Introduction

Hey guys, mcdm here with my first actual deck submission. After seeing Totemic Smash being revealed, I knew that I just had to whip up a Malygos shaman and unleash my inner Thrall amongst the peasants of Rank 5-Legend. This is my submission for Kiwiinbacon’s rastakhan’s rumble deckbuilding contest, good luck to everyone else!

Changelog

12/5/18: -2 Omega Mind -1 Bloodmage Thalnos -1 Harrison Jones +2 Saronite Chain Gang +1 Prince Keleseth +1 Krag'wa, the Frog

Ways to Combo

Our combo without Alexstrasza can deal up to 30 damage, perfect against aggro matchups and other combo decks. Against decks that can go over 30, we have Alex and we can have multiple tries at combos by using Eureka and getting more spells with Hagatha the Witch.

The main line (30) is Eureka pulling Malygos and then following up with 2 Lightning Bolt and Totemic Smash , all for a perfect 10 mana spent. That is the maximum damage that we can do in one turn, but feel free to swap a card such as a Zap! for a Lava Burst if you find yourself just needing a little more to finish enemies off

The Deck

A massive majority of the deck is just survival tools until we can manage to scrape off of our combo. We can use Spirit of the Frog to combo withZap! to draw our 1 cost spells for the finishing blows with the goose, or we can use our removal cards and go from Lightning Storm into Hex  into Volcano to draw our Eureka , and by having the spirit with stealth for 1 turn, we can almost guarantee a draw of something that we want. The ridiculous amount of lifesteal and board clears in this deck mainly from the shudderwock control package while drawing cards withSpirit of the Frog , Mana Tide Totem , and more allow us to get our cards faster for our wincondition

Matchups

Rule 1 of Hearthstone: Always keep Prince Keleseth in mulligan.

Going up against control, keep Mana Tide Totem for more draw to combo them first. Removal in these games will feel less useful, but cards like Hex are lifesavers versus big threats such as The Lich King or Hadronox or whatever it may be that our enemy throws at us. In matchups where our enemy has more than 30 health, we can Alexstrasza them to try and get them within range, but those pesky druids might be a problem. A possible workaround might be getting something such as Death and Decay or Death Coil from The Lich King , but obviously requires RNG to be on our side. If we do get either of these, you have to keep in mind that we HAVE to play it alongside Eureka with Malygos as our only minion in hand to guarantee some damage getting punched in, because We cannot drop the goose for 9 mana and still play Death Coil or Death and Decay which cost 2 and 3 mana respectively.

Versus aggro matchups, keep Lightning Storm and possibly Volcano if you are certain that it is aggro. Zap! is a great card against aggro, and these games we should shut them out with our board clears, life gains, big guys, value from The Lich King and Hagatha the Witch . Don’t be afraid to drop a naked Omega Mind early on to keep up with their minions, sometimes soaking some damage is the best thing you can do, and just stall until you get more clears and a rage inducing Healing Rain to put the pace of the game into your hands. You can swap in a Harrison Jones if you are playing against too much aggro, this is a good card in most of these matchups, and especially against decks like Odd Paladin where Vinecleaver is a huge value generator for them, Harrison comes in big and can cause some easy concedes on the spot from your opponent. Zilliax is probably one of the more underrated cards against more aggresive tempo-ey decks, and man this card just works its magic in just about every archetype it seems. All of his abilities make him so well rounded, gaining 3 health and killing a minion most of the time while only losing the divine shield makes him a great card even though we can’t take advantage of his magnetic keyword.

Depending on how well this does I might add more later, feel free to leave suggestions below! (Replacement cards going to be added later)

I don’t know what’s scarier, the amount of legendaries for this deck, or the fact that I have them all…. Anyway, this deck looks really fun, can’t wait to give it a try tonight, thank you !

Great to hear! A budget version of this deck is unfortunately not viable by any means probably, have fun using all of your shiny legendaries!

    This deck is awesome!)
    Thx, Mcdm!
I opt out Lich King for Toad Loa and Johns for Zentimo, it may not be a very competitive choice, but it is SO fun!

Yeah I just added Krag’wa to the list after seeing it provide some outs that I hadn’t previously thought of, glas to hear that you are enjoying the deck!

I’m also a part of the deckbuilding contest, and I love Malygos shaman, but I would recommend cutting the Lich King and maybe Harrison for 2 Fireplume Harbingers to discount electra for even more damage with your combo.

Cheating out a lich king isn’t a bad thing with eureka if we have 2 in hand or need to live. fireplumes for electra were something I considered but doesn’t seem like it is consistent or impactful

I feel like you may want to consider Krag’wa, The Frog for value, and due to the fact that it allows you to use your combo damage spells before going off.

Yeah probably should add him, completely blanked on adding krag’wa when deckbuilding

I have been playing goose Shaman for a while now in standart ladder and I am not able to pull of any combos with Malygose because I have too many unplayable cards in my hand (too high mana cost, Hex/vulcano without a target,..) and because almost every card in my deck that costs under 7 mana is either for boardclears, drawing or cards that you need for either drawing combos or malygos combos. So I think the only thing that malygos shaman needs is a decent earlygame with some board-pressure and some board-controll instead of just board-controll and healing.

also it is kinda annoying using 2 or 3 turns to play the high cost minions while you have your malygos combo in hand so it is 100% garanteed to pull out malygos

Too many late game minions to accurately pull Maly out of a Eureka
