Galakrond’s Awakening will be the final part of a year-long storyline, which started back in April with Rise of Shadows. Take to the skies as the League of E.V.I.L. and the League of Explorers in a battle between blimps, magic carpets, rocket- powered mechs (and so many dragons) in Hearthstone’s newest Solo Adventure.

Chapters

Galakrond’s Awakening will have 4 chapters in total, but with a twist. Each one of them will be playable from both sides. Yes, you will play as both League of E.V.I.L. and League of Explorers! Each side will have a 12 total unique encounters / boss fights, so 24 of them in total.

  • Chapter 1 – 11 new cards – January 21
  • Chapter 2 – 8 new cards – January 28
  • Chapter 3 – 8 new cards – February 4
  • Chapter 4 – 8 new cards – February 11

First part of Chapter 1 (rewarding 4 new cards), the one from E.V.I.L. side, will be available for free to everyone. Second part of the chapter, as well as every other chapter, will be purchasable for $6.99 or 700 gold. You can also buy the entire adventure at once for $19.99.

Pre-purchasing Galakrond’s Awakening also gives you a Golden Classic Pack, which you can open right away! Learn more about pre-purchase and buy the adventure here.

Story & Heroic Modes

The adventure will, like always, come with two modes – Normal and Heroic. This time, however, it will work a bit differently.

Normal mode will be called “Story” and it will be easier + come with pre-built decks. It’s perfect for the players who just want to experience the story and – of course – earn the new cards.

In Heroic, however, players will face more difficult encounters AND won’t have pre-built decks, so they will have to figure out the best ways to beat a given encounters using decks created from their own collection.

Galakrond’s Awakening Card Reveals

Yes, the 35 new cards will be playable in Constructed (Standard/Wild)! They aren’t adventure exclusive!

Card Backs

There are two card backs to earn for beating the adventure in Heroic mode – one for the E.V.I.L. side and one for the Explorers’ side.

I mean the other hero flip cards won’t come until next expansion. If they come at all. I can see then holding out on the hero cards until then. That way they have some more big stuff to come out and look forward to with the next one

When does it launches on phones? It’s not up on iPhone or Android yet and I can’t play :/

I can’t read Blizzard at all. the composition of the new cards is totally random.
usually it was a fair distribution of cards, but now?
some class got 2/3 new cards, and the rarity is random too.

    that is pretty weird.

      January 21, 2020 at 10:48 am

my mistake, every class got 3 new cards, but the rarity is still random.
some got hero cards, some got weapons, some got epic, etc.

Yeah, unexpected, I thought there would be more legendary heroes, to compensate the classes that didn’t get a dragon.

Card amount is consistent, the rarity is not consistent, because it doesn’t really matter in case of Adventures 🙂 You’re guaranteed to get all of those cards anyway, so adding Epics instead of Commons to one class doesn’t matter that they will be more difficult to get in packs or craft.

          January 21, 2020 at 11:19 am

Yes, but think of the poor heroes that got the lesser cards. They will then always be laughed at in wild for having less value. xD

          January 21, 2020 at 12:28 pm

But it does affect the total dust off it, when it’s rotating out, or when some decided that the card won’t see play at all.
          (even only a little).

And what’s more, knowing Blizzard, these cards can be nerfed/buffed later on, making its dust value even higher.

outside that, I wonder if these cards can be crafted in golden. It’s list in uncraftable cards in collections.

Hope the druid hero will be 1 mana hero. No battlecry. Hero power gain a mana crystal (0 mana).

    Or
10 mana gain 20 armor, draw 10 cards, make your hand size 20, fill your deck with 30 ragnaros. Burn your oppenents hand and give them a coin…

there are other leaked cards from some site with spanish text I think.
    https://beerbrick.com/2020/01/17/news-2020011701/
    add that article already.

I saw this yesterday and I didn’t really believed it
(because I don’t think shaman will get a legendary weapon similar like medivh).

But once I saw it here, then I guess it’s true.

    hmm, Twinspells.

When Explorer gets Twinspell cards, then EVIl classes surely gets its own.
Probably more “Scheme” cards? since Twinspell and Scheme rolled out in Shadows.
    balances balances.

      January 15, 2020 at 5:23 pm

Yeah, they’ve said that they will be using all the mechanics introduced in Year of the Dragon, so I would suspect a Scheme card making a comeback too!

      • H0lysatan
        January 15, 2020 at 7:04 pm

And here I was hoping to get more Invoke cards. (or somehow, Sidequest for EVIL classes).
It’s just a matter of time when they shown all the cards.

        Let’s see. I’m predicting
4 Neutral Cards (1 each rarity),
        4 New Hero,
and 3×9 Class Cards (Common, Rare, Epic)

        So Far So Good.

        • LegendaryBot
          January 17, 2020 at 7:05 am

I’m expecting like 8 neutral cards, and explorer classes getting common, rare, and hero cards. Otherwise, your right ;).

2100. First area should be free.

      • HuntingFor90
        January 15, 2020 at 5:09 pm

You only get the good side of Chapter 1 for free, you have to pay for the evil side…. 🙁

        • LegendaryBot
          January 17, 2020 at 7:07 am

It’s still 2100, but the first evil side has 3 extra cards, 7 in total. The three other wings have 8 cards.

          • Irish Seadog
            January 18, 2020 at 6:21 am

No, you pay 700 for the good side of the first chapter + 700 each for the other 3 chapters = 2800 total

Do we have any idea when we’ll be getting more details/reveals?

    • Stonekeep - Site Admin
      January 10, 2020 at 5:02 pm

We don’t have reveal schedule for this expansion, but given that the first part launches January 21, we’ll probably have cards revealed over the next week.

Hi Stonekeep. Do you have any news whether the new adventure will pan out in the same format as Nax, BRM, LoE, and ONiK? Or will it be following the more recent format?

    • Stonekeep - Site Admin
      January 10, 2020 at 5:50 am

Format will be similar to the oldschool adventures, it won’t be another Dungeon Run clone 🙂

  16. Nanikaja
    January 9, 2020 at 2:14 pm

Hold on a sec, do you need to buy each chapter from each side with 700 gold or you buy both good and evil sides’ chapter with 700. If it’s 700 for the good and another 700 for bad then that’s a lot.

    • Stonekeep - Site Admin
      January 9, 2020 at 2:29 pm

Both for 700 gold. Only the first chapter is different – you get EVIL side for free (with 4 cards) and you buy the Explorers side for 700g (but it gives 3 bonus cards = 7 in total).

  17. Vincent
    January 9, 2020 at 12:27 pm

Just to make sure… if I buy this adventure, the cards will be playable in standard for 2 years?

    • Nickus89
      January 9, 2020 at 1:55 pm

1 year and 3 months, until April 2021 when this year’s expansions are rotating out.

  18. Skoopy
    January 9, 2020 at 12:26 pm

Looks like Mage, Hunter, Druid and Pally will get a new Hero?
How long do they stay in standard?

    • Stonekeep - Site Admin
      January 9, 2020 at 12:27 pm

They should rotate out with all Year of the Dragon cards – so with the first expansion of 2021 (most likely April 2021).

      January 9, 2020 at 11:18 am

      let’s see here.
It’s impossible for every class to get 4 new cards. (the total is 36)

So I’m assuming every class get 3 cards (1 Common, 1 Rare, and 1 Epic).
Adding 4 new hero cards for Explorers, and the total is 31 new cards.
the last 4 cards will be Neutral. (1 for each rarity).

      that’s it. I’m off.

      • DnnyPhntm
        January 10, 2020 at 1:52 am

        Interesting point!
But i guess Hunter wont get a Hero because of Zuljin, but thats just my expectation…

        • LucLS
          January 10, 2020 at 5:58 am

I would argue otherwise; Zuljin is basically a spell.

          January 10, 2020 at 8:51 am

          Blizzard love balances.
In this case, if one Explorer class get a new Hero, then all Explorer Classes gets one too.

  23. D3str0
    January 9, 2020 at 10:47 am

I feel like the book of explorers card back should have its own design instead of a recolored book of evil card back. Or vice versa.

    Lazy design.

I bet Reno power will be related to his battlecry effect. The official description is: “ Play the Amazing Reno and all minions will disappear. Where did they go? Who knows? Reno definitely doesn’t. Truly amazing work, Reno”…. Maybe something like (2) Discover a disappeared minion and play it for free….

    • Stonekeep - Site Admin
      January 9, 2020 at 11:08 am

Oh man, that would be the next level of broken! 😀 Imagine disappearing a big board from Resurrect Priest and then playing his minions one by one.

I can’t wait to see what the Hero Power is, and it would be cool if it had something to do with the Battlecry!
