The survivability of the Taunt strategy combines with the spite and cube tactics with a few different key cards providing a variety of options for mid to late game control and several game winning combos. This means that if you are unlucky enough to draw UI on or before turn 6, you still have enough tricks up your sleeve to make up for it.

Prince Keleseth, if drawn early enough, makes a significant difference to the taunt minions with lower attack and defence values. He can tip the scales in your favour when things develop into a battle of attrition and a long slog for board control. In short, the extra +1/+1 on your taunts gives you more time to recruit and protect the heavy hitters which will reduce the opposing hero. Druids of the Scythe and Claw and Shellshifters miss out on his benefits, but their flexibility makes them valuable inclusions in the deck.

Ixlid can tuck in early if the taunt line is holding, or wait until later turns. Ideal for pumping out more taunt minions in time for Hadronyx to drop down, or for doubling the damage output of any offensive recruit. An Ixlid – Twig combo is a game winner, allowing you to recruit, for example, two Ironbarks and two Tyrantus in a single turn.

The cubes can also maximise the number of taunt minions recruited before Hadronyx drops in. If you need that board filled in a pinch, use a cube to destroy Hadronyx. This also allows you to activate that deathrattle up to five times in a game, if using two cubes. Take care with this against opponents with mind control and equivalent abilities.

The Volcanosaur earns a place for its potential damage output with +3 attack and windfury adapts. The Bonemare could probably be switched out, but it can be a lifesaver at times. The Violet Wyrm is the odd card in the deck, I only play it because I have it. Maybe a stormwind champion would be better.
