“Even Mecha’thun” Warlock  — guide by TinSonSay

Mulligan:

– The only card(s) you’re really looking for here are your Mountain Giants. My mulligan recommendation is actually to send everything back looking for them. The giants are such a strong early threat (usually coming down turn 3 or 4) that finding them should be your first and foremost priority.

Gameplay:

– This deck plays surprisingly similar to both of the popular meta decks I drew inspiration from when building it. That being said, to anyone who has enjoyed playing either of those style decks (“Even” Warlock or “Mecha’thun” Warlock), you will have to modify your play some, but this deck should be right up your alley.

– Mecha’thun: in case anyone is unfamiliar with this OTK combo, it goes like this. Both Galvanizers must first be cast at some point in the game to bring Mecha’thun’s cost down to 8. Then, once the deck is depleted, you cast Mecha’thun and Bloodbloom, then cast Cataclysm.

– Sunfury Protector: give taunt to your Ancient Watchers, Giants, and any 4/4 demons just lying around. Taunt makes these minions much more useful as defensive tools.

Pitfalls:

As always in my deck deck guides, I like to point out some of the pitfalls of the deck. By pitfalls I mean the ways for the deck to really fail at what it’s intended to do. These are things to watch out for…

– Most opponents are experienced at playing against both strategies this deck utilizes. For this reason, be careful about when you drop Galvanizer as it is a telltale sign that you plan to OTK them.

– Managing hand size can be an issue since this deck is designed to draw through the deck as fast as possible, especially against Druids and Rogues that like to fill up your hand and burn cards. This can be a huge issue, as the Mecha’thun deathrattle ability is drastically harder to activate if any combo pieces are burned.

How has the deck felt for you? I play even-lock because I don’t have bloodreaver gul, and it’s nice to have some way to beat control besides an aggressive start. Has it felt like mechathun adds much even with the death knight?
