Mulligans
General Mulligans
In most matchups, just hard mulligan for your early game ramp or Waveshaping, since you have nothing better to play on turn 1. Don't play Breath of Dreams until you're holding a dragon, but do keep Breath of Dreams and Splish-Splash Whelp even if you don't have any other dragons in your starting hand. I always keep Frost Lotus because it turns out drawing 2 cards and gaining 10 armor is almost always really good.
Against Rogue or Libram Paladin, dig for Razorscale; it will often win you the game. Do not keep Guff or Nourish without other ramp. Guff is nice to have but not necessary to win; you rarely want him in your mulligan.
I can’t believe I’m just now realizing that Kil’jaeden is a brilliant way to shore up the weaknesses of Kazakusan! That’s really all this deck is. We only run the good dragons, and we use them to ramp and get down Kazakusan quickly. If Kazakusan doesn’t offer us enough gas to kill the opponent, we’re not worried about that, because we can just take control tools instead, allowing us to swing back the board a couple times after playing Kil’jaeden. Our combo will never be faster than something like Champions or Dungar Druid, but we have a really good shot into everything else because of our sustained board pressure once Kazakusan comes down, and the inevitability of Kil’jaeden.
This deck only runs one copy of Juicy Psychmelon because it doesn’t have many duplicates to draw with a second one, and it needs time to find its dragons before Kazakusan can come down, anyway. This build of the deck is heavily anti-aggro, because the best way to win on ladder is often to find the matchups you’re good at and make sure you never lose those. Lunar Eclipse is a fantastic spell that works great with Rising Waves; y’all are sleeping on this ancient technology.
