Mulligans
This is a homebrew deck, I’m climbing Legend with it right now without tryharding too much, it handles well the various matchups. This is my first shared deck, so I apologize in advance if I misexplain mechanics or matchups.
1) Galakrond helps against slower decks such as Priest, Mage or Warlock, the 3 damages per turn add up quickly.
2) Ironbeak Owl helps against Pure Paladin, even though you could find a use for it in most games.
3) Archivist Elysiana helps you resist to fatigue once you’ve drawn your entire deck and already started to damage your opponent, it gives you 10 more turns to hero power in their face, and with enough knowledge of the game you can pick the proper cards to give you an edge.
4) Transfer Student is a personal choice, the different effects aren’t all too bad, but feel free to replace it with your own choice.
5) In most games, I use one Bloodsworn Mercenary for the Risky Skipper – Armorsmith combo, and the other one for Kargath Bladefist.
6) It’s okay to use the Risky Skipper – Armorsmith – Bloodsworn Mercenary combo and not kill all their minions, you stack up a lot of armor and they have to deal with what’s left on your side after your turn. I don’t mind 1 or 2 enemy minions alive after the combo, even more so if I have used Battle Rage as well.
7) I don’t mind keeping Ancharr in my starting hand, it helps draw you deck easier, it’s okay if Corsair Cache is wasted.
AGGRO MATCHUPS :
You have enough early minions to respond to aggro decks during the first few turns, but you should try and keep Risky Skipper, Armorsmith and Bloodsworn Mercenary to clean what’s left on the board on Turn 6, or Turn 8 if they have a slow draw, so you can use Battle Rage as well.
OTHER MATCHUPS :
Quest Warlock : Don’t use your Risky Skipper-Armorsmith-Bloodsworn Mercenary combo too soon, it’s okay to lose health in the early stages of the game, being around 15 health while controlling the board and then finding ways to stack up armor makes their Alexstrasza useless. The trick is knowing when and how to clean the board with your other spells.
Galakrond Warlock : You have many ways to control the board, get Galakrond quickly.
Mage : You can control the board early with minions, get Galakrond quickly and keep damaging them. You have enough spells and Deathwing to control the board during the next phases of the game. Don’t waste your spells too quickly, try to find a way to maximize their efficiency.
Various Warrior Matchups : You have more ways to stack up armor and control the board than them to find the damages to kill you. Use your spells with efficiency. You even have Elysiana to remove bombs against the Bomb Warrior if you’re in a tough position.
Shaman : You have enough minions to handle their totems during the first turns, and you have enough spells to deal with what comes next. Use your spells with efficiency. Try to keep something to handle the 2 8/8 when they play their Galakrond.
Priest : Draw your cards, get Galakrond quickly, you can kill them before they use your cards against you. I won’t lie, it’s a coinflip matchup, I have a 50% winrate against Priests.
Rogue : Draw your cards, get Galakrond quickly. It’s okay if you take damages during the first few turns.
Druid : You have enough ways to wipe the board, try to use your spells with efficiency, try to draw your cards to keep up with them.
Paladin : Get Galakrond quickly. Use Ironbeak Owl when you think it has the most impact and gives you the edge to win.
