Mulligans
Midrange Mulligans
Generally you just want to curve out into your 5,6,7 drops, but there is some nuiance to the mulligan. Batty Guest is fantastic turn one, and synergizes well with Doggie Biscuit and Frenzied fangs, but both of those are also versatile enough in the midgame that I don't mind drawing them later. Selective breeder and K9OTron are must keeps. Spirit Poacher into Wild Spirit is a great 2 into 3 or turn 5 play. Irondeep Trog is better against combo, Batty Guest is best against Agro, and Peasant against Control where you are going to need the cards.
I returned to HS last week after a 4 year hiatus. I climbed to Diamond with the free Beast of the Deep Hunter, then built my own found here once it was unlocked. I breezed through the rest of diamond and hit legend this morning. This is a cheap option if you are new or returning, but is also highly effective against the top meta decks like post the recent balance patch.
