Mulligans
General Mulligans
Generally you won't be able to do much in the early game except gaining armour. Ramping into Oaken Summons is the best early game option for this deck. Keep wrath to deal with low health minion (pally and hunter) and to cycle.
The main objective of this deck is to pull off a one turn kill using the new Witching Hour card which resurrects a random friendly beast. Essentially the combo works after a little bit of set up. First you must set up your twig to be broken on the turn you are going to kill your opponent, as well as having had one of your 2 charged devilsaurs die. You need to have at least both of your Witching Hours and Faceless Manipulators in hand. Having Branching Spores is not essential but it can be helpful for pulling of an OTK if you don’t have twig set up in a last ditch effort if you are about to die. Ill explain both otk’s.
OTK 1:
This is the OTK you will be planning on pulling off.
It goes Witching Hour x2 for 2 Charged devilsaurs into Hero power and breaking the Twig onto your opponents face. With the 10 mana you get from that you use x2 Faceless Manipulator for a 30 damage combo. Branching paths or Evolving Spores can be used after the use of the 2 Witching Hours to provide a little more damage if you need to get through more than 30 health.
OTK 2:
This option is for when you do not have your Twig set up ready to break. You need to have a Charged devilsaur dead as before, but instead of breaking the twig into x2 Faceless. You just play Witching Hour x2 into Evolving Spores and pray for windfury.
It is important to note that this OTK cannot go through taunt so it is essential to focus killing taunt minions before the OTK turn.
Another win condition of this deck is milling your opponent. This deck is extremely effective against slow control decks that require certain pieces to succeed. Forest Guide may seem counter intuitive but comboing it with Naturalize has won me many games against control decks like Shudderwock Shaman after milling key cards. Further card draw is essential for this deck. Focusing on drawing as many cards without milling yourself and building massive amounts of armour is how this card makes it to the OTK. This deck has the hardest time against decks that go wide like Bake Pally (this decks worst matchup) but a good draw getting swipe and oaken summon to clear the silver hand recruits before level up is essential for winning in that match up.
Hope you try this deck out, it feels so good to OTK a shaman before they waste 20 minutes of your life, or milling their Grumble. This deck is actually also surprisingly competitive, even against faster decks. Takes some time to understand the nuance of the deck but it really works.
