Mulligans
General Mulligans
Generally you're looking for ramp, wild growth, greedy sprite and nourish, to help you get to your devilsaurs and play your combo.
Against aggro decks you'll want to take early removal; wrath, spellstone and swipe.
For burn decks you'll want to dig for branching paths for 12 armor is huge.
Naturalize against warlock as a turn 3/4 giant turns naturalize into "Destroy a minion and mill 1/2 cards" which is pretty ok for 1 mana. Very strong versus spiteful decks as well, although we may not see as many of them now.
Mid-range/combo druid, game plan is:
-Ramp your mana/fight for early board
-Play devilsaur
-Have devilsaur die
-Play witching hour + faceless (or cube + naturalize) for 14 (or 21) damage
I reached my first legend rank this month with this deck, post-nerf! Hardest matchups are taunt druid, tempo mage and murloc pally, normally dying before you can stabilise the board. Matchups with mage/shaman/warrior can end up as RNG with extra beasts added to your witching hour pool, generally you want to race your combo before they draw the necessary cards to interfere with it – polymorph/hex/cornered sentry.
Notable cards that can be subbed in:
-Mossy horror – great removal against voidwalkers/token boards/saronites (+ comes with a “free” body)
-Twig – with weapon removal likely to be less prevalent post-nerf, twig can set up some absurd OTK damage turns, or even just a huge mana ramp/dump hand + UI turns. Including Alexstrasza allows you to Alex -> break twig -> witching hour + faceless ->15 health – 15 damage.
-Spiritsinger Umbra – Can make cube turns much more potent, but not playable in the same turn as full combo without Twig/Innervate. Can help vanguard get instant value but SUCKS to pull from oaken summons.
-Ixlid – Same vein as Umbra, can’t be pulled by oaken summons (yay) but still hard to fit into the combo turn with mana.
-Starfall – Another activator for arcane tyrant, great versus call to arms and with swipe can just about beat a hunter spellstone or pally level up turn.
-Mark of the wild – Can be used for witching hour + MOTW + faceless -> 9/9s with taunt and charge. Also great for turning arcane tyrants into big walls (nourish (for mana) + tyrant + MOTW)
