Alliance vs Horde Event – Honor Points

After Patch 21.8 launched, each player will swear their allegiance to one of the two factions – Alliance or Horde. The choice will come with a different Golden Legendary you get for free – it will be either Drek'Thar (for Horde) or Vanndar Stormpike (for Alliance).

Check out playhearthstone/cards for more card details!

After expansion launches on December 7, two factions will compete for even more free rewards by playing Hearthstone matches (Constructed, Arena or Duels). Here’s how many Honor Points you can get for activities:

  • 10 Honor for every game played
  • 10 more Honor for every game won (20 total)
  • 20 more Honor for every game won versus an opponent from the enemy faction (40 total)

As you gain honor, you climb the ranks and progress through a Legendary Quest Chain. Everyone who completes the Legendary Quest Chain will get the same amount of rewards INCLUDING the opposing faction’s leader. When the event ends on January 11, every player will get a Diamond copy of the leader from the faction that got more Honor points in total.

If you’re still a bit confused about the event, we’ve prepared a guide explaining everything in detail!

New Keyword – Honorable Kill

Honorable kill is a bit similar to the Overkill mechanic introduced a while ago in Rastakhan’s Rumble. However, instead of you needing to deal more than enough damage to kill something, Honorable Kill will trigger when you deal the exact necessary amount of damage. For example, if a minion has 3 health left and you deal 3 damage to it, that’s when the Honorable Kill will trigger.

Honorable Kill will give you a variety of effects, such as buffing your minions, reducing the cost of cards in your hand, and so on. Strategically, you will need to know what kind of damage thresholds there are for popular Honorable Kill cards and try to set up opponent’s minions at that health (if you play them) or try to not leave your own minions at that health (if you play around them).

    Latest info.
Get 2 packs drops from YT/Twitch by watching theorycraft stream today. December 2nd.
2 hours for getting a pack, 4 hours for a total of 2 packs.

Still unclear if you can get 4 packs by watching both stream. But honestly, I think it’s possible.

Many “buff” cards many “draw” cards but very few serious minions or something to combining with these cards. For example “DH” get a legendary that “Tranform into a 6/6 copy of a minion in your deck” but the class did not get some serious and strong demon minions in this expansion.
Druid get one ultra “ramp” legendary card but he did not get some big boys or something big with value. Instead he get some cute minions and some buff spells. What was that?
Mage get some ultra big spell that doing rgn things. No something to get the board, for example cards like “Freeze an enemy and summon two 3/6 elements” or deal 5 dmg and summon an -5 drop”. He get some draw cards, some removals and some rng big spells.
Only paladin get some big boys and Hunter some “secret” supporting cards. The other classes sets it looks very comfusing to me. You must depenting a lot from the previous already cards and I feel the meta will not change much. Again “Pirate” warrior, pepega Hunter, Pepega zoo Druid ect. Casual things from Team 5.

Some powerfull Hero cards. Reminds of Dr. Boom, Mad Genius. Whoever draw the card first usually won.

I’m all for ads to keep this website running. I appreciate all the work that goes into this. But can we do something about the ads that literally cut across the screen and cover up the content? For me, in the Druid and Mage sections there is an ad that cuts across, covers some of the cards and resizes everything to be extremely small in those two spaces, so I can’t see anything there. It’s just very annoying.

I’m really sorry about that, could you please send a screenshot? The problem is that ads are targeted depending on your region and so on, and it doesn’t happen to me or the devs. If you show us which ads are problematic we’ll try to get rid of them in favor of less intrusive ones.

I’m sorry if my tone came across as harsh in that tweet. It was not my intention. Since I posted that, I’ve had my adblocker working overnight to get rid of the ones that cut across the screen, so now they take up a card slot instead of the whole space, like so https://imgur.com/dM1QQQV

Thanks for your attention to this, I’m glad to say I’ve resolved this issue for myself, but I was curious to see if anyone else had the same issue, it might have been more unique than I expected.

Thanks so much for your hard work. This website is like the only one I care to check for news on Hearthstone and new deck content.

It’s very hard to decide whether Horde or Alliance is better, because we don’t know what kind of cards they printing, and to make it worse, they force us to choose now and not letting us play the game until then.
    Nice move. Very nice. *crossedfingers

Okay then, I guess Vanndar reducing 3 mana from 5+ minions is a lot more viable (Depends on whether you can mulligan said Legendary) than Drek’thar summoning two 3 cost minion from the deck. I can’t imagine the broken double battlecry gonna be.
Goodbye Kazakus. You’ll be missed sorely.

I dont think you summon two copies of a 3 cost minion or whatever <4 cost minion from the deck but if you play such a <4 cost minion you summon two of those. At least thats how I read it (correct me if I am wrong).

    • HANSN
      November 17, 2021 at 8:25 am

I correct myself, you were right, it summons two 3 cost minions like „Call to arms“, my bad. Would be to good otherwise.

        November 22, 2021 at 7:31 pm

A lot of people misread. They could’ve just use the word recruit or summon 2 of them ‘from the deck’.
Like I said, lame wording is lame.

          November 23, 2021 at 9:24 am

Yeah would be easier, but they really dont like to print old keywords on newly released cards, instead they prefer lame wording. All in all I dont think it is a very good card, at least for right now, but who knows what will come.

At least now that all cards has been revealed. ‘someone’ can get a good night rest in the weekend before the theorycraft stream happens.

Thanks for all the hard work!

I’m sure it’s just because nobody told you yet, but, putting up this post including “New Mechanics” in the announcement and then not explaining the new mechanic is a bit lacking. 😛

    • H0lysatan
      November 16, 2021 at 11:02 am

Then I guess it’s only fitting if we help describe the new mechanic. Admin gonna love the next week sleep schedule, so I think explaining a few things in the comment should help.

At the very top of the page:

“THIS POST IS CURRENTLY GETTING UPDATED WITH ALL THE INFO WE JUST GOT! IF YOU WANT TO SEE A FINAL VERSION, CHECK BACK SOON!”

We just had an expansion reveal, 10 card reveals and a big patch release, and I’m just one person 🙂

Thank you for your kind words!

And no worries, I’m used to busy release times. But Blizzard has been pushing SO MUCH STUFF over the last ~2 years that it’s hard to keep up sometimes 😀
