"Darkmoon Races" Hearthstone Mini-Set Launches January 21, 35 New Cards, Full Set Available For $14.99 or 2000 Gold
2k gold is definitely a more efficient way to get the entire set than packs. Even with just 2 Legendaries, you would need to get EXTREMELY lucky to get both of them in 20 packs (and that’s assuming you already have all of the previous Darkmoon Legendaries, otherwise you could unpack some of those).
But lots of players already hoarded packs, so for them it might be worth it more to get it from packs (e.g. I have 50+ DF packs lol).
P.S. We’ll have an article about the economic side of the mini-set, probably tomorrow!

I’m holding onto like 50 DF packs because I thought that we’ll need to unpack all the new cards π If I knew I would just spend less gold on launch and keep that 2k for the mini-set. But well, at least now I’ll know for the future.
Hearthstoneβs Classic Legendaries: Where Are They Now?
Hahah, I also remember unpacking Hogger back in the Beta, shortly after I started playing. The card looked so OP I put it into every single deck. INFINITE VALUE, amrite? And it actually was working really well back when most people were playing bad homebrew decks. Fun times.

I was thinking that they might give the new core set for free to everyone like I’ve mentioned in another comment. Again, it’s just something I’m hoping they do, but it would make most sense.
And I’m not really worried, because if it’s terrible and people don’t like it, there will be another outrage and they will be forced to change it again… In the end, new progression system turned out to be much better than the old one, so it was worth it.
But let’s wait until they announce it before judging it, okay? I can’t talk about something that we don’t have any information about.
Iksar's Twitter Q&A - January 13, 2021 - Roundup of All Answers
I’ve seen it, but I try to not post any leaks, only official, confirmed info. But if that’s true, then it’s really affordable.
We’ll see next week anyway π
Iksar's Twitter Q&A - January 13, 2021 - Roundup of All Answers
I don’t know where you got that from (that they’re leaving the game with only expansions). I’m 99.9% sure that they won’t just take away Classic and leave the game without it… It would be the most stupid thing they can do and I’m sure they know that.
And they probably wouldn’t call just removing a Classic set a “rework”, lol.
Iksar's Twitter Q&A - January 13, 2021 - Roundup of All Answers
You know what, I agree, but it’s more of an universal truth. Never trust something until you see it π It has been proven time and time again to not buy into hype about anything and just wait until it’s out and then judge it.
That said, if anything, I believe that because of the Battle Pass outrage they will NOT do the same thing again just few months later. They’ve seen how the community can react if something is taken away from them and they get a worse outcome. They just can’t afford to make the same mistake again so soon.
I really think that we’ll get a core set for free or something similar (and that’s why they won’t compensate for HoF, because we get new “replacements” for free). Of course I’m not saying that it will 100% happen because I just don’t know, but it would make most sense for me.
In this case, Iksar said that it’s complicated and he can’t answer the question just because he doesn’t want to spoil anything before official announcement – the fact that they’ve teased it in the first place is already kind of surprising.
Iksar's Twitter Q&A - January 13, 2021 - Roundup of All Answers
I know that many people hated Raza Priest (and many still do in Wild), but it was one of my favorite decks ever. There was just something really fun about shooting your Hero Power like a machine gun.
It would be interesting if Priest had an option to take a more offensive route instead of constantly relying on Control and big minions / resurrecting strategies.
Iksar's Twitter Q&A - January 13, 2021 - Roundup of All Answers
To be honest, even if someone asks (and many people do), it’s not like Iksar can answer the question. We just had a huge drama around Battle Pass and I’m sure that they no longer want to promise players anything if they aren’t 100% sure that they will deliver. The only thing he could say is some PR statement that doesn’t tell us anything.
Plus, he’s a designer, so he’s mostly responsible for things like card mechanics, balance, game modes etc. and not necessarily monetization.

No news π I would also love to learn more, but they haven’t shared anything yet. We’ll post about it as soon as we learn something, though.

I’ve seen some people cutting it for SI:7 too.
I still think that Edwin is the way to go, but it’s no longer a staple it used to be. Honestly, this nerf worked better than I suspected – I thought that it would be unplayable at 4, and it turns out to be just fine (at least in this specific deck).

No clue yet, but probably yes, since official HS tournaments have been nearly exclusively Standard for years now.

I don’t think so, since they’re just fanart. But I would also love to see some of them in game!
Top Standard & Wild Legend Decks - Darkmoon Faire Week 8 - January 2021
My biggest hope is that they make the entire core set free. The game is already expensive enough, so it would be amazing for new players to be able to get into the game and actually own a bunch of solid cards they can play immediately.
The core set could contain some cards from current Classic, some cards from older expansions and some cards newly created just for that purpose. Librams or Lightforged (Pure) cards would make a great add. It would make sense to add Paladin some class identity in core set, because right now it doesn’t have one.
Of course, that’s just what I would love to see, it probably won’t happen, but one can dream π Still, I can’t wait to learn more about the Classic rework and what they’re planning. Besides the Battle Pass issues (which have been fixed already) the game has been heading in the right direction for a while now.
Upcoming Expansion's Rewards Track Will Have 100 Levels Instead of 50 (With Same Rewards & XP Required)
I thought that saying “instead of 50” made it clear. Because right now we have 50 base levels, not 50 levels in total.
But I’ll edit it to be more clear.
And I agree, communication should be much better over the last 2 months, but it’s better late than never.
Iksar's Comments About Achievements, Bug Fixes, Balance Update & Mini-Set
Yes, it also happens to me, it looks like more achievements are slowly loading and when I try to scroll while they’re still loading it gets all choppy. I just wait a bit before starting to scroll and it works fine then. But I hope that it gets fixed soon.
The Oppression of Soul Demon Hunter Is Over and Control Decks Are Back in the Meta
Hey, I’m waiting to see if they announce a nerf patch over the next few days, and if not then I’ll cover it this week.
2020 in Hearthstone - A Recap of the Passing Year
Yes, AFK farming XP is a problem and I hope that Blizzard addresses it. While I haven’t faced any AFKers myself, it happens and Blizzard should send a warning first and then if people continue doing it give them a short ban or something (like 24h… then maybe 3 days if they continue and so on).
But as for the XP required to level up and get Gold – you’re forgetting about Weekly Quests, which are nearly half of the Quest XP. So if you count only Daily Quests, you earn less… but you get a big chunk of gold for finishing your Weeklies too.
6k from Weekly + 7k from Daily = 13k = ~9 levels per week (after 50) = 450 gold per week = 64 gold per day on average just from doing your Quests, it doesn’t count any XP you’re getting from. So it’s still more than we had previously.

We don’t have one yet, but we’ll try to cover it soon π
WIth 13 packs you won’t even get all Rares. Probably all Commons, but it depends on how many of them are in the set. Then 2-3 Epics and 0 Legendaries on average (unless you get lucky).
