Battlegrounds Card Database Now Available!
I’ve mentioned those bugs in the post :p And we’re already working on those!
And Dragons were mentioned a few times, first in some interviews with Mike Donais last November/December, and then more recently in some reddit posts etc. I can look for them later if you want.
Battlegrounds - Demons Nerf Coming This Week, Big Content "Right Around The Corner"!
Just to clarify – we don’t KNOW that Dragons will come out yet, just hope so! But devs have been teasing them ever since last November so it’s about time π
Galakrond (Control) Warlock Deck List Guide β Galakrond's Awakening β February 2020
Sorry, fixed it! I wanted to compare it to Microtech Controller but better, and then my brain somehow remembered that Cultist’s base stats are 2/1 and not 1/1 π
Galakrond (Control) Warlock Deck List Guide β Galakrond's Awakening β February 2020
That’s an interesting combo, I didn’t think about playing it with Spell Damage! I’ll definitely try it out π
Interview with Hearthstone Game Designers Dave Kosak & Stephen Chang β Galakrond's Awakening, a Year-Long Storyline, and the Shaman Fiasco
It’s true, Rogue also has no immediate tempo. But the difference is pretty massive, because Lackeys are always 1-drops and most of them are high tempo (only the Dragon one isn’t, arguably the spell one also might not be depending on what you get, but in Rogue there’s a high chance of getting a cheap spell). Random Priest minions are often clunky and unplayable until late into the game.
And I have to disagree, Priest Galakrond is bad. Or rather, it’s bad in the current meta. The card is useful in greedy matchups, where getting infinite value is very, very useful. But current meta has basically no Control decks – it’s all about Aggro, Tempo and Midrange. Matchups in which adding random Priest minions to your hand is worth even less than healing for 2.
It’s not about playing wrong lists, every single build registered by HSReplay (and frankly any build I’ve seen in general) has a poor win rate. Not completely “unplayable”, but just low Tier 3 or even Tier 4 bad. It’s just because the current meta is just terrible for true Control decks (which want to slowly grind out the opponent).

Not all characters are real – only the ones that get added to other, “official” media become real.
E.g. Reno Jackson is now real, because it was added to WoW a while ago. But when it was first invented, it was a HS-only character, so not canon.
I know that it’s weird, but it’s basically “HS stuff is not real unless it also happens in WoW or other media”.
But the entire Year of the Dragons storyline of Rafaam stealing Dalaran and awakening Galakrond is definitely NOT real π Hearthstone is a bit like “you sit in the Tavern, play card game and hear stories other people are telling” – those drunk stories might have some truth to them, but for the most part they’re made up.

Hearthstone isn’t canon. Whatever happens in the game is not “real” lore. Sometimes HS lore bits or characters are then added to other sources, but unless something is in WoW, books etc. it “didn’t happen” :p
That’s why I think that they might consider both ending “real” if that’s the end of story. If they want to continue it in the future, they will probably have to pick the “true” ending.
Risky Skipper Will Get a Pirate Tag, Zephrys is Getting Smarter, Boompistol Bully Fix, Reno Jackson and New Amalgam Possibly Coming to Battlegrounds
I would assume that it means 10x 1 damage, just like Reno the Relicologist works in Constructed.
And yes, you would probably win most of the early and mid game matches by using it. But the more you would press this Hero Power, the weaker you would become. 2 gold is a lot in the early/mid game, and it gives you no permanent advantage – e.g. no extra minions, no stats on the board, no extra gold over the long run.
Look at Ragnaros – his Hero Power dominates most of the early and mid game matches (2x 8 damage = you usually kill 2 minions immediately) and yet it’s a bad Hero. That’s because when you spend 2 mana Hero Powering instead of buying / rolling more, you get weaker. At one point (and pretty quickly in my experience) the extra stats your opponent has because he was spending the gold elsewhere lets him win against you even with your extra damage from HP.
And unlike Ragnaros, this comes with a restriction too. You could most likely still go for triples, but not being able to drop a duplicate on the board is a huge disadvantage. Buying something and not playing it when you still have space on the board in the early/mid game is often a suicide, because even just a few stat points make a big difference.
It probably wouldn’t be the WORST Hero Power in the game, but it would be one of the least useful ones.
Tavern Brawl - All-Star Squad
I wrote slow start when I thought that the Brawl is Wild like it was last time. In Wild there are faster strategies like Patches (full board of 1/1’s on Turn 1) or let’s say Mechwarper (full board of 2/3’s on Turn 2 when going second).
Changed it since the Brawl is in Standard and Pogo is basically the best strategy.
More Legends Players in Wild than in Standard on Chinese Server for the Last 4 Months
Haven’t heard anything about Wild Open 2020, but I hope that it will happen π
Embiggen Druid Deck List Guide β Galakrond's Awakening β January 2020
I kind of disagree – the deck was already playable earlier, Winged Guardian just made players experiment with the deck more and find optimal builds + realize that. I played Embiggen Druid before Galakrond’s Awakening and it was already pretty solid. Of course, Winged Guardian made it better, but it’s definitely not one of the most important cards in the deck.
At any given meta, there are probably a few good decks that haven’t been discovered (or only see off-meta play because general playerbase doesn’t realize how good they are).
Mike Donais (Update: And Peter Whalen) No Longer Working on Hearthstone, Still At Blizzard
Before Discover, all cards that added random cards to your deck added… exactly that, completely random cards. So I think that Discover was a big improvement in that matter. It was even more inconsistent and RNG.
And I know that you guys didn’t always like their card design or balance decisions, but both Mike and Peter were amazing designers.
Galakrond's Awakening Meta Decks (Week 2) - Best Hearthstone Pro & Streamer Deck Lists For All Classes
It doesn’t mean that no Hunter decks are being played, we’re just adding decks from pros & streamers here who post them or play live. And it just happens that we didn’t get those yet (or maybe I just missed them).
Hunter has seen a bunch of play last week and those decks are still viable. It’s definitely not a bad time to be a Hunter! Highlander, Quest and Face builds are all still viable.
Embiggen Druid Deck List Guide β Galakrond's Awakening β January 2020
Evasive Drakonid is an okay replacement, but Winged Guardian is much better.
Total stats are the same, although I’d argue that 6/8 is a slightly better distribution. Tribes are also similar – Dragon tag is an upside when it comes to Breath of Dreams / Scalerider / Frizz (if you run it of course), but then the Beast tag is an upside because of Witching Hour and Dragonmaw Poacher (which is getting more and more popular as a tech card). But Winged Guardian has extra Reborn, which makes a big difference. Opponents often need to run another mid-sized minion into it to kill it or sometimes even drop an AoE, since they can’t single target remove it because of Elusive. It also makes your board more resistant to AoE clears – e.g. after Warlock drops Twisting Nether, you will still have a 6/1 up. That Reborn part alone has won me a bunch of games.
Long story short – if you just want to test out the deck, you can use Evasive Drakonid and it will be okay. But if you want to run the deck seriously, I’d recommend buying Chapter 1.
Masters Tour Arlington Survival Guide (January 31 - February 2)
I really hope that they figure out drops on YouTube and bring them back soon. I never watched tournaments just for the packs, but they were a welcome addition!
Battlegrounds Matchmaking Update - Need 3 Turns To Fight Against The Same Player Instead of 2
In-game matchmaking against other players is just random there’s no hidden rating or anything.
Battlegrounds Matchmaking Update - Need 3 Turns To Fight Against The Same Player Instead of 2
Maybe the changes rolled out a bit later on EU server, I wouldn’t be surprised.
And yeah, facing AFK in Round 3 really sucks. I’m not a big fan of that Hero design. It’s fun to play as, but it’s not fun for the few players facing you in R3 and the next couple of rounds (when you still have an advantage).
Galakrondβs Awakening Heroic Guide β Chapter 2 (Clash at Wyrmrest)
Wait, what? I think that was just a coincidence, because current Hearthstone AI definitely can’t realize that you run Mecha’thun build and do pro plays like that to deny it π
Thanks for reporting – I’ve already sent both of those for devs to update! Sadly there’s no way for me to add / change BG cards yet (devs need to do it manually), but that’s also something we’re working on.
