Saviors of Uldum Card Reviews #7 - Ancient Mysteries, Crystal Merchant, Dune Sculptor, Garden Gnome, Hyena Alpha, Injured Tol'vir, Mischief Maker And More!

You have more ranked wins than I combined, by the way ๐Ÿ˜€ I have “only” 1.9k on Warlock, 1.8k on Druid and then a huge fall to 1k on Priest.

Then, even though I’m playing the game for almost 6 years already, I have only ~250 ranked wins on Shaman. It’s my only non-Golden Hero. I just really, REALLY hate Shaman’s Hero Power. I find it way too inconsistent to my liking. Same goes for Lightning Storm, one of the class staples.

Saviors of Uldum Card Reviews #7 - Ancient Mysteries, Crystal Merchant, Dune Sculptor, Garden Gnome, Hyena Alpha, Injured Tol'vir, Mischief Maker And More!

I would probably rate the classes in that order (from most to least favorite);

– Warlock
– Druid
– Priest
– Mage
– Paladin
– Warrior
– Rogue
– Hunter
– Shaman

But it obviously depends on the meta and decks that are currently available for each of those classes. For example, in case of Warlock I prefer slower builds, so when Zoo is the only viable build, I’d rate it lower.

Fixed the part about passive, I apologize for that (I admit that I was really busy today and I didn’t proofread it properly).

Zephrys the Great Guide - Everything you need to know about the best Hearthstone card ever

Zephrys only knows the “public” information – stuff that BOTH players can see. So class, health, board state, number of cards in hand, number of cards left in deck etc.

He doesn’t know what you’re holding or your opponent is holding. He doesn’t know what decks you play or your opponent plays. He doesn’t know what cards are in your deck and in what order are they. He doesn’t know any of those. So answer to all of your questions is “no”.

Zephrys the Great Guide - Everything you need to know about the best Hearthstone card ever

I would argue the opposite – in almost all situations, there is no single best card. I mean, if Zephrys had access to ALL the data, like your hand, opponent’s hand, decks both of you are playing etc. then it would be possible to pick 100% best card most of the time. But it’s not the case and it’s up to you to make a decision.

Let’s say that you drop him on T6 with 4 mana left and opponent having a mid-sized minion on the board. You get a 4-drop, a 7-drop and a removal. Would you say that it’s obvious? Because I wouldn’t. Maybe you want to kill the minion immediately, because you have no other removal in your hand? Then you pick it. Maybe you aren’t worried about it that much but want to push the tempo? You pick 4-drop. Maybe you already have other play to fill the remaining mana in your hand? Then you pick a play for next turn. All 3 options are perfectly viable and there is no best option – it depends on your deck, your opponent’s deck, your game plan, cards in your hand, what you expect your opponent to have in your hand and so on. Another example – you’re running low on cards but you also want to put pressure on your opponent because he’s at 15 already and you want to kill him before he finds X card – would you rather pick a Sprint to refill and basically skip the turn or a good, big minion to put on the board immediately? Again, there is no correct choice here – it all depends on many things. When you’re low – do you pick healing or do you risk it and pick something else instead? It’s Turn 8, your opponent is low but you can’t kill him immediately because he’s at 10 and you know that he might heal – do you risk picking a Pyro so you can potentially get lethal in 2 turns, or do you pick something that might be more useful immediately?

It giving you lethal or it giving you an AoE clear are the most obvious examples, but it will be much harder in most of cases. Discover also makes the card way more fun as well as skill-testing – you will often have to make a decision based on your game/meta knowledge and not only on the information that are available to Zephrys.

Zephrys the Great Guide - Everything you need to know about the best Hearthstone card ever

But the effect is not winning you the game in Control mirrors. It just gives you one extra good card with a 3/2 body, which is nearly irrelevant so late in the game. I really don’t see it being worth having another dead card throughout the entire game. It’s not like Elysiana, which adds 10 cards to your deck and prevents fatigue – you will get let’s say an extra threat. Or a removal.

This effect is amazing, but not “I will wait until I have no duplicate in my deck before playing it” amazing. It’s a card that you want to have available at all times, because you never know when it will come handy.

We would have a different conversation if it could give you literally every single card in the game, but Elysiana is not in the pool of cards Zephrys can give you.

Highlander Paladin Theorycraft Deck List โ€“ Saviors of Uldum โ€“ August 2019

Given the rather proactive nature of the deck, I don’t think that Geddon fits in. Geddon is a card that fits into a deck that plays from behind, not one that usually wants to have board.

Those cards also play different roles – Geddon is not a “bomb” card, a win condition. Phaoris is. Dropping him should often create solid boards (even just getting 5/5 + a random 8-drop + a random 4-drop for example would mean that your opponent has to clear those or he loses very quickly).

Both Geddon and Lightforged Blessing (if that’s what you mean by Lifesteal card) would fit into a slower, more Control-oriented build more. And honestly that’s probably how I would have built the deck, but they don’t really fit into this build.

Zephrys the Great Guide - Everything you need to know about the best Hearthstone card ever

You’re saying that people will play it in non-highlander decks? No way, unless they run maybe 3-4 duplicates max. In your average deck, you’d need to get through like 2/3 deck on average to get it activated, and it’s just not worth to keep a dead card for so long. It’s good, but not THAT good.

It would go into 100% of the decks if it could, but it won’t. Read the card carefully ๐Ÿ™‚

Zephrys the Great Guide - Everything you need to know about the best Hearthstone card ever

My guess is that it would give you both to pick from – a 1 mana card to fit into that turn, or a powerful card to drop on next turn (and since it knows how many cards you have in hand, it would see that you would be able to play Mountain Giant next turn).

But we’ll get to test it soon. I honestly can’t wait to play around with the card, it made me so much more hyped for the expansion!

Saviors of Uldum Expansion Guide! Release Date, Card Spoilers, Pre-Purchase Info, New Mechanics and More!

Not much, really. It releases (just like Dalaran Heist) a ~month after expansion launch, and we’ll probably get to fight alongside League of Explorers this time around. But even the last part is just a theory ๐Ÿ™‚

We should learn more about it soon!

Blatant Decoy

There’s so much wrong with this comment chain…

Spirit of the Shark works only with minions, so you can’t double your Eviscerate with it.

And you can’t pull 2 copies of Malygos with it, because it doesn’t COPY anything – it just pulls a minion from your hand.

And Spirit of the Shark doesn’t work with Deathrattles in the first place… Spirit of the Shark does literally nothing for that combo.

Obelisk (Quest) Priest Theorycraft Deck List - Saviors of Uldum - August 2019

Hahah, okay, I can see how the name can be confusing. Lots of people don’t remember how Priest’s Quest is named, but everyone remembers Desert Obelisk.

But I still think that we should name it something else than “Quest Priest”. Because imagine 3rd or 4th wave of Quest cards being released, calling each of those 27/36 decks “Quest X” would be really confusing :p

Hearthstone Update โ€“ August 1 โ€“ Saviors of Uldum

Okay, that’s weird, the new cards were always available to see from Collection manager when the pre-patch hit a few days before launch.

But then again, Blizzard is not exactly known from their consistency, so I guess that’s that.

Hearthstone Update โ€“ August 1 โ€“ Saviors of Uldum

We don’t. The nerf was incidental, it was a general mechanic change for cards like that (like Crystal Core and now Tekahn), new cards globally changing stats will also work like that most likely. Hopefully, because the previous implementation was terrible. And Quest Rogue sees zero play in Wild anyway, the deck is terrible, so it definitely wasn’t specifically targeted.

Saviors of Uldum Pre-Release Event With Content Creators - Theorycrafting Decks From New Expansion!

Oh heck, Dog is also up… I didn’t really know that they will also be doing it. It’s already around midnight my time and I thought that I’ll be wrapping things up.

I will just post some more interesting theorycrafts from them too, I guess.

Saviors of Uldum Pre-Release Event With Content Creators - Theorycrafting Decks From New Expansion!

Most of those decks are terrible, though ๐Ÿ™‚ They’re unoptimized, experimental theorycrafts. But that’s part of the fun! They might be an okay starting point once the set is out, but people will quickly start playing other stuff (or better versions of those).

Zephrys the Great

Yes, it will try to give you lethal! And not only the simple ones like Fireball. He can try to give you Silence for your minions to get through a Taunt and kill the opponent, or Bloodlust for example to push the remaining extra damage.
