I can see pros and cons in this card. The goods are very good with there being many highly played cards in the current meta including flame strike, firelands portal and blizzard alongside what I’m guessing to be high cost new cards. However I’m not sure what putting 5/5 bodies on the board does for mage. There is no synergy with currently existing cards I can Think of to be worth it, it’s only worth it if you’ve played at least two cards in that price range. Yes they say dragon, but this card seems more like a fuck you to priest. Only problem is shadow reaper anduin can still kill them. They also dont protect your hero so there’s no on turn value to be had and with just one spell this is awful. I would rate this so much better if it was elemtental (frost Lich Jaina)

i agree. If they were 5/5 elementals this would be worth it for the synergy with DK Jaina. Too bad….*sad face*

it’s meant to be a win condition. You build your deck AROUND this card, not the other way around. Control mage into this late game, 6×5=30 so it’s lethal

but hey man think less of synergy and more of countering other decks. This counters the shit out of a dragon priest whos going to be running dragonfire potions. Tada now priest cant board clear (as easily) still possible. But idk it will probably see some heavy use at some point.

Considering that Mage has already gotten some really strong cards to synergize with the DK / elemental play style, I get why Blizzard went a different direction, but this just isn’t an interesting card. Sure, filling the board with 5/5 dragons would be effective, but it doesn’t feel particularly Magey to me.

I suppose the idea is to make up for the minions you won’t be able to include in your deck to make room for a bunch of 5 mana spells. But pinning all your hopes of victory on slamming this down and your opponent not just Brawling, or Equality + Consecration or Frost Nova Doomsayer just seems risky.

I don’t play Mage, so I can’t really evaluate this card, Card art is pretty sick though.

Also rip your RNG King Krush Evolve.

Now *this* time I agree with. Art on these last two Mage cards have been great.

So this is the last card there revealing till Monday?.. there are like 36 more cards in the set yet all in all it looks like fun but the top meta classes seem like their not going anywhere..

      December 1, 2017 at 8:11 am

I’m glad their revealing more fun cards and on top of that none of them have been textless pack fillers yet

      • XeXeede
        December 1, 2017 at 12:17 pm

Here is how the final reveal goes every time.

        1. They reveal the rest of the new cool cards while playing some games.
        2. “Well guys that is all we have for today, but you can check our Facebook page for the rest of the cards from Kobolds and Catacombs, which releases on December 7. Don’t forget to pre-order your 50 packs and get the “For the Horde!” card back.
        3. The rest of the cards on Facebook are the crappy pack fillers.

Just trying not to set your hopes up for disappointment with the aspect of no pack fillers.

This is still looking like a really fun deck, and it would be awesome if they made all the “destroy weapon” cards become deathrattles.

Just realized how much I jump around during this comment. :/ Oh well.

It seems like they are pushing a “big spell” mage, this card is very slow and has no immediate impact so i dont know if it will be good enough to make that archetype competitive. However it can set up lethal on board and is a good follow up to a doomsayer plus blizzard turn. With all the weapon hate that is likely to show up this could be a good replacement for medivh in slow controll mages, art is sick

    • Zkool47
      December 1, 2017 at 8:58 am

It’d be cool if instead of dragons it summoned elementals to synergize with Jaina. Though that might be a bit over the top.

      • Jonnychill1331
        December 2, 2017 at 8:30 am

Yeah Elementals would have fit the mage theme much better and they could have compensated by making the elementals 4/4’s or something, but honestly I think they could have made them 5/5’s and it still wouldn’t have been broken with all the strong aoe floating around,

If it worked with Scroll of Wonders (the card from Deck of Wonders) it would give both cards purpose … but it’s already been confirmed that Scroll of Wonders doesn’t really count as a spell cast, it doesn’t discount Arcane Giant so won’t count here either (in all probability) – so only the original Deck of Wonders would count.

I feels like this was created just to annoy Highlander Priest but I can kind of see a point in a Control Mage deck – especially after Firelands Portal rotates out oddly. You won’t be getting that free 5-cost body from the spell so Flamestrike and Meteor could be used to keep the opponent’s board under control giving you a chance to wrest it back by flooding the board with 5/5 dragons.

Elementals would have been better for the DK synergy – would have been vulnerable to Dragonfire Potion but that rotates out at the same time as Firelands Portal so Elementals might have been even stronger then.

Less of an issue either way in Wild as Lightbomb wins either way.

Either this should have been the priest legendary or the minions she summon should be elementals instesd, because either of those options would have been stronger than what we have now.

I know im naive but could this be a hint for future dragon mage? Right now this doesn’t give support or get support from any dragon related cards mage has access to (it summons the dragon on the board and not into the hand so its just as usefull in a dragon mage deck as it is in any other deck that runs an equal amount of spells) and if anything this is a dragon counter or just a counter in general for priest because of dragon potions popularity and priest almost holding monopoly on dragons untill now. But the fact that mage is still getting cards related to dragons even if they don’t have big synergys (like sindragosa and this and coldarra drake in wild) makes me wonder if they in the future will push dragon mage. (Maybe with on board effects rather then holding a dragon in hand effects like dragonfire potion)

No weit it’s just me being high and wanting dragons available for other classes again, don’t mind me haha!

I think this is a counter against priests dragon potion, but the new card psychic scream puts all those dragons back into the deck. -That is value for mage, because even a 5/5 is bigger than the average deck, that has tomaccount for early game.

All together this card is very strong and could alone be 33/33 at max for 9 mana. I am skeptical about those comparison, but this card is big. And if the new priest legendary “temporus” is played. Mage will play this card and otk with one card.

Against rogue it is also almost an otk.
And when the enemy can get hold of a board clear it is too.

I like how they nerf evolve shaman and buff dirty rat with these high cost low stat cards

  15. Thalgande
    December 1, 2017 at 2:06 am

I play priest quite a bit and was scared since they were dragons which counterdragonfire potion. Then i thought of shadowreaper anduin and the new 7 mana something-scream and now i can say: were good lads nothign to worry about

    • D00mnoodle
      December 1, 2017 at 4:08 am

Mage won’t play this till after anduin most of the time. And psychic scream does wonders against this indeed but when they redraw dragoncaller alana they will resummon again. Giving them alot of additional dragons. However this delays them so much that you can just heropower them down in the meantime with that degenerate hero power… (blizzard should really nerf it)

Mother of dragons, Queen of the Andals and the First Men, Protector of the Seven Kingdoms, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Lady of Dragonstone, Queen of Meereen. Any similarity is mere coincidence ;D

First of all Alanna is an Elf, just because she has blonde hair and a dragon behind her does’nt mean she is intended to look like a GoT charachter.

She does indeed remind me of it, pls let emilia clarke voice act this card 😀 also when she attacks she should shout “where are my dragons?!”

  17. Atioras
    December 1, 2017 at 12:38 am

2 Cabalist tomes (run in most decks)
0-2 Flamestrikes (Usually elemental from what I’ve seen)
    0-2 Blizzards (read above)
    2 Firelands portal (most decks)
    0-1 Meteor (elemental/control/kazakus)

    Cards gained from outside sources
(Given 3 from cabal, and 1 from primordial, about 8 cards, probably 3 are 5+ cost average?)

Looking for probably at least 2 played for 9 mana 13/13 split across 3 bodies?
    – Untargetable by dragonfire potion for those extra stats.

My thoughts- Dragon priest looks like it’s coming back with the new additions, this card denies board clear to the ever so loved (by priests) Dragonfire potion.

If I actually had a decent mage deck (cause I don’t have these epics OTL,) I’d say instant include for any deck running at least 4, 5+ mana spells, and considerin how good Firelands and either board clear is for any control deck, it’s practically a must have.

Stats are huge, you’ve probably played 1 or 2 by the time you hit 9 mana,

Yes 9 mana is that awkward spot (either curve play, awkward extra mana, have a relevant 1 drop, or saved coin for this moment)

But if you get 2+ dragons? There really isn’t that many existing board clears that allow people to take back the board in the same turn.

    Pyro+equality (4) Equality+consecrate (6)
    DOOM (10)
    Twisting nether (8)
Dragonfire (6, but does nothing to the dragons)
Volcano (5+overload (thing from bellow/Snowfury giant could be played)
    Vanish (6)
    Brawl (5)
    Swipe? (4) maybe 2? (8)
    Devolve? (2)
    Holy Nova (5)

So yeah, board clears, kinda expensive, play this after a board clear? Full swing baby.

    • Han
      December 1, 2017 at 1:08 am

You forgot all the new removal all other class, Priest now has the new 7 mana board clear and so is warrior 3 mana boardclear

      • Farmer Dan
        December 1, 2017 at 2:05 am

Let’s not forget pint size + horror too. Perfect clear and a mana crystal cheaper than dragonfire D:

There’s no doubt that loads of stats can overwhelm your opponent if they don’t have an answer, but the dragon tag just isn’t enough to believe that this is a counter.

Which is sad, because I love dragons, and mage, this could have been a great card

I think this card seems really good. Similar to N’Zoth, but not as strong. I like playing slow mage control decks and can easily play many 5+ spells. Then you can play this late game and get a bunch of 5-5’s which will be hard for most decks to deal with. Especially since Dragonfire Potion won’t work. I won’t be surprised if I get beat by this card a bunch.

  19. Zeluca
    November 30, 2017 at 9:54 pm

    Ok, so…
In three months, when the year of the kraken rotates out, this is real garbage.
If there’s no Cabalist Tome and no Firelands Portal, the only spells that could trigger it are Blizzard, Flamestrike, Meteor, Pyroblast and Glacial Mysteries. Blizzard sees some play and Pyro is often a finisher so it probably won’t trigger it.
Let’s see what next expansions can do to this card. Potential…

    • Spencer Gillis
      November 30, 2017 at 10:04 pm

I find it highly unlikely that they won’t add any spells that cost 5 or more for mage in the next two expansions. Seems like there are always two or so per expansion.

      • D00mnoodle
        December 1, 2017 at 4:13 am

Priest has enough strong legendaries to be honest, mage could use some more (they only really have antonidas and rhonin (slow and wild only) Also the DK doesn’t really count since almost every DK is strong so every class gained a strong legendary in KFT

To be whole heartedly fair, drawing a 5/5 for the rest of the game is a better spot than most decks in a top deck war.

This card is decent is sold if you casted two 5+ spells but otherwise it is severely underpowered. I don’t know, I just don’t like this card.

    • OrangeMaestro
      November 30, 2017 at 8:17 pm

But doesn’t this card seem OP with the new card “Deck of Wonders”, if you draw all 5 cards, then you can summon 5 dragons with this card

      • Astranoth
        November 30, 2017 at 8:28 pm

True, but it’s not consistent enough that you will draw all those Deck of Wonders cards

      • lujanimo
        November 30, 2017 at 10:34 pm

I doubt the spells cast by Deck of Wonders will count, as you’re not actually PLAYING the spells from hand, similar to rogue’s ambush spells’ interaction with auctioneer.
