As discussed early, we just want ways build a board and control it early. Nothing huge, we aren't zoo, but thicc poisonous boiz spook most people and slow things down. Our 3 damage direct spells are premium early and can lead to free copies if we mull/draw into Tamsin Roame.

This deck is my take on the “no deck” warlock I saw on YouTube. I don’t like not having a deck, in fact you could say it’s against my nature, so I decided to create an artificial advantage. I’ve had many games with this deck that have left me in stitches as my opponent concedes after burning combo pieces away. Many more leaving the enemy without a deck entirely. I’ve lost many, I’ve won more, but every game taught me… this deck feckin’ hates me. Despite that, it does its job well, and deserves to be shared.

–The Plan

Turn 8; Twisting Nether to clear and corrupt Tickatus, and in a perfect world drop a corrupt Strongman for a free 6/6, tap to find Old God bits. Turn 9; We want to be proactive here and drop our corrupt Tickatus and Tamsin or a Scorpid. Give them things to look at and say “oh no thank you…” Turn 10; Become Death, Destroyer of Worlds. Drop our Y’Shaarj for a free Tickatus, and any other goodies you managed to corrupt along the way, and wipe away another 5 cards.

In most games you’ve won at this point. Assuming they run C’thun as well, you most likely ate at least one piece, so no finisher there. In control games against other slow decks, you have the advantage with Rustwix and deck burning. In a faster match you can totally stall out.

Early versions of this deck went for less corruptors (8,9,10 cost) and more removal early (hysteria, unstable felbolt, etc) but I’ve found that the one thing you can’t fix is RNG. To that end, the biggest threat will be drawing our top end before we can get control of the board. Some games you’ll be tossing School Spirits just to clear your hand… others you’ll be hoarding them for the right moment because all you have is top-end. I also run a variation using Felosophy instead of a 2nd Spirit Jailer. It bore fruit with the ability to cast 3 and 4 corrupt Tickatus but in each game I managed to do so… the enemy never burned more than 2-3 cards on the 3rd Tickatus. By the time we reach his part in the play, the crowd just doesn’t have the energy for multiple climaxes. Sorry, I hate to be THAT guy.

We want some nice slow early removal. Anything over 4 cost must go. Early combos worth mentioning; Animated Broomstick + Venomous Scorpid and Tasmin + Drain Soul (5 mana lifesteal fireball?).

–Final notes

This deck is all about slowing yourself down as much as the enemy. There are very few situations where it’s worth using combo pieces outside the combo. Tickatus should not be burning our deck! We run enough utility to manipulate the field long enough for the cavalry to arrive. Dream with me, my Devoted Chosen, as we bring a new nightmare to the ladder.
