Deck Import

The Un’Goro is pretty open and has room for multiple decks for most classes. Warrior is a top tier class with both Aggro and Quest variants, but recently Tempo Warrior has also been seeing play. IAmTheKingB has been kind enough to allow us to re-host their top 20 Legend Tempo Warrior guide! Be sure to check him out on Twitter and he’ll soon be streaming on Twitch!

Version 1.1 is with +2x armorsmith and – Direhorn Hatchling and Curator. version 1.2 is the linked deck.

Shoutout to Mozzy for giving me the inspiration to make Tempo Warrior.

Why play Tempo Warrior?

It’s a super strong and fun deck which has multiple win conditions and there are no impossible matchups. It’s strong vs almost the whole meta at the moment and I think a lot of people have missed how strong Tempo Warrior actually is.

Card Choices

  • 2x Blood To Ichor: Very good vs aggro decks like token druid and pirate warrior. Can also be used to buff Grommash and Bloodhoof Brave.
  • Pirate Packages: Super strong and allows you to curve out like a pirate warrior and win games on t5/t6. I only play 1x Bloodsail Cultist because it’s too hard to consistently activate already and it would happen way more often if you have 2x Bloodsail Cultist.
  • 2x Battle Rage: A big reason why you would want to play tempo warrior. Drawing 2 cards is good and more is just insane value.
  • 1x Cruel Taskmaster: Can be used to buff your minions or just kill a minion from your opponent.
  • 1x Execute: Can be very strong when you hit a high health minion but I feel like 2x execute is going to be too clunky.
  • 2x Fiery War Axe: Do I need to say anything?
  • 2x Slam: Draw is good in Tempo Warrior
  • 2x Frothing Berserker: One of the strongest cards in the deck and can easily win games on it own.
  • 2x Ravaging Ghoul: Super good vs aggro decks and can activate Battle Rage and buff Frothing Berserker.
  • 2x Bloodhoof Brave: Has a lot of synergy with this deck and is a taunt minion vs aggro decks.
  • 2x Kor'kron Elite: Just a strong card in general.
  • 2x Bittertide Hydra: A strong minion to play on curve and if it goes uncontested can win games. Also a beast so synergy with Curator.
  • 1x Direhorn Hatchling: A taunt minion vs aggro decks and it’s also a beast so synergy with Curator.
  • 1x Malkorok: A strong minion on curve and good outcomes from it has increased and no more Cursed Blade does so you can’t insta lose with it.
  • 1x The Curator: Another taunt minion and a refill that draws into your late game bombs.
  • 1x Grommash Hellscream: A big bomb with charge that can be used as a huge burst damage. Easy to activate it in this deck too.
  • 1x Deathwing: A dragon so value with Curator. A hard board reset that can win games on it own in the late game.

Noteable Exclusions and Replacements

This list is still very new and can probably be more refined. So naturally, there are a lot of different things you can try.

Armorsmith

Had it in my first version (version 1.1) but I felt like it didn’t do a lot and Feno told me it was shit in this deck. The reason I originally had it was that it’s helpful vs freeze mage and aggressive decks but I faced 1 freeze mage and I didn’t need it vs aggro decks so I changed it to Direhorn Hatchling and Curator.

Bloodsail Raider

A consideration instead of perhaps deckhand but not sure if it’s better since having a t1 play is important and charge is also good.

Malkorok

Replacements are The Black Knight and Volcanosaur.

The Black Knight is very strong vs taunt decks so if you face a lot of those this is a good choice.

Deathwing

Remove The Curator too and either go a more aggressive route with the deck (more pirates) or perhaps try and adding other late game cards like a deathrattle or two more and then N'Zoth, The Corruptor.

General Mulligan

Look for N'Zoth's First Mate, Southsea Deckhand, and Fiery War Axe. If you have either of those you can keep 3 drops. Blood To Ichor is good if you have the coin.

Generally, play as a control deck vs aggro decks and keep the board clear (but always look for when you can start putting a clock on him by going face) and vs slower decks either you will play like an aggro deck and kill on t5/t6 thanks to pirates and frothing or if that doesn’t happen you can easily outvalue a lot of decks.

Matchups

Warrior

You are happy if you see Warrior since you are favored in both matchups.

Pirate Warrior

You should be able to win board fairly easily around t5 ish vs Pirate Warrior so he has to give up the board and go face at that point. As long as you draw a taunt minion you should win almost every time.

Taunt Warrior

Pirate Warrior vs Taunt Warrior is about 50/50 and this deck has a lot of late game bombs which he will have a hard time dealing with. He might also Dirty Rat early since he thinks it’s Pirate Warrior which can be disastrous for him and lose him the game on the spot.

Paladin

I feel like it’s favored vs paladin but haven’t played this matchup enough to be 100% certain. Always try and keep his board empty since this deck relies on buffs on their minions.

Murloc Paladin

Play for board and try and keep his board empty to play around all kinds of buffs. As long as you can keep up with his early game you should be good. If possible don’t overextend too hard into equality if you can afford too.

Mage

Mage is the worst matchup for this deck because you don’t have any armor gain so you need to blow them out early. Remember to play around Meteor and place your minions accordingly since many decks run it and the ones that don’t can discover it from Primordial Glyph.

Discover Mage

Be very aggressive and hope that one of your threats goes unchecked (Frothing or Bittertide Hydra) is your best hope. The good thing is this deck usually doesn’t run Doomsayer, so you don’t need to worry about that.

Freeze Mage

Be very aggressive and hope that one of your threats goes unchecked (Frothing or Bittertide Hydra). If you are ahead and can afford it keep an answer to Frost Nova and  Doomsayer.

Rogue

You are happy to see rogue since you are favored in both archetypes.

Quest Rogue

Keep his board clear especially around t5 when he will have completed his quest. Usually frothing will just win vs Quest Rogue since they have no answer to it. Ravaging Ghoul is also very good since almost all his minions have 1 or 2 hp. Once he completes the quest you usually wants to just go face and ignore board but be careful of 10/15 damage from hand if he hasn’t played patches yet but as with every deck play to win, don’t play to avoid losing, so if you can’t play around it just hope he doesn’t have it. Deathwing can turn the game around completely if you survive to t10 so keep that in mind too.

Miracle Rogue

As long as you draw your early game this matchup shouldn’t give you much trouble. Remember they run Vilespine Slayer so maybe consider playing two lower drops than 1 big.

Druid

You are also happy if you face Druid since you are favored against token druid which is the most popular build and about even vs jade druid.

Token Druid

As vs Murloc Paladin try and keep his board clear since token druid also relies on buffs. Ravaging Ghoul is very strong vs Token Druid and a cute play that wins instantly is 2x Ravaging Ghoul vs his Living Mana. Generally, Just try and survive and you will outvalue him super hard.

Jade Druid

Try and blow them out in the early game but if that fails you can also win a slow game vs Jade Druid thanks to Deathwing. Play around Primordial Drake on turn 8 if possible.

Hunter

As vs the other aggressive decks keep his board clear since hunter also relies on buffs (Crackling Razormaw and Houndmaster). Hunter also fights very poorly from behind so if you get ahead you should win fairly easily.

Priest

You are happy if you see this matchup and you are favored in all the different Priest archetypes. Play for the board to play around Kabal Talonpriest and Power Word: Shield. Most Priest decks run at least one Dragonfire Potion so if possible play around that.

Silence Priest

If you know it’s silence priest a very good keep would be Execute which can win the game on its own. Frothing Berserker can do a lot of work in this matchup since they don’t run any removal (except for Potion of Madness) so the only answer is silence which they really don’t wanna use on their opponents minions.

Dragon Priest

They run 2x Dragonfire Potions so if you can curve into either Bloodhoof Brave or Bittertide Hydra on their t6 it’s very good. They also run 2x Primordial Drake so watch out for that on t8.

This deck does not work at all, even the supposed easy matchups ended up being lost.
I really don’t see how you’re supposed to win with this…

If any, what do you think are pretty bad matchups besides freeze mage? Also, does golakka crawler fit in the deck for turn 2 besides war axe?
