I did try to theorycrafts something like that, but then I realized that Celestial Alignment is just better for those Combo decks. Not only you have two copies (so it’s more reliable), but it takes like 1-2 turns after Celestial to set up your combo, unlike Guff, where it would take you much longer to required mana.

Some people were already running Mr. Smite combo in Anacondra Druid and I think that’s the way to go. But those strategies didn’t really get new cards – maybe Pathmaker for Nourish, but I’m still not sold on that one.

We can go even further back, with Medivh playing Medivh and Khadgar playing Khadgar 🙂 But yeah, I get what you mean, however the difference is that that others are only cosmetic Hero portraits, while Illidan is the basic Hero for Demon Hunter class. They can’t realistically do that for every Hero portrait because they would have to exclude A LOT of iconic characters, but they can do that for base Heroes (like we don’t have an Anduin card or a Malfurion card). And cosmetics are probably considered “non-canon”, unlike the base Heroes and cards – to not look far, the new Mecha skins.

Four seasons even, since the event is supposed to end with the 1st expansion of 2022 (probably early April).

If I remember correctly, people calculated that it will be about 3 games per day on average to get there. But it looks like Alliance players will have it a bit easier, since (from my experience so far) Horde is much more common, so you don’t get nearly as many bonus points for beating players from opposing faction.

I’m sure that you can craft them, but I don’t know about packs. I would assume that you can get them in packs too, honestly. (Non-Golden versions, that is.)

I didn’t look at the stats closely, but I wouldn’t be surprised at all. The deck has up to ~30% popularity at certain ranks (high Diamond), when something gets so common, people start playing decks that have a good matchup against it, or add some techs to improve win rate.

But I think that it’s still a very good deck, one of the best in the game.

I’m really sorry about that, could you please send a screenshot? The problem is that ads are targeted depending on your region and so on, and it doesn’t happen to me or the devs. If you show us which ads are problematic we’ll try to get rid of them in favor of less intrusive ones.

If you’re missing a lot of cards from Year of the Phoenix AND play Wild, then I guess it’s pretty good value. But Wild Bundles have higher value than Standard ones anyway. I still don’t recommend it for Standard players, 4 months in Standard is not enough IMO.

Yeah, the animation didn’t make much sense gameplay-wise – Big Spell Mage absolutely wouldn’t play Ignite.

Yeah, that’s how it should work. First spell swaps its cost with Balinda’s attack, second with health (or vice versa, however they code it).

Haha, this is one of those cards that would be insane in the right deck… but there is no right deck for it 😀 Hopefully the plan is to reveal more expensive spells, I liked the old Big Spell Mage deck a lot!

Not in this card, but Apotheosis gives it Lifesteal, and makes the Deathrattle damage heal you too. Stuff like Lifesteal or Poisonous works with Deathrattle damage too.

His point is that if you give the card Lifesteal through Apotheosis, it will heal for the damage done from Deathrattle. Against a bigger board, this + Apotheosis is going to be a full heal basically (unless Silenced / Transformed).

I’m not sure about Quest Warlock, you lose the ability to damage yourself with Hero Power. Might still be worth it, but you would need to add more self-damage cards instead.

Yeah, at first I thought that it might summon two copies of Drek’thar himself (two extra 4/4’s), but I realized that two minions from your deck would make more sense. The wording is clear once you know it, but yeah, it can be a bit confusing when you first read it (but it’s hard to make it both short, clear and understandable at the same time).

That’s aboslutely true. If you build your entire deck around Drek’thar, you still have a functioning (albeit a bit weaker) Aggro deck. But if you build your entire deck around Vanndar, then not drawing it can be a big deal.

Vanndar’s effect is much stronger in the vacuum (reducing the cost of multiple cards by 3 is MASSIVE), but it’s also much harder to pull off and decks that will play it would most likely rely on him heavily.

Third parties are still doing the revelas. It’s just that Blizzard has hidden who’s doing it this expansion because they wanted to protect them against “backlash” from the community given the current situation at the company (and let them back out even at the last minute if they want to without anyone knowing that they did).

It makes the reveal season much harder for us, but I guess that I understand where they’re coming from.

Did they actually say that? Because in one of his AMAs, Iksar was saying that they’d love to do some cross-promotions with other franchises. Of course this is not exactly a cross-promo because it doesn’t promote anything specific, but I’m actually happy that they’re going beyond “Warcraft universe” (just like they did with Diablo in Mercs/BG/Duels).
