Mulligans

General Mulligans

The relic package is the heart of the deck, so those are typically the cards we want to keep in the mulligan. Illidari studies makes for a good early game flexible card that can often give you a card suited for your current situation.

Aggro Mulligans

Again look for the relic package cards, but its okay to keep cards like the taste of chaos or even a unleash fel if you are on coin and have either an enchanter or silvermoon arcanist

Combo Mulligans

Relic cards is good, else we are looking for our disruption cards to make it harder for our opponent to either make it to their combo or pull off their combo.

Control Mulligans

Relic cards is always the most important, but in this case we also want to look for cards that generate value - I have chosen to highlight Photographer Fizzle, but other options such as Jotun, the eternal can also be good keeps in these types of match ups.

This is the Relic Demonhunter list I personally used to get Legend in Season 119. Currently I sit at Rank 158 on the EU server. The deck includes all the “obvious” cards, such as the relic package, Fizzle, Silvermoon with unleash fel and of course Astalor. So what does make this deck different? I have added in a fair amount of dissruption to the deck with cards like; Blademaster Okani, Prosecutor Mel’tranix and Speaker Stomper. These three cards helps with two major things. Number one they can make your opponents key turns awkward or borderline unplayable, secondly and just as important is that these cards can make your big boards almost untouchable. In turn these tech cards can be incredibly powerful when played on the right turns. Next up on the list is Jotun, the eternal – This card synergizes extremely well with the relic package. This card basically gives you extra copies of your relics that you get to play for free, making it possible to reach new heights with your relics. Jotun is also the reason I chose to put in the two copies of Runic adornment, not only because Runic Adornment on its own is a good card, but because the copies that Runic adornment puts in your deck will also be cast by Jotun. So that means you are getting two casts of the same spell, and why is that good beyond the fact that its two casts of the same spell you might ask? That’s because of Runic adornments limited cardpool to generate from. It’s only able to generate specifically spells that cost three or less, and boy there are some good ones to choose from! To note a few of the good options; Relic of extinction, Relic of phantasms and Unleash fel. I have also added in two copies of Enchanter, it just adds a lot of extra survivability to the deck, because you no longer rely so heavily on drawing the Silvermoon arcanist. It also makes it possible to clear large boards with the combination of silvermoon arcanist, unleash fel and enchanter – which does a whopping six damage to all enemy minions. It can also be used early against more aggressive decks to help you stabalize a board – a few examples of this could be; It’s turn four, your opponent has a school teacher on the board – you can now play enchanter and kill that school teacher with a Taste of choas. You can use enchanter to make more favourable trades when you have smaller boards, enchanter can also be used with Argus, the emerald star. Here you can benefit from the fact that minions played on the left side of argus gains rush, so in combination you have rush minions that all of sudden deal double damage to enemy minions. (This also applies to the lifesteal aspect of Argus)

Other notes:

Jotun will cast your Fizzle snapshot if drawn as the first spell in a turn, giving you access to two copies of the snapshot. Jotun also works on your opponents turn, an example of this is that you have blood mage thalnos down on the board and your opponent kills it – making you draw a card on their turn. If this card is a spell Jotuns effect will trigger and cast the spell.

When given the choice to pick up a Tough Crowd from your Illidari studies remember that it is able to target your minions too. Returning minions like Artificer xymox or Astalor can be very powerful moves to make. You can also get a Tough Crowd from your Felerin, the forgotten.
