Deck Import

Mulligans

The goal of this deck is to outlast every threat your opponent throws at you while they writhe in horror at the anticipation of their inevitable death.

After Hakkar, the Soulflayer has done his job, Hemet, Jungle Hunter administers the antivenom while Frost Lich Jaina and friends help to recover from any collateral damage/fatigue.

The deck generally destroys any minion based deck (Token Druid, Heal-zoo, Odd Paladin, etc.) while being heavily favored against most control-oriented decks. Burn decks come down to draw order, but combo OTK decks are a real struggle.

It’s a work in progress, so here’s some thoughts on inclusions:

Witchwood Piper is really good for ensuring the Artificers are available ASAP and don’t get eaten by Hemet.

Voodoo Doll is great since it guarantees a Water Elemental, but admittedly I already find it difficult to identify an optimal situation for both Polymorphs in most games, so I feel extra single target removal might be overkill. It’s also yet another card that gets eaten by Hemet, which is something to consider. At the moment Hemet usually hits 2 cards on average when I drop him, which isn’t a big deal – but every extra slot is just another tick of fatigue damage you have to heal through. Running them for now.

The Lich King I wasn’t convinced by this before as I didn’t feel the deck needed more threats, but I’m actually currently running it and he’s changed my mind. The fact that he’s a solid taunt is a big deal, and the vast majority of his death knight spells are actually in-line with the deck’s goal of stalling. He also fills out the otherwise absent 8-mana curve nicely, and can bait out a poly/hex/silence that would otherwise have hit Hakkar.

Jan'alai, the Dragonhawk and Baron Geddon are mostly there for the heals in the late game. Possibly replaceable (especially Geddon), but I like having a backup plan if I struggle to make Water Elementals.

Doomsayer is just an amazing card all around. Helps keep aggro at bay in the early game, and allows you to slow down the opponents tempo on a freshly cleared board long enough to play Hakkar or Jaina.

Rotten Applebaum and Tar Creeper are really nice to throw down on low threat boards where you don’t want to waste a spell or sit on mana. Possible replacements, though.

Zilliax Healing, taunt, and spot removal that doesn’t hurt Dragon’s Fury? Sign me up.

Notes on promising substitutions that I’ve excluded:

Dragoncaller Alanna has been persistently underwhelming. She almost never wins games that I wouldn’t have won anyway. I know it seems crazy to leave her out with 10+ big spells in the deck, but I’m just not sure if she’s worth it other than being a backup in case Hakkar is silenced or a chance at rushing down OTK decks. If you want to try running her, I’d recommend dropping one Voodoo Doll.

Celestial Emissary is definitely an option. I like them because they often make the difference in your one AoE spell per turn being successful, while also offering you an Icy Touch target in the late game. Using them with Blast Wave not only makes the spell more potent, but also gives you another overkill activator. My hand was never empty with these dudes around.

Bloodmage Thalnos Good inclusion along the same lines as Celestial Emissary, but you don’t really want to draw more than you have to anyway.

Arcanosaur Tried this in conjunction with Arcane Tyrant , but it’s just too frustrating to line up when you need it, and although the healing potential is nice, the deck doesn’t exactly need more AoE.

Zola the Gorgon  Tempting to use with Jan’Alai, but you really just don’t need the extra value, even in the slowest of slow games.

Gluttonous Ooze Admittedly the deck would probably be better with one of these. Feel free to sub it wherever you prefer – I’m just not running into a lot of problems with weapons, personally.

Another thought that has entered my mind is how many times this could have been easily countered by sitting on 10 cards in hand and burning the bloods. Luckily, nobody seems to have recognized that yet, haha.

If you have any suggestions, let me know! Having fun trying to optimize this deck. It’s just so hilariously cruel.

Here’s a couple of highlights:

Win against a Spell Hunter where I don’t even bother attacking

Odd Warriors, stare into the darkness of your worst nightmare
