Dollhouse Mage

(Created April 11th, 2018). I was going to wait to try this out but I just couldn’t help sharing this deck idea – maybe you all can help test it tomorrow. I call it Dollhouse Mage. The key is to use [[Dollmaster Dorian]] to cheat out 1/1 copies of spell damage minions, then use the remaining mana to launch cheap spells at the opponent’s face with +6 or more spell damage active.

Several cards will be crucial to this deck. The keystone of course is Dollmaster Dorian. A significant limitation to this deck, as with many combo decks, will be the need to draw Dorian. Sadly there are no good tutor mechanics to draw him, so we’ll have to make due with Mage’s typical card draw – [[Arcane Intellect]], [[Loothoarder]], [[Acolyte of Pain]], etc. We will not be running [[Gadgetzan Auctioneer]] due to cost, which is a great segue for our next card.

[[Hemet, Jungle Hunter]] will help this deck with consistency. While we cannot guarantee quick card draw of Dorian and certain cheap spells like [[Arcane Missiles]], we can use Hemet to set up our combo with only spell damage minions left in the deck.

Spell damage minions: we want to include [[Malygos]], of course, as well as 4 mana 2/2 +2 spell damage kobolds and the new + 2 spell damage moonkins. For draw consistency to guarantee at least 3 Dorian dolls we can throw in +1 spell dmg minions. The goal of this deck is not to get clean OTKs but rather to get a lot of burst damage for near-OTKs, so this minion addition could be acceptable. To actually get the 1/1 dolls we use book of specters, which should have no spells in the way once we Hemet (consideration of fireballs discussed soon).

We need cheap burn spells, so we will include arcane missiles, frostbolt, even the 3 mana deal 5 crap spell that was revealed. Fireballs are a consideration, but since they are not destroyed by Hemet they may disrupt the combo.

For consistency we will include Alexstrasza to lower the opponent’s health before using Hemet. Alex can also save us if we’ve been rushed down. Unfortunately for this deck Ice Block has rotated, but we can survive with secrets, mistress of mixtures, plated beatles, etc. We will not include Jaina, as she could disrupt the combo, but we can include Arcane Artificers for some healing.

For a higher chance of having 3 dolls pulled, we’ll include the shuffle minions manic soulcaster and the 2/2 banker

Here’s how a game with this deck will go:

Secret / freeze Mage style control. Cheap card draw as well. Draw Hemet, Dorian, some cheap spells (there will be plenty) and Book of Specters.

If you have Alexstrasza, play her – if not, she may disrupt your spell damage combo but will be a guaranteed late-game draw.

Play Hemet. For added security / damage fro arcane missiles, you can play a doomsayer alongside him (but then he can’t attack next turn). Next turn slam down Dorian and Book of Specters and start launching spells at their face. I don’t know how good this deck will end up being, but I think it sounds fun to pull off and could be good enough maybe for rank 10 or so.
