Mulligans
General Mulligans
Low cost damage is a priority. High Priest Thekal early is huge if you can follow it up with big heals. Wild Pyro/Equality are also reasonable targets, especially vs aggro.
Aggro Mulligans
Same as general but get your board clear ready.
First draft of a post Rasta Heal Paladin. This deck wants to leverage the new powerful Rastakhan cards like High Priest Thekal, Spirit of the Tiger, Zandalari Templar, and Shirvallah, the Tiger to create an insurmountable amount of life gain for your opponent to have to deal with and beat them up with big tigers and efficient damage from midrange minions like Corpsetaker, Zilliax, and Happy Ghoul. Right now I don’t think there’s enough damage here for a real win condition. It reallly depends on how effecting the Spirit is. Its possible this is more effective as a smaller package to combine with Breakfast Paladin or Buff Paladin.
Alternate considerations:
I’m loathe to cut any of the Wild Pyromancer/Equality/Consecrate package, but maybe this deck needs to be more aggro and rely on healing over board clears. This is probably where an Egg/Cube package or Mech package would probably go.
Windfury Harpy for Corpsetaker synergy. Would probably have to dump an A New Challenger but I kinda want to see if that card will actually work first.
I think Howling Commander could work super well with Shirvallah, the Tiger , Zilliax, and Crystalsmith Kangor but struggled to find room for it. It was in my initial build, but I realized that there’s not a lot of great ways to heal early (essential for Happy Ghoul unless Fungal Enchanter is in there. In a similar vein, Meat Wagon could be a fun way to get Spirit of the Tiger out. Uther of the Ebon Blade may be the first add made, as I wonder if this deck runs out of threats and needs some more late game value. There’s a bunch of stuff to play around with, with cards like Vicious Scalehide, Fungalmancer, weapon or silence tech, Zola, the Gorgon , and even Leeroy all having impact.
I look forward to seeing this alternative to Even/Odd Pally develop when the set releases!
