Mulligans

General Mulligans

Generally, this deck wants to aim for the lower bond of your curve and start building a wall. The deck has pretty significant amounts of AoE, so your early minions are pretty much fodder to keep your opponent's aggression in check until you can start controlling the board.

Defile is often excellent against aggro and token decks, so if you suspect that is the style you're opponent is playing I suggest keeping it.

Description

This deck takes the shell of the old Demon Renolock deck and stuffs it full of new toys.

It’s got a little bit of everything. A tiny smidgen of weapon-hate to deal with your paladin and warrior Deathknights (and also Frostmourne ) balances a generous serving of cheap taunt to try and hold off early game aggression. The deck has a selection of AoE’s and spot removals to suit any situation. It also features the choicest cuts of the Demon tribe allowing the deck to field a steady stream of threats.

Multiple cards in this deck can generate large amounts of value if not dealt with by your boorish opponents, from the mighty The Lich King through the humble Kabal Trafficker

It even features disruption in the form of a Dirty Rat and a Skulking Geist

And once your opponent is battered and bruised from the relentless onslaught of threats this deck is capable of playing. That’s when you play Bloodreaver Gul'dan and make them do it all over again.

But how does it perform?

This deck has been going about 50/50 for me so far on the ladder (at the time of writing I am a lowly rank 10), but I’ve already made a couple of cuts and additions to the list I started with. The Skulking Geist had to be added to the deck because I’ve run into a surprising number of Evolve shamans and even a few jade druids. While Krul the Unshackled still tends to sit in my hand and do very little, he also provides a way of getting demons with discard or self-harming battlecries onto the board. I think there’s quite a way to go before this deck could be considered optimized, and even then there is no guarantee it will perform once the meta settles. If you don’t already have the cards, I do not recommend crafting this deck.

But if you do have the cards, and you miss the old Renolock style of play, this deck can be pretty fun. If anyone has any critiques they’d like to offer, or substitutions to suggest I am open to feedback.
