Mulligans

General Mulligans

In general, these are the cards you will want to start the game with. Having a 2 mana - Draw 3 cards option to play on turn 2, or even turn 1 with the coin, will increase the chances that you have cards you will need to keep the board.

If you are able to start the game with a Firefly and quickly build a better spellstone, you can out-value your opponent fairly quickly. Against faster decks, however, if you aren't able to have minions on board, getting an additional one or two spells from the spellstone probably won't be able to save you. Focus more on having minions on board, or drawing into your minions with Book of Specters instead of focusing on the spellstone.

The goal of this deck is to control the
board, mostly through minion presence. Ruby Spellstone, Shimmering Tempest, and Steam Surger can all create spells for you to use to
continue to control the game. Book of Specters becomes much more
consistent in this deck due to only running four spells in the list,
and can create even more value if paired with Archmage Arugal.
Archmage Arugal can also get added value if used with Sandbinder,
Bonfire Elemental, or if applicable, Harrison Jones.

Voodoo Doll and Baron Geddon both
become significantly stronger or more useful if played after Frost
Lich Jaina. Voodoo Doll can be used to destroy a high threat target
that your opponent has on board, and if killed off using your Frost
Lich Jaina hero power, will also create a lifesteal Water Elemental
for you. Baron Geddon’s “end of turn” effect will not only deal
damage to the board (hopefully clearing at least some of the
opponent’s minions) but because he is an elemental, all damage done
with his effect will become life gain for your hero. This often can
become a full, or near full, heal to your hero, while maintaining a
dominate board position.

Harrison is simply a tech card that can
be combined with a few cards, as mentioned above, but if weapons are
not prevalent in the meta, Harrison can easily be changed out for a
different tech card, or if you are seeing a decent amount of
aggressive decks, you could put in another Tar Creeper or other early
game minion to combat the aggression. Another option against an
aggressive meta would be to remove one of the Blazecallers for an
early game taunt.

Arcane articifer seems kind of useless in the deck. I like the deck though would probably swap him out for primordial glyph though.

Thanks for the feedback! And Artificer does seem to be a little useless for tons of armor gain, but I figured you could get a little armor from it. It just added another small minion to contest early board, as well as be an added elemental trigger for cases such as playing Artificer plus Book of Specters on turn 3, leading into a triggered Steam Surger on turn 4. I was also trying not to add TOO many spells to get a better benefit from the Book, but I’m not sure how many spells that actually is. I’m excited to do some experimenting and see how it all goes. If you do end up trying it, I’d love to hear how it goes for you!
