Mulligans

General Mulligans

With this deck, you always want to have good early game tempo. Going first is very good, but even going second and coining River Crocolisk or River Crocolisk into turn 2 Crackling Razormaw is a lot of tempo in certain matchups. Houndmaster comes in especially handy with these good two-drop beasts, as well as with Dire Wolf Alpha, and later it can buff high-Health Zombeasts.

Headhunter's Hatchet is a choice mulligan in case you are going second and plan to coin a two-drop. The extra Durability on the weapon can come in handy against other Midrange decks, or against certain Combo decks.

And lastly, Flanking Strike again provides that strong tempo turn against minion-based decks or OTK Death Knight Paladin.

Aggro Mulligans

Versus Aggro, it is key to contest highly for the board. This is achieved by playing solidly statted two-Cost minions, such as Plated Beetle, which also gives Armor -- useful for maintaining a good life total, which ends up being this deck's win condition against super aggressive decks (e.g., Odd Paladin and Odd Rogue). With Deathstalker Rexxar, this is very achievable; crafting many Zombeasts with Lifesteal, Rush, and Poisonous allow for a lot of flexibility and high tempo.

Flanking Strike is very good at dealing with annoying boards. If you do not have a board because of a slow opening hand, this is a way to come back with tempo.

Houndmaster is useful for its combination of giving Taunt and extra Health, which buys you time to draw some more defensive cards and eventually regain board control.

Control Mulligans

The only important card in this deck to play any sort of viable control game is Deathstalker Rexxar. Flexibility and ability to make big threats are key. Dire Frenzy is also useful in prolonging the late game until you can develop a large enough board.

This is a Midrange Hunter deck with only even cost cards to expedite face damage, until playing Deathstalker Rexxar , which is the deck’s primary way of reaching the late game and sometimes even winning in fatigue with good RNG.

Against slower decks, two-drops are the best way to put on early pressure, which is the reason for including River Crocolisk , whose Beast tag does actually provide value given the archetype and cards such as Crackling Razormaw and Houndmaster .

Skulking Geist is a choice card that can be subbed in and out depending on the current meta, such as if Deathrattle Hunter is dominating.

Bonemare functions similarly to Leeroy Jenkins in Odd Paladin decks: It is just a way to finish off pesky Control Priests or Odd Warriors, who can have consistent board clears. The Lich King is also just another late-game threat, in case hasn’t been played yet, or you haven’t crafted any dangerous Zombeasts.
