Tavern Brawl – Brawl Block: Gods, Gadgetzan, Gurubashi

This week’s Tavern Brawl is Brawl Block: Gods, Gadgetzan, Gurubashi!

Official Description for Brawl Block: Gods, Gadgetzan, Gurubashi

Bid a fond farewell to the Year of the Mammoth! Construct a deck using ONLY cards from Journey to Un’Goro, Knights of the Frozen Throne, and Kobolds & Catacombs.

Brawl Block: Gods, Gadgetzan, Gurubashi Chalkboard

General Information

  • You get one Year of the Phoenix card pack for winning your first game this week.
  • It’s the second time we see this Brawl.
  • It’s a build your own deck Brawl.
  • It’s a PvP Brawl.
  • The Brawl has a custom format.
  • You can ONLY use cards from the three expansions – Whispers of the Old Gods, Mean Streets of Gadgetzan and Rastakhan’s Rumble. No Classic cards, no cards from other expansions.
  • If you don’t own enough cards from those expansions, you just need to add one and the deck will auto-fill the rest with the cards you don’t own. It means that all you need to play it is a single common from any of those expansions (of course, it doesn’t mean that your deck will be good, but might be enough to get a pack after some tries).

Mage mirror matches are super fun in this brawl. I threw together a pretty random mix of Jan’alai/C’thun/dragon cards, and the few games I played against mage were a blast.

I haven’t lost a game yet with C’Thun Jade Tempo Druid, this deck is just insane!
You have insane tempo game with lots of strong cards and hard aggression, C’Thun as a finisher and you cannot fatigue thanks to Jade Idol. So basically you win early game with Tempo and Late game with Jade Idols and C’Thun. I also Added our Lord and Savior Yogg to spice things up. You can always replace him ofc for something else.

I forgot to mention that the only downside to this is that it has terrible draw but this whole Brawl has no draw cards so you should be alright.

I did something similar – no War Bears or Yogg but a couple of Lunar Visions for card draw.

good idea, I didnt have the cards crafted so I decided to stick them in, the war bears are surprisingly amazing for this brawl tho I agree about Lunar Visions>Yogg

I found that just a midrange deck can take most of the other decks on turns 5-7

Most of people dusted old cards, and R Rumble cards are not enough to compete who owns the cards from 3 expansions. Not fun to play this way. Build your own deck should not be a thing on tavern.

I kind of agree, maybe they should do it but give the players all of the cards from those expansions, that would make everyone equal !

I don’t have wild cards at all so I literally just can’t play this format. So sad and stupid.

Apparently there is an auto fill options for those without cards. Not sure how it works.

That being said the pick a class and play format of brawls has way more replayability to me.

3 Archetype Rogue! Jades, N’zoth, and C’thun are all very powerful in this deck:

Did it with a Rush Dragon Warrior (Mostly with Rastakhan cards cos i didnt had many cards from the other two expansions). Worked better than expected. Specially good was getting to use Akali’s Overkill twice, cos that got me two 10/12 Amani War bears that basically won me the game against a hand buff paladin.

Exactely! Worked for me perfectly as well. You can easily build some pretty consistent Dragon and Rush synergies with only RR cards. Dragon roar works very well in this Brawl. Blew away three C’thun Priests in a row in now time.
