Mulligans

Aggro Mulligans

Against Aggro/Midrange: You want Cathedral Gargoyle in hand to disrupt tempo. Call to Adventure helps you draw that Gargoyle. To make Cathedral Gargoyle active you need a dragon in your hand, the deck is only 1/3 dragons so holding onto A dragon is probably a good idea. Nozari is probably the best choice, to curve the healing, and Dragonmaw Scorcher is a decent second choice. Zilliax and Consecration are great survival tools against the midrange decks.

Control Mulligans

Against Control: You want to be prepared to clear big threat boards as soon as possible and hopefully curve out Nozari into Thekal+Zandalari

This is a “you win by not losing” deck. Feel free to allowing your health to get lower than should be comfortable. Hopefully around turn 10 you can throw down Nozari, followed by High Priest Thekal. Save your dragons for the end game, and your dragon speakers for maximum greed, as the game progresses you will be playing more of your non-dragon cards and your hand will become more dragon oriented!

As the season releases and the meta dictates the quality of this deck, a few card replacements I see likely are:

Against an aggro/midrange dominanted meta: Remove Kangor/Thekal/Tirion/Ysera

1) If aggro token decks thrive in either their Druid or Warlock forms: Wild Pyromancer and Lightforged Blessing will probably do the trick. In a token dominated meta it is likely that Equality/Shrink Rays will be less vital.  **Note: If control token decks thrive you probably want to add Batterhead into the deck, it’s synergy with Lightforged Blessing will be danuts.

2) If taller smaller boards emerge like Secret Paladin or Silence Priest: Paragon of Light and Arena Fanatic will probably be a strong line of defense. Paragon of Light and be buffed either by being drawn out by Call to Adventure or with an Arena fanatic in the deck.

Against a control/combo dominated meta: Remove Ziliax/Call to Adventure/Flash of Light

1) If slow control decks like shuffle rogue or bomb warrior thrive: Barista Lychen could give you a lot of late game value. This version of the deck may want to run Glowstone Technician to fill the missing 6 drop slot and unlock the insane Barista value. Against these decks one copy of Lay on Hands and Shirvallah, the Tiger will give better value than Flash of Light.

2) If combo decks like Resurrection-Mind Blast Priest, Khadgar-Jan’alai Mage, or Japetto-Kalecgos-Malygos-Antonidas) dominate: keep Ziliax and put Hecklebots, Spellbreaker and maybe Tinkmaster Overspark into the deck.
