I’m not so sure about Arena. Last expansion they didn’t change the format at all, but kept it as Standard, just added a new expansion without a reset. If they don’t change the format again, just add Darkmoon to the pool, you won’t get a ticket back, you will just have an active run.

And if they will change it after all, it would probably happen at launch. They should announce sets available in Arena in tomorrow’s patch, though!

I stand by lots of those ratings, by the way. Yes, I was clearly wrong about cards like Pen Flinger or Broomstick, but many of those cards I rated highly (like Fireheart, Omu, Wildclaw, Ace Hunter Kreen or even Reaper’s Scythe) are great, they just didn’t have time to shine yet.

I admit that I overrated some of the cards too, I would change my ratings for stuff like Felosophy, Glide, Warlock Soul Fragment package (for my defense, DH’s turned out to be great and Warlock still has some chance). Or Overwhelm, I don’t know why I gave it 8/10 in retrospective.

And keep in mind that many of those cards were revealed before their respective synergy cards got shown. For example, when Steeldancer was revealed, neither Self-Sharpening Sword, nor Krastinov were revealed. Ideally I would wait with the reviews until after the entire set is revealed, but no way I would have enough time to cover everything then.

Given all the circumstances, I’m happy with my Scholo reviews! I identified most of the synergies, even on most of the cards that I rated low, but turned out to be good (e.g. Pen Flinger – I talked about synergy with Libram Paladin, but I clearly underestimated the power of repeated pings).

I would love to get back to my reviews like 2 months into the expansion to see how correct / wrong I was about them, but I never have enough time to do it :/

Extra note: As someone reminded me on Twitter, Shaman should get more weapon / attacking with Hero support this expansion. Blizzard confirmed earlier that the class will get “Enhancement” archetype (which was a melee spec in WoW).

By the way, Ice Barrier won’t work with it, you still take damage even if it’s just Armor and not your Health. Taking damage =/= losing health 🙂

And it was considered a quite strong Hero Power at the beginning! (At least when Nefarian wasn’t around…) But the game has changed A LOT since then.

If Hero portraits were ever sold for gold, I imagine that they would cost 1500 or 2000, but knowing Blizzard it would probably be 2000 :p

I always put something along the lines of “This is a translated version of the card, final English version might have a different name / effect” in the card’s description. I also explicitly state that it’s a translated version when sharing it on social media. But the problem is that not everyone looks at that – a lot of people just look at the card and that’s it.

Same thing for the * – only people who actually know what that means would understand that it’s translated, someone visiting the site from outside would have no idea what that means. Plus a lot of people would still miss it, trust me :p

It’s crazy how many of the best cards in the history of Hearthstone were undervalued by players! But that’s also why I love reveal seasons – if everyone agreed on the power level of the card and community would be correct about everything, it would be boring. It’s really fun to argue with someone that X card is good or bad while the other person has a completely opposite opinion (it’s even more fun if you turn out to be correct, hahah).

Oh yeah, by that sentence I meant without losing THE Pen Flinger card, not without losing any card 🙂 Thanks for the correction.

Whizbang was banned from tournaments, but not because of the power level (obviously). No card was banned just because it was too random as far as I’m aware. But they DO have the ability to do it, of course.

I think that banning cards like Yogg would be better for the players, but worse for the viewers, so it’s a tough call. After all, those crazy RNG moments are always fun to watch (especially when they don’t happen to you, hahah).

You won’t gain any EXP retroactively – it will only count the games you play after 12th.

I mean, it’s obviously a tier list for the current, early access meta (like the title states). We aren’t implying that this is the final power level of each Hero – it’s impossible to know. Even after the launch, we might get balance updates that change it. We’ll be updating the Tier List (and probably find some better template at one point) when new stuff launches in Duels and changes the balance. We’ll also have a guide with the most interesting / strongest HP & treasure combos when the mode gets officially released.

And by the way, they won’t get 2 HPs and 5 Treasures when the mode launches. At launch, each Hero will have 2 HPs and 3 Treasures. More will be added in a mid-expansion patch.

Be sure to teach him how to play Hearthstone once he grows up a little!

Pre-orders are always on sale until launch – even getting them a few hours before the expansion’s release is safe (although just to be sure I would buy them a day before at the latest).
