Hearthstone Patch 27.4.2 Teaser – Standard, Wild, Twist and Battlegrounds Balance Changes

Update: We now have full 27.4.2 Patch Notes! Check them out here.

Blizzard just posted images teasing the upcoming balance update. We already knew that it’s coming and roughly what it’s going to target, we just weren’t sure about the exact timing and cards. And we didn’t know that it’s going to be THIS HUGE.

For now, we only know which cards will get affected, not how will they change! The patch itself is coming “soon”. The usual schedule is a teaser on Tuesday (this one was delayed by one day) and Patch on Thursday, so if they stick to it, it should be out on Thursday (September 28) at 10 AM PT (19:00 CET). Patch notes usually drop an hour before the actual update, so we should know the exact changes on Thursday, shortly before the patch.

Until then, all we have is a list of affected cards:

Standard

Buffs

Nerfs

Ban (?)

Wild

Patch 27.4.2 Wild Balance Preview Encircled in red are: Firemancer Flurgl, Spirit of the Frog, Scargil, Kabal Lackey, Shadow Essence, and Gadgetzan Auctioneer. At the bottom, with a red minus sign is: Mechwarper and Tony, King of Piracy.

Nerfs

Ban (?)

Twist

Patch 27.4.2 Twist Balance Preview Encircled in green and under an "Up" arrow are: Cenarion Hold, Dragonfire Potion, Bronze Dragonknight, Tirion Fordring, Lord Jaraxxus, Elemental Destruction, and Al’Akir, the Winds of Time. Encircled in red and under an "Down" arrow are: Chamber of Viscidus, Tiny Knight of Evil, Dark Bargain, Blast from the Past, Ivory Rook, Jade Telegram, The Scarab Lord, Blade of C'Thun, and Trial of the Jormungars.

Remember that all of the Twist cards are also in Wild, so nerfing e.g. Warlock in Twist also affects the deck in Wild (and I’m glad that it does, because Wild was a horrible experience since Caverns of Time).

Buffs

Nerfs

Battlegrounds

Battlegrounds is quite light on changes, only a couple of nerfs/buffs and a few cards getting in or out of the pool.

Patch 27.4.2 Battlegrounds Balance Preview Encircled in green and under an "Up" arrow is: Imposing Percussionist. Encircled in red and under an "Down" arrow is: Shady Aristocrat (Buddy to Sire Denathrius). At the bottom, with an up and down arrow are: Piloted Whirl-O-Tron (Buddy to Sneed), Street Magician (Buddy to The Great Akazamzarak). With a plus sign: Felemental. With a minus sign: Keyboard Igniter and Spark-ling.

Yeah. It’s quite literally the most powerful deck in the format, according to the VS report. You can’t nerf the warlock and warrior and just leave rogue alone, it would dominate even more than it already does.
