More Information About Balance Patch This Week? Saviors of Uldum Nerf Candidates!
Sorry, but that is one of the silliest statements I’ve heard.
Nerfs are done to balance the game, do you think that something that is too powerful should be left that way just for the sake of it? If they have means to solve the problem easily, why not do it?
And even if something is not exactly overpowered, but it gets nerfed because people “cry” about it, it’s still not a bad thing. If majority of the playerbase didn’t enjoy playing against something to the point that they were crying for a nerf, then it shouldn’t be in the game in the first place. The main goal of game devs is to create the product that players will enjoy and have fun playing, so if they clearly don’t enjoy something, they should change it. End of story.

I agree that it would nerf the deck RIGHT NOW, but the thing is that the combo would still be around and it would probably come back in the future. If they decide that DS + IF is a problem, then (in my opinion) they should get rid of it, not cards that support it, since it’s just avoiding the problem instead of approaching it head-on.

That’s true, although the thing about Hunter is that it’s difficult to pin-point the one “overpowered” card. Hunter has no “Luna’s” or “Boom” of its own. I would say Master’s Call before, but the truth is that Highlander Hunter is great and doesn’t even run it. So I honestly don’t know what card they could nerf. Other than Zephrys, which I’ve mentioned in article (it would hit both Highlander Mage & Hunter, both of which are some of the strongest decks right now).
Plus, I think that Hunters might balance themselves a bit after the nerf patch. It seems to be doing so well right now because of good matchups against some of the top meta decks – maybe if those decks become weaker and others take their place (like Tempo Rogue for example), Hunter will also balance itself naturally.
But I wouldn’t be surprised if we see some Hunter cards getting hit.

Yeah, but Barnes is in Wild, and they clearly care more about Standard balance than Wild balance.

That’s right, but we have no clue whether they will decide to rotate something to HoF instead of nerfing it yet.

To be honest, I’m not up to date with Wild, so I only talked about cards in Standard.
I usually start playing Wild after the Standard meta gets stale and boring, and that’s not the case yet ๐

I do think that the combo has to go, sooner or later. But Priest needs to get some really strong card in return. And not only expansion cards – I’ve been saying for years that Basic/Classic set should be reworked/balanced with all the experience they have right now, and Priest is a prime example.

On Turn 1, Mana Wyrm was clearly a better card. But in the late game, Cleric easily wins. Mana Wyrm will rarely snowball in the late game – Cleric can still at the very least draw you a card, and in the right deck draw you multiple cards (e.g. Pyro + Circle combos).
That’s why I do think that the cards are comparable in their power level.

Yeah, I can see Cleric getting nerfed. It’s one of the best 1-drops in the game, Mana Wyrm was on a similar power level and it was nerfed a while ago. But it doesn’t really solve the Divine Spirit + Inner Fire problem. It makes the deck weaker, but the combo is still there and it will still be played in one form or the other.
Aggro / Tempo Warrior Deck Guide - Saviors of Uldum - August 2019
Thanks for letting me know, I’ve fixed it.
Aggro / Tempo Warrior Deck Guide - Saviors of Uldum - August 2019
Yes, I’m also glad that we see some faster Warrior decks. Tempo / Dragon Warrior from around Whispers of the Old Gods were some of my favorite decks back in the day, and while this one plays a bit differently, I still like it!
I’ve seen some players trying Octosari, but a general consensus is that it’s too slow. Feel free to try it out if you have it, though, no harm in experimenting ๐

You’re right, my bad! I completely forgot that it’s a Mech ๐ Fixing that part.

Sorry to hear that. That’s how randomness works, sadly. If you get lucky you can roll 5 packs and if you don’t you can get 0 even if you watch the entire thing. It would probably be better to have a guaranteed one, but I don’t think that they will change it.
I didn’t get any either this time around, by the way :p

Budget decks were just updated for Saviors of Uldum meta! I really like this batch, I think that we have some really strong options.

It most likely does not increase your chances – they add the pool of eligible players from all streams together and then roll 1.5k packs among them. I would assume that the same user watching on 2 streams won’t enter the drafting pool twice.
I’m can’t be 100% sure if you can get more than 1 – I never did (last two times Twitch drops were up I got one Classic pack each). But I would assume so, because I don’t see anything in the rules stating that you can’t.

It’s every hour of transmission, not every hour you watch. You have to be online exactly at the time they drop those. I’m not sure if they are given out EXACTLY at even hours, though, so I won’t help you with that (but it would make most sense).

I don’t think that re-casts will count. They didn’t count last time IIRC. But I’ll probably watch re-casts anyway, so we’ll see :p
Times are really bad for EU, but I guess that the event should go well into EU afternoon after it starts at 3 AM. Still might not be enough time to get 6 hours in total, but what can we do?
Combo Priest - Saviors of Uldum - #8 Legend (Meati)
Final card is Madame Lazul, sorry about that!
Best Hearthstone Decks - Standard Meta Tier List - Whizbang's Workshop (May 2024)
I never dismiss cards just based on statistics, but in this case – come on – no matter how difficult the deck is, if it’s good, it won’t have a 40% win rate. Decks like Patron Warrior or Miracle Rogue often had win rate lower than their true power (because players who didn’t know how to play them lowered that), but they still registered an average of 50-52% at their peaks.
If we look at the win rate in Legend only, which should include people who know more about the deck on average, it’s still only 43% for Archaeology. Which is better, but still far from great. Mecha’thun also has only 45.5% win rate, and the win rate is actually bumped by Mecha’thun Warrior (which is a significantly better deck than Mecha’thun Warlock). “People playing suboptimal list” is also a bad argument, because same can be said about any other deck. No deck has been optimized yet, and even if some were, a lot of people aren’t actively looking for the best deck every day and just play whatever they played on the first few days.
Sure, a few people had solid runs with Mecha’thun Warlock during the first days of the expansion, but it doesn’t make it a great deck. The only good matchup is Control Warrior, and while popular, it’s still only 10-15% of the meta. Most of the other matchups are bad, with faster decks being the worst offenders. Murloc Paladin, Zoo or any kind of Hunter just destroy it. It is just not doing well and again – I’m not “dismissing it like that”. I always do a lot of research before calling the deck bad, and RIGHT NOW Quest Warlock (Mecha’thun or not) is just bad. Things can still change once the meta stabilizes, but currently those are the facts. And I honestly don’t think that it’s going to change, because compared to other Quests, Warlock’s looks really bad. It’s probably the hardest one to finish, and the pay-off isn’t spectacular unless you high-roll (making the deck even less consistent).
Congrats on having a full set of Rise of Shadows Legendaries then, I guess?
