Well met!
We're looking for good tempo while also having around a bit of board clears too
Uther's GiftConsecration or tempo like Wickerflame Burnbristle Runi, Time Explorer are always a keep
Zepgrys the Great is a solid choice, and sometimes you'll end up against disrupting decks, messing up your no duplicates deck. Use it for ramp up in those match ups. Reno DK is not affected by having duplicates later on.
Sword of the Fallen to thin out the deck + get the value from secrets, Crystology for quick draw
Runi, Time Explorer is always the best keep, being so versatile. I also like to keep City Tax since you can trade it if you realize you're against control decks
I know you’re a fellow Paladin enjoyer, or that you at least like Reno decks. What can be more fun than a deck with many unique cards, and for that we need the Highlander package. And more cards means more unique interactions = fun, so there we go -> Prince Renathal .
We’re sacrficing a bit of winrate, for more variety and fun… Sure, you can cut him off and add more control tools and faster draw for the exodia ending against control decks, but we’re not here for an OTK deck. We go with much value, decent control, and OTK as last resort.
Use Griftah, Trusted Vendor mostly for draw 3 or some early tempo if needed
We’re keeping Exodia on the list in case we’re having a hard time ending the game, so we have Sing-Along Buddy in the deck outside of E.T.C., Band Manager because we have a good draw with Crystology , and Garrison Commander inside it since you don’t have direct draw to him. To finish off the game whenever we get to the exodia point after all the fun, we smash the E.T.C., Band Manager and pick Garrison Commander.
As for the DKs, you’ll always want to play Uther of the Ebon Blade last, to prepare for the combo or mostly even play it the turn before OTK-ing. Lightforged Cariel is good surival tool early, while think of Reno, Lone Ranger as just a polymorph+board clear card. Don’t overthink the last 2 DKs, since they’re not canceling each other. You’ll be able to keep the weapon from Lightforged Cariel even after playing Reno, Lone Ranger. Hold onto the weapon as long as possible before playing Uther.
In case one of our Exodia pieces has been compromised, don’t worry, since you have a fair chance at winning the game against the control decks by outvalueing them. And hopefully Kil'jaeden is still an option, if not… you might still win anyway.
Now, some alternatives I find relevant:
Nozdormu the Timeless is really solid againts aggro, but a dead card against control at best (it’s usually a self sabotage and you’ll regret playing it). You might like it tho…
Auctionmaster Beardo can be a real good addition in case you somehow choose to include the libram package, since you can reset your hero power for 0 mana after having discounted the Libram of Wisdom
Sir Finley of the Sands I really tried to make this card work, and as much as I like having the class’ highlander signature card in the deck, it ends up being mostly a dead draw since it only upgrade into the basic hero powers. If you can find a way to get it into your hand on 2 most of the time tho, go for it!
Wickerflame Burnbristle Replace this with some draw, best bet is finding something from Paladin class, or another board clear like Enter the Coliseum. I’d even change it with Sanc'Azel because it is such a sticky resource, setting up nice trades along the match. I don’t have it crafted yet, but I think I’ll include it later on.
Main problem I found with the deck is not having enough hand space since many cards require specific situations, so you can opt for Audio Amplifier.
I’m aware there are better decks out there, but I always wanted a Paladin deck with big minions and cards like Uther of the Ebon Blade ,being such a cool design and concept. This is a mix of both worlds, fun and with a fair chance at winning the game. So far it is the best one I found for my style.
