM), but the Patch 34.6 itself also dropped with lots of Standard buffs for cards that are about to rotate out. And while not every one of those mattered, many of them actually turned out to be impactful and affected the meta in interesting ways.

Okay, so first things first – the strongest decks pre-patch are pretty much still the strongest decks post-patch. The buffs were impactful, but keep in mind that the buffed cards were previously too weak to even see play, so it won’t suddenly turn them into meta tyrants. Buuuuuut, a bunch of them actually did make a splash. Abduction Ray and Archimonde are pretty good right now (but you probably want to play the faster “Zoo” version or Wallow version, the early builds were too slow). Arkwing Pilot decks seem to be quite viable too, -1 mana on Pilot and Ingenious Artificer made a big difference. Libram Paladin is probably not as good as the Aura Paladin even after buffs to Yrel, Beacon of Hope and Interstellar Wayfarer, but it’s up there. And Maestra, Mask Merchant‘s buff lead to the creation of “Tess Rogue” deck that aims to turn into a Hero from different class early so Tess then replays all the Rogue cards (and keeps Shadowstepping herself so you can play her over and over again).

There’s probably something I forgot about, but the point is that even if the new decks aren’t the strongest, players are experimenting and want to play them. Because, frankly, the meta was getting really stale, so I’m glad that Blizzard did something to break it. And it’s probably not the last similar thing coming – we still have the usual nerf reverts for cards that are about to rotate out to Wild coming in 35.0. Those are usually more impactful than buffs such as the ones in 34.6, because those cards were nerfed for a reason. Most of them are strong, and their impact after they get back to their original form should be much bigger. That said, the “rever meta” is only about a week long, so it’s more of a last hurrah anyway.

And interestingly enough, Splendiferous Whizbang also got buffed and it’s actually… okay now? The deck quality still varies, but many of them are pretty interesting and strong. I’ve seen a few posts of people hitting Legend with Whizbang, and that’s great. I never thought that the card should be completely viable, but previously the win rates of some decks were just too low and playing a let’s say 30% win rate deck is not a great experience for most players. I think the current power level is way more balanced – it’s not gonna be a meta breaker, but it’s an interesting option for people with small collection or who want to play unique decks for fun.

There’s still about a month until CATACLYSM release, and the card reveal season is only really starting in full next week. This time it’s done a bit differently, with reveals mostly concentrated in a few “reveal streams” with content creators and game devs + the final reveal stream. We’ll see how those play out, I hope they can bring some of the old Hearthstone reveals magic back (reveal streams were some of my favorite moments back in the day). The first one is hosted by RegisKillbin and happens on Tuesday (February 17).
