Doom in the Tomb Hallow’s End Event – 23 Wild Cards Go Back to Standard, Dual Class Arena, Free Packs, Legendary Quests, Unique Tavern Brawls – Coming October 8!

It’s almost time for the spooky season, and Hearthstone went all in on this year’s event! Last week, we’ve already announced that 23 Wild cards will be coming back to Standard temporarily, but we finally have a full list of those cards. And that’s not all there is to the event – more awesome stuff like Dual Class Arena coming back or new, seasonal Tavern Brawls with special rewards! We’ll also get a bunch of free packs and other goodies. However, let’s start with the most important info – Wild cards.

The event begins on October 8 at 10 AM PDT (19:00 CEST) and ends on October 30 at 9 AM PDT (18:00 CEST).

Wild Cards Coming Back To Standard

This is definitely the highlight of the upcoming event. 23 Wild cards are coming back to Standard until next expansion. Extra copies of those cards will be given out to players FOR FREE until they rotate out, which means that you don’t need a vast Wild collection to enjoy it. Extra copies can’t be disenchanted. The cards  will be playable in Standard only temporarily – once they rotate out, they go back to being Wild exclusive. Given that A LOT of staples are coming back, their impact on the meta should be tremendous. Here’s a full list of cards:

Neutral

Druid

Hunter

Mage

Paladin

Priest

Rogue

Shaman

Warlock

Warrior

And here’s a full list of cards in a single, handy image:

Free Packs & Legendary Quests

Log in any time during the event to get five free Card Packs – 2x Saviors of Uldum, 2x Rise of Shadows and 1x Rastakhan’s Rumble. No extra requirements – you get them for free!

Additionally, a new Legendary Quest will be unlocked at the start of each event’s week. They will give more card packs or extra gold! Remember that when your Quest log is full, a Legendary Quest will replace one of your current regular Quests, so try to keep free slots going into a new week!

Dual Class Arena

One of the craziest and fan favorite Arena events is also coming back this year. It will work the same way as last time. When you start your Arena run, you pick a class. Then in the next screen you will pick a Hero Power from another class (so DO NOT pick the class you want to have Hero Power from first). After that, you will get offered class cards from both of those classes! This can easily lead to some really broken combos, as normally cards from different classes aren’t balanced around being played together in the same deck.

Weeks 1 and 2 of the event will award a free Arena tickets, so everyone can enjoy it without paying.

Players who already have an active Arena run will get it retired with a refunded ticket. Which means that if you want to maximize your profits, you can start an Arena run, play until you lose twice and sit on the run until event starts – you will get full rewards for however high you’ve got and a free ticket!

There’s also an Arena rotation coming, so the event will be played during a new Season. Here are the expansions that will be available to pick cards from:

  • Curse of Naxxramas
  • Goblins vs. Gnomes
  • Blackrock Mountain
  • The Grand Tournament
  • League of Explorers
  • Whispers of the Old Gods
  • One Night in Karazhan
  • Mean Streets of Gadgetzan
  • Journey to Un’Goro
  • Knights of the Frozen Throne
  • Kobolds & Catacombs

Unique Tavern Brawls

Over the course of this event, we’ll have three new, unique PvE Tavern Brawls to play with.

Pack Bundles

Two new Card Pack bundles will be available for purchase in the store:

  • Hex Bundle – 20 Rise of Shadows Card Packs + a random Rise of Shadows Legendary for $19.99.
  • Flex Bundle – 20 Saviors of Uldum Card Packs + a random Saviors of Uldum Legendary for $19.99.

Anyone win less than 30 mins this Week 2? Is there an additional Holloween Reward? Saw something like that when I completed in 33 mins.

So I own Gold copies of most of these cards… and those are not useable in Standard..
I really can’t understand Blizzard… of course people who own Gold versions of those cards want to use them.
I’m sure it’s extremely easy to patch it into the game too.
For those who already own the cards in Gold brought back to Standard, just make a Gold temporary copy too same as with the non golden versions of people who already own those cards..

So if I already have these cards do I still get the versions that cant be dusted?

    • Nicodiangelo
      October 5, 2019 at 7:56 am

You get an uncraftable/non-dustable version for the duration of the event, even if you have the original card. So technically you can have up to 4 of each card and up to 2 legendaries.
The event versions will disappear after the event ends though, the originals will remain unchanged and unaffected by all of this

Kun and Emperor both coming back actually scares me. OTK decks are gonna be out of control.

will we also get 2 copies each card aside from legendaries?
I would love to play 2 flamewaker for combos, since mage have so many tiny spells now.

I’m nearly sure that we will get a full playset, so 2 copies in case of non-Legendary cards.

        thanks man.
also, does this event actually like Halloween-Festival?
kinda new to me. New Legendary Quest every week is nice tho.

any meta decks I could look into?

Yeah, this is a Halloween-styled event. We have something like this every year, but usually it’s much smaller :p

As for the meta decks, we’ll post a bunch of theorycrafts using new cards on Sunday!

So, extra copies can’t be disenchanted… does that mean that “normal ones” can ?

    • Stonekeep - Site Admin
      October 4, 2019 at 4:03 pm

Of course, if you own some of those cards, you will be able to disenchant them (just like you can right now). The new copies we’ll be getting for free should be separate from the ones you already own and they can’t be dusted. But those will be gone after 2 months, so if you dust your regular cards, then you won’t be able to play them in Wild (obviously).

Warlock gets Renounce Darkness, a meme card, and another card for the boring Zoo archetype. So many other classes get cards to revive old archetypes, but slow Warlocks will continue to be bad.

What about rogue, didnt get anything better than the same im-not-rogue rogue they’ve been pushing for the las five expansions.

        October 4, 2019 at 6:31 pm

Actually, Swashburglar is a pretty good card in most of Rogue decks, not only in Thief Rogue.

That said, Pharaoh Cat kind of filled that slot in Tempo Rogue, and I’m not sure which one is better. Pulling a card from your opponent’s class is probably a better effect, but Cat is a 1/2 instead of 1/1.

Shaku was also played in Tempo Rogue back in the day, so it might be experimented with a bit. However, Tempo Rogue was a bit slower back than than it is now.

But overall I agree that there’s a big difference between classes in terms of power level. I think that either each class should get 2 great cards on 1x meme and 1x great card. Right now some classes did get meme cards (Renounce Darkness, Lock and Load) while others didn’t.

I’d say Swashbuckler if you’re playing Quest or Fence, otherwise Cat. I give Cat the edge because out of the 13 reborn cards it can pull, 8-10 of them are pretty nice 1-4 mana cost additions to your opening hand and even the rest are usually decent. Compare that to the random “from another class” cards, where there are so many options that are either counter-productive, very poor value/synergy for your deck, or just too expensive to play until much later.

I’m not sure where you got the time limit for the event. On the official website it’s writent ” Until our next major update, these cards are stepping out of Wild and will be playable in Standard matches.”

It was updated. It said until the event concludes before.

We have an official confirmation that the event ends on October 30, but the Wild cards will stay until the next expansion 🙂

Oh my, this is definitely something. I love what they’re doing right now. I wonder how the meta will shape around these cards. But i ain’t gonna lie i waited to see the Kazakus one more time. That broke my heart but still, like i said, This is definitely someting. Thanks Hearthstone!

I think Secret Paladin and Cyclone/Quest Mage will become very interesting; both getting significant enough power increase from this to become meta-worthy. A few existing meta decks will just be augmented: Evolve probably fits into many existing Quest Shaman and Token decks, Kun will be auto-include for Quest Druid, and Bloodhoof for Aggro Warrior. I can see most if not all 5 neutrals being swapped into existing meta decks–i.e., Curator to thin out Highlander decks, N’Zoth for anything with more than 4 deathrattles, and Emperor + Rag + Syl are just that good. I’d also like to believe Sylvannas + N’Zoth is enough to finally make Deathrattle Rogue a thing again, but I don’t think it will be.

Other than that, I don’t predict things shaking up too much–e.g., I don’t foresee Control Priest or Quest Rogue becoming meta-worthy. But I hope I’m proven wrong in that regard–I always like seeing things changed up.

Oh, cool; so it’s the same legendaries that were leaked; which makes this announcement quite redundant.

22 days? I was hoping it’d last longer.

      October 4, 2019 at 10:46 am

I wouldn’t say that confirming a leak is redundant, though 🙂 Plus we didn’t even post the leak, I don’t want to post things that are not confirmed. And the event will be much more than just Wild cards (luckily – not that it wouldn’t be good, but the number of features is amazing this time).

That said, I really wonder how they got leaked so quickly and easily. Things like that are always known to some people before the official announcement but they rarely leak right away, lol.

I think whats a community is about, isnt it? Speculate, informing each other of what can possibly happen.
I agree when you say, that you dont want to spread any kind of leaks. But a big part of the community is looking all day for some kind of informations about upcoming stuff. I like to talk and discuss about things, which only maybe can happen :).

I understand your position, but we’re trying to work as closely with Blizzard as possible and they don’t like when people post leaks – obviously 🙂 That’s one of the big reasons why I’m trying to avoid any leaks for now.
