This card was infamous ever since the first initial reveal and immediately people tried to come up with the OTK potential of a semi-random combo maker. But we’ve all seen the crazy long animation times of the card with Life Drinker and Grumble.
It’s super boring to play and it is super boring to watch, I hate it!
However Shudderwock has another great use, he could be one of the greatest value generators that shaman has EVER had.
Shaman always had amazing anti-aggro tools but the problem was you would always lose to another semi-control or midrange deck just because you were gassed out.
Consider the combo:
Hagatha the WitchWhich gives you tons of free spells just for playing minions along with cards such as:
Witch's Apprentice Stonehill Defender Zola the GorgonElise the Trailblazer
So you can easily go from a hand of 2-3 cards to one with 8-9 cards just in one Shudderwock Play, which means even more gas with Hagatha. Plus an additional pack in your deck so it’s even more difficult to fatigue you.
Now the big name of the game, the Dragos. First of all the deck started out as Elemental based with Kalimos and Grumble but I quickly realized that it was nice getting random elementals from Shudderwock through Servant of Kalimos, but you are effectively at a whim of your mana curve and it relied WAY too heavily on firefly to play an elemental the turn before.
Long story short, it was incredibly inconsistent and since you couldn’t run Fire Elemental or his ilk without the risk of Shudder killing your board it was time to switch it up.
