Mulligans

General Mulligans

While your mulligans will be highly contingent on what opponent you face, these are solid cards to have in your opening hand. Keleseth is Keleseth. Glacial shard is a great turn one, forcing your opponent to respond and potentially ruining his plans. Frostrider is an important tempo play, having a 4/4 on the board turn three or two (should that be necessary) is important in most matchups. Acolyte of pain is a flexible cycle card which is important in most matchups - it trades with agressive decks early game, and if its not used early, it can be combo'd with volcano for a full clear and 3 drawn cards turn 7 or 8.

The rest of the matchups are not listed since it will depend on what you think the specific deck your playing against is, but use this general list as a reference point. The cards are listed in order of importance.

Torture your opponents to death with ice-cream and madness after staying alive on the board and frustrating their efforts to finish you off!

The goal is to make smart trading plays to either stay alive – against aggro, or apply pressure against combo and OTK. Against Combo or Control always prioritize card draw in your mulligan. Against aggro, go for the board clear, glacial shard, or a strong 3-drop for the specific matchup ( Ooze against Kingsbane rogue for instance).

ALWAYS KEEP KELESETH. yes.

You can go for other synergies during the mid-game, such as the ice-cream armor gain – but only if that is also the smartest tempo play for you given your hand, or if you have nothing else to do. The synergies and madness truly begin once you successfully shudderwok, so don’t worry too much about getting full value – stats on the board matter a lot in this deck.

Against aggro don’t worry about a successful permanent shudderwok, if you have it and you are worried about a potential damage swing-lethal next turn, play it to stay alive- and beat your opponent by ruling the board late game with bigger useful minions.

You will not usually kill your opponent quickly, and they may even believe they have a chance to win based on the wacky battlecries happening: This is the essence of the carnival-themed torture, give your opponent hope and then crush it with ice cream and treasure chests. This deck can be competitive if played well, and its the funnest shudderwok variant i’ve tried since you usually actually get to see the Wok’s go off instead of having your opponent concede instantly.
