Spirits of the Shark: How Memorable Moments Trick Players

Really good article. I catch myself thinking this way sometimes. The key thing is most people are really good at seeing reward (the crazy high roll moments), but terrible at perceiving risk (the rest of the time the card is completely dead).

This kind of thinking is something I struggle with on ladder. The key thing is to take a step back and realize that Casual mode is there for a reason. It allows you to play with all the crazy high roll synergies without consequence. It is why I my time there when I just want to relax without any stress from being on ladder.

Lackey Quest Warlock - #90 Legend (Gallon) - Galakrond's

This deck is a ton of fun. I replaced Glinda (don’t have her) with a second EVIL Genius and the deck is working great for me.

I already really enjoyed quest lock and plot twist (just a ton of fun), but to combine it with this crazy lackey package just feels amazing.

Highlander Hunter - #11 Legend (TheLiquidOx) - Galakrond's Awakening

The deck works well, but I have been thinking the same thing. Been considering taking those two out and replacing with Deadly Shot and Shield breaker (to keep curve close to the same) or some other silence minion. I keep playing against embiggen druids and those will help a lot against their giant taunts.

Support of one of my favorite quests to play. I really hope reborn becomes of of those abilities that remains in the meta, like discover. It is a great mechanic.

Galakrond's Awakening Adventure Guide - 35 New Cards, Four Chapters, Launches January 21!

I absolutely love the trailer for the adventure. Can’t stop laughing at it. So far I like the cards revealed. Interesting.

Also *Poof!* 🙂

16.0.5 Balance Update - Nerfs to Corrupt Elementalist, Sludge Slurper, Faceless Corruptor, Mogu Fleshshaper + Battlegrounds Changes - December 19

I wish the nerfs were live this morning. The Faceless corrupter nerf could have saved me. I couldn’t play my Faceless Corrupter since the opponent could easily trade in the Necrium Apothecary (with Anubisath) and won. If my Faceless had only 4 attack I would have been able to inflict more damage to the opponent before their minions being buffed.

However overall I am fine with the nerfs. I think people are over reacting. Lets see what the meta does over the next couple of weeks and then if still unhappy, complain to your hearts content. Complaining about the change in the standard meta now or how money is being taken from you (there are few comments like this), etc is not productive without seeing the consequences of their action first.

The only thing from this patch which somewhat concerns me is the removal of amalgam without adding some other minions to help make up for the loss. The upside is that this might force more menagerie style decks instead of one tribe. This way people can work to get all the buffs they need. I think this will overall be a more interesting way to play the game.

Patch 16.0 is live! Descent of Dragons Cards in Client, SN1P-SN4P Warlock nerf, Tyrande & Sylvanas Hero Portraits, Wild Cards Rotating Out, Bug Fixes

True. I am going off of past history of adventures which included cards always being an extra outlay of money. Really hope you are right, but I tend to be cynical when it comes to most things.

Patch 16.0 is live! Descent of Dragons Cards in Client, SN1P-SN4P Warlock nerf, Tyrande & Sylvanas Hero Portraits, Wild Cards Rotating Out, Bug Fixes

I really dislike the cards being tied to the adventure. I don’t think it is a fair way to gate off content. Cards should come from packs, not from a completely separate system. The gold cost for adventures is very high and could be problematic to free to play players. This feature annoyed me enough that I quit the game after Goblins vs Gnomes since I couldn’t see myself spending actual money on the game at the time.

The removal of cards from the adventures is what helped bring me back into the game. While I am now playing the game regularly and have bought the last few adventures (in a completely different financial place then I was previously) I think this is a bad way to add content. I know it will drive a number of friends who are free to play players out of the game again. I wish they would reconsider.

The friend I play HS the most with has very limited time (we find some time at work to play during lunch). He will never be able to complete the adventure to get the cards. This once again gates him out of the game. I would not be shocked if this drives him to quite HS as well.

It was terrible that you couldn’t even craft the cards for the adventure until it rotated out of standard. If you can at least allow people to craft the cards from the start that might prevent some of these issues.

Yep. Saw the name and was wondering if anyone else got the reference.

Wyrmrest Purifier

I can see a great wild meme with this.

Play warlock with this card and Renounce Darkness. Will it win. Definitely no.

Will it be funny, most definitely.

Still would be curious to try this with Mage. They have lots of good spells. Most likely would not work, but would be fun to try with the quest anyway.

Either way it is a fun card. Would rate it 5 for fun, but 1 or 2 for non-meme use.

Bandersmosh

I think when this card is released it will be okay when it first releases, but will become significantly better once year of the raven rotates out. Team 5 seems to have taken a different tact on legendary minions trying to make them all actually good in Year of the Dragon. Some might be better than others, but there are no terrible legendary minions.

This card at this time I think is a 2 maybe 3 for highroll potential, but assuming legendary minions continue to be made like they are this year, it will be much better after rotation.

Necrium Apothecary

I loved deathrattle rogue before the last rotation. Big deathrattle rogue was one of my favorite decks of year of the raven. The past two sets have not included a lot of support for the archetype (outside of Anka). Hope we get more support in this set before Necrium Blade/Vial rotate.

This card would be great in any deathrattle rogue. Would be fun to try out with Blatant Decoy and larger minions. Lots of craziness could occur.

Battlegrounds Q&A with Mike Donais - MMR Changes, New Heroes on Tuesday, Buffs to Demons & Murlocs, Nerf to Junkbot, Next Big Patch December 5, New Tribe Next Year

I would like to see a non-tribe synergy as well. Things like bolvar, tortollan shellraiser, festerroot hulk, etc are neat cards, but need something more to support them. Bolvar is already close, but Nefarion just removes this entire strategy.

Still overall, I love this mode. I have played standard to completed quests and with friends, but otherwise I am living in the battlegrounds. I hope they continue to support this mode.

Really good card, but excellent reveal trailer.

I love the card reveal trailers this guy does.

Wretched Reclaimer

The issue is that you are comparing this from one meta to another. Reborn does make this a lot better. Also the body attached to it makes for a much better play, especially with reborn or deathrattle. The body is not great, but the stats are okay for a three drop with an effect. It is a much more effective tempo play.

Not going to say the card is going to define a meta, but I think it has much higher potential now especially in the priest class vs the shaman class. Reincarnate was in the wrong class, since Shaman could not properly use deathrattles.

Wretched Reclaimer

In addition to good synergy with reborn, this card would be fun to try with Spirit of the Dead or any decent deathrattle. This card has potential.

The issue is will the Saviors of Uldum meta allow for a deck like this to prosper. That I don’t know, but I am sure this card will see experimentation and even constructed play somewhere down the line.

Overflow

How would this work with Lifeweaver? Would it give you a random druid spell for each character healed (kind of like how you draw a card for each minion healed with Northshire Cleric) or would it only be a single spell since it it one instance of healing?

The wording is very similar on the two cards so I can see it working either way.

If it gives a spell per character healed that value is amazing.
