Mulligans

General Mulligans

1. Create a board foothold...ideally with buffed and taunting cards.

2. Start copying your heavy hitters with Shadowcaster and Unearthed Raptor.

3. Spam N'Zoth, Sylvanas, Shadowcaster, Cairne, Anub'arak, Hogger or Twilight Summoner. If you are unlucky with taunt cards, copy those against aggro players to help with keeping your foothold at the start.

Basically, make them trade their minions and once you run out of cards a bit, drop N'Zoth :)

If you have board control once the copying process starts, you have basically won. If you have N'Zoth in your hand, keep him for after your opponent clears the board with his "power move" (C'Thun?). Once he's happy to have cleared the board, bring it back...and again...and again...and again. Really great way to go up against Reno opponents too.

Aggro Mulligans

Once you make it to turn 6 (or 5 if you have an unused coin), you can drop Cairne or Sylvanas to solidify your foothold. Especially Cairne is great because he summons a minion even if the opponent takes him out. The 4/5 stats of that minion make it quite likely it'll survive that turn.

Anub'arak and the ability to copy cards is sick if you make it to turn 9. Obviously, the closer you are to turn 10 with N'Zoth in your hand, the more happy you should be to aggressively trade Deathrattle cards...you will get them all back ;)

Midrange Mulligans

Most minions feature more health than damage...which is on purpose. The goal is simply to survive until the end-game stage where I'm able to start copy-spamming Anub'arak, Cairne, Sylvanas and N'Zoth.

Combo Mulligans

There isn't really a combo card in this deck other than Eviscerate. Having said that, if you can get Brann to stick, every Battlecry card (Unearthed Raptor, Shadowcaster) is essentially a combo with twice the benefits.

I present you the “copy/paste deathrattle raptor deck” 🙂

Cards used to “copy” stronger battle cards:

Gang Up: You get 3 copies into your deck per card, so 6 copies of any card right into my deck. Want 3 extra copies of N’Zoth? No problem! Your opponent summons a card you’d like to have too? No problem, take 3 copies for your deck.

Shadowcaster: 1 mana copies are just too juicy 😀

Unearthed Raptor: You get a 3/4 hitter that copies a stronger card’s deathrattle effect…perfect!

Honorable mention for Shadowstep which also allows you to re-summon a card. In fact, a point could be made to add another Shadowstep somehow.

Cards to be copied (starting with the least preferred option):

 Twilight Summoner

Cairne Bloodhoof Hogger Anub'arak N'Zoth, The Corruptor

Essentially, you can get 6 copies into your deck from Gang Up, two 1 mana deathrattle copies from Shadowcaster, two 3/4 Unearthed Raptor with copied deathrattle effects and one Shadowstep. That allows for a quite a lot of creativity.

If you have board lead by around round 5-6, you’re golden. Which brings me to the challenges of the deck:

1) The whole copy/paste process takes a bit of practice. Sometimes you opt to wait a tiny bit longer with summoning a minion just so you are able to copy it the next round (or even in the same round).

2) Face hitters who are supper aggro from the start are a bit of an issue. Unless you get super unlucky with the hand draw, it’s often not too bad though. Don’t be afraid to play some of the copy cards without taking advantage of the effect if you don’t have anything else…you have enough of them in your deck to waste a few if it allows you to get to the late game.

Try to play  in a way that allows you to copy it the next round, it’s your “I win” button. If you have two 1 mana N'Zoth, The Corruptor, it’s pretty much game over.

Beneath the Grounds is such an evil card! You drop 3 ambushes into someone’s deck and if he draws one, you get a 4/4. Drop both cards and that’s 6 potential 4/4 spawns for you. It’s essentially 3 mana for 12 potential damage and 12 HP.

First self-constructed deck that’s at least for now seems to be winning on my low ranks. Would be super happy for some feedback & advice.

Got super lucky and scored Anub’arak and Cairne…both now added because of the amazing synergies with card copying and of course N’Zoth.

Only tested this a little bit, but it took out a Reno Rogue and Reno Paladin after spamming N’Zoth twice and three times respectively.

Face hitters are still the most annoying opponent, especially if you get unlucky in terms of being dealt taunt cards.

    EDIT 2:

You can of course simply make copies of Twilight Summoner if that fits you more 😉

    EDIT:

I replaced Eviscerate x2 with a Shadowstep and another Shadowcaster.

The reason is that this allows for some pretty sick copying of N’Zoth in conjunction with Brann who doubles Battlecries. Basically, with Shadowcaster x2, Shadowstep and Unearthed Raptor x2 all boosted by Brann, I can spam N’Zoth 7 times.

5 out of 30 cards are purely meant to “copy” that Deathrattle effect.

Disclaimer: I am new to Hearthstone but always liked “fitting” games like EVE Online or Kerbal Space Progam…but yeah, not an expert and super happy for some feedback.
