Heistbaron Togwaggle

(Rating based on play it will see in the upcoming meta, similar to trump’s ratings)

3 Stars

A powerful value card in a class that can’t make proper use of value without insta-conceding against aggro decks. However the effect is so strong it will see play, just probably not in any good decks because rogue lacks the good supporting cards to make it work.

3 Stars as a very powerful card in a probably tier 3 or 4 deck.

Trash.
If you want to upgrade your weapon and deal mad amounts of damage to face, just play arcanite reaper + upgrade and SMORC. Why beat around the bush with bombs?

Won’t see play in control as the weapon slot is already contested with supercollider and woodcutter’s axe. 1 mana nerf to Fiery war axe was enough to knock it out of orbit in terms of play, 2 mana nerf??? Not a chance. The effect of Blastmaster boom is probably not enough to justify running such a bad card. Just run clockwork goblin instead.

1 Star, won’t see play after the first week or two of the next expansion once people have realized the card is trash.

Blastmaster Boom

(Rating based on play it will see in the upcoming meta, similar to trump’s ratings)

5 Stars

With Dr Boom mad genius hero card being available, warrior will likely already be tier 1. This a GvG Dr. 7, heralded as one of the most OP cards of all time, with an even better effect (most of the time). Its limit to warrior-only makes it a little weaker as Dr. 7 was traditionally played in more aggro/midrange classes, but nevertheless its a Dr. 7 with a stronger effect. Run it with clockwork goblin and Dr Boom Mad Genius to make a disgustingly strong deck.

5 Stars as a powerful card in a tier 1 deck.

While seaforiam bomber saw no play whatsoever outside of meme decks (which it still won’t after the rotation) this card is a mech which means it can be magnetized with Zilliax and has rush with Dr Boom Mad genius. Its also cheaper at 3 mana (where at 5 mana you would start to want a stronger effect on the board, rather than just shuffling a bomb). The value meta we are going into means that control vs control is more likely to happen, thus fatigue battles make this cards effect much stronger. However the only reason it will see play is because of Blastmaster boom.

5 Stars as a 2 of card in a tier 1 deck.

Madame Lazul

(Rating based on play it will see in the upcoming meta, similar to trump’s ratings)

4 Stars

Glimmer root was run heavily in value based meta’s (which is probably the meta we will be in soon) and this card’s effect is stronger than glimmer root because: 1) You have a choice of 3 cards, so you don’t have to pick the bad card glimmer root often gives you. 2) Information on what is in your opponents hand (while a lesser effect than the others is a nice attachment). 3) The effect will always trigger, unlike glimmer root where you sometimes guessed wrong. (Obviously its bad when your opponent has an empty hand).

4 Stars as a very strong card in a value meta, but probably only in a tier 2 (at most) deck. Will become 5 stars when priest gets better removal.

Omega Devastator

(Rating based on play it will see in the upcoming meta, similar to trump’s ratings)

5 Stars

With warrior having the only infinite value hero card (other than Hagatha in shaman), warrior is already looking tier one. This is a card that is good on turn 4 (yeti stats) and disgusting on turn 10. Crowd roaster is run with lots of success in warrior as a very strong card already. 3 mana less for a card with an even stronger effect, that isn’t horribly bad if the effect doesn’t trigger. Its disgustingly strong, especially in a weaker meta (which is most likely to come).

5 Stars as an insane card in a tier 1 deck.

Comparable to “blood to ichor”, a decently strong tempo type card, but ultimately worse as getting a 2/2 for free is better than adding a card to your hand in tempo type decks.

Ran as a one of in control priest, but I don’t see priest being anywhere near tier 1 with the loss of psychic scream and duskbreaker. 3 Stars until more board clears are released for priest.

Swampqueen Hagatha

(Rating based on play it will see in the upcoming meta, similar to trump’s ratings)

3 Stars

It is so slow it hurts to look at.

You could compare this to old ancient of lore, a 7 mana 5/5 which draws 2 cards, a similar effect on the same statline and cost.

The reason its not good is because its a shaman card. AoL was run in druid, which had ramp (OP pre-nerf ramp) which meant you could get AoL out on earlier turns where it wasn’t such a massive tempo loss. In a class that can’t ramp (Shaman) AoL would not be nearly as strong.

3 Stars as a card considered, but not always ran, in a tier 2 deck.

Togwaggle's Scheme

(Rating based on play it will see in the upcoming meta, similar to trump’s ratings)

2 Stars

Its a very strong card, I just don’t see it getting any real play in a viable rogue deck. (I don’t think the pogo hopper deck will be strong either, because rogue just does not have the cards to sustain a control/value deck)

Gang up was pretty much only good in mill rogue, which I don’t see coming back any time soon.

2 Stars, because it will see play, just due to its sheer power, but probably in very niche, weak decks.

The Forest's Aid

(Rating based on play it will see in the upcoming meta, similar to trump’s ratings)

1 Star

Too much mana means you can’t combo this with any strong effects the turn you play it. I don’t see a druid deck being viable with the loss of all its strong cards from year of the mammoth (and the garbage cards available from year of the raven). Even if a treant deck were viable, I don’t see it running this card.

1 Star, won’t see play.

Kalecgos

(Rating based on play it will see in the upcoming meta, similar to trump’s ratings)

4 Stars

Infinite value effect on a huge 4/12 body that does something powerful to the board immediately after play, and has synergy with itself with the discover effect. Will be run in every control mage. Whether or not control mage is tier 1 though, that’s up to whether or not strong removal cards are released (with cards like dragon’s fury rotating out).

Until then its probably a 4 star card as an extremely powerful card in a tier 2 deck.

Hagatha's Scheme

(Rating based on play it will see in the upcoming meta, similar to trump’s ratings)

5 Stars

Only needs to be in hand for 2 turns to be an extremely powerful effect in control shaman, if you keep it for longer its disgustingly overpowered. I’m shocked that this is being printed. It would probably still be run if it had overload (3).

On the very niche chance that you are in a top decking war against an aggro deck (which is very unlikely with so much value generation from cards like the hagatha hero card), then its bad. However this is so unlikely in shaman.

With the Hagatha hero card still being around, this card will be a mainstay in a deck that already looks pretty good in the next meta.

5 Stars as an extremely powerful card in a (at worst) tier 2 deck.

Forbidden Words

(Rating based on play it will see in the upcoming meta, similar to trump’s ratings)

Very strong card which will be run in ever priest deck. Will priest have a viable control deck with psychic scream rotating out? Maybe, but probably not tier 1.

4 stars as a powerful card in a probably tier 2 deck.

EVIL Miscreant

(Rating based on play it will see in the upcoming meta, similar to trump’s ratings)

1 Star

Lets compare this card to Stonehill defender, a very powerful card with similar statline and effect.

Stonehill defender was a card run heavily in all metas it existed, but only because it had taunt and the ability to get more taunt (usually attached to a huge minion like the lich king). You almost never chose small minions with strong effects (like Righteous protector) and if you did, it was because you desperately needed a small taunt that turn, further protecting your hero’s health.

Although it has 1 extra health, the lack of taunt makes its 1/5 statline almost useless in aggro.

If you played Stonehill and had the option of either getting two lackey’s or getting the lich king, I’d pick good ol’ 8/8 instantly without a thought, so this card’s effect is probably weaker than stonehill.

And to wrap this all up, stonehill saw virtually zero play in rogue, so I don’t see a minion with a worse body than stonehill with a worse effect than stonehill, being run in a class that did not run stonehill.

1 Star
(ok arena card though)

Chef Nomi

(Rating based on play it will see in the upcoming meta, similar to trump’s ratings)

3 Stars

Very strong effect, especially with Myra’s. Will this be a consistent combo? Maybe. Could the opponent stop the 6/6’s after you play it? They could with either: equality combos, brawl, twisting nether, frost nova + doomsayer or even mass hysteria. Mass hysteria and brawl will probably be very prevalent in the meta, so this won’t be very good against priest or warrior unless you play around these cards heavily by creating wide boards forcing them to waste their brawls, thus making your combo take much longer to pull off, or you shadowstep Nomi meaning another piece is added to the combo, making it more inconsistent.

Does rogue have enough control cards to sustain themselves for enough turns to pull off this combo? Probably not.

The only way I see this being played is in an aggressive rogue deck that would already run myra’s as a strong card, but just puts in Nomi, not as a deck defining card, but as a back card used to close an aggro vs control matchup in the mid to late game. This way you will be forcing your opponent to play removals, making your future Nomi turn safer, as well as having an extra win condition, SMORC.

I think such a deck would be overpowered pre-rotation with cards like Keleseth, vilespine slayer, Elven minstrel and Baku. However with these strong cards leaving standard, I don’t think rogue has the “oomf” of a strong aggro deck just yet. So I think its a 3 Star card (for now) as a powerful card, run as a backup (similar to prince liam in odd paladin) in a tier 3 (maybe tier 2) deck.

Arch-Villain Rafaam

(Rating based on play it will see in the upcoming meta, similar to trump’s ratings)

5 Stars

Lich king stats for 7 mana, with an effect way stronger than Elise Star seeker (skipping the shuffling map and monkey into your deck), which was a card run heavily in previous meta (although mostly in warrior with its strong control cards). Prince liam was a card run in odd paladin and a 5 star card as a result, if any viable zoo deck is out there, it will run Rafaam as a better prince liam, as a class with natural draw capabilities.

Notably strong combo on turn 8, play The Soulariam, if you draw strong cards, then play them, otherwise play rafaam and the 3 cards become random legendaries that don’t go away at the end of your turn.
