Deck Import

This Aggro Druid deck is relatively new to the meta. It still relies heavily on Druid’s combination of late game burst in Force of Nature and Savage Roar, but punishes your opponent faster in the early game to make even a single Savage Roar a lethal proposition. The deck deviates from Midrange Druid in the early game, there’s no Wild Growth and Wrath, and in the late game there’s no Ancient of Lore. Leper Gnome, Druid of the Saber, and Knife Juggler all make appearances in an attempt to push damage early in the game. Your mid-game is also very strong, Piloted Shredder into Fel Reaver is a punishing combo, and we’ll see if Big Game Hunter starts to creep more heavily into the meta because of Reaver.

Aggro Druid Deck List Update – April 2016 (Season 25)

Savage Combatant has seen its way out of the deck. It’s a bit slow, and has been replaced by a second Leper Gnome.

Aggro Druid Mulligan Guide and Strategy

You’re looking for your zeroes, ones, and twos: Innervate, Living Roots, Leper Gnome, Knife Juggler, Darnassus Aspirant, and Druid of the Saber. Keep Shade of Naxxramas if you have a one and a two already. You can keep a four drop (Piloted Shredder, and Keeper of the Grove) if you have a one and two and you’re on coin.

Aggro Druid Tech Cards

You will see some Aggro Druid decks running Mounted Raptor instead of Shade of Naxxramas. Shade can be a huge threat, and is usually pretty hard to deal with on turn 3, but beware of playing into AOE like Consecration and Holy Nova. You could potentially slip in a Loatheb which would help finish games off and allow your board to stay intact for a turn.

Aggro Druid Card Substitutions (Replacements)

Keep in mind that replacements for cards are rarely ever going to be perfect. It’s usually easiest to try and come close to what the card accomplishes, or double up an already existing card in the deck.

  • Fel Reaver: A lot of people seem to hate Fel Reaver, but it’s a very strong card in this deck and is hard to replace. Yes, there are times when it can lose you a game, but those times are far outweighed by how often it WINS you games. Ancient Shade is an okay-ish, replacement. The 4-health is really where it fails to measure up to Fel Reaver. Savage Combatant is another potential option, but you’ll really lack in real threats.
  • Sir Finley Mrrgglton: This is a pretty solid card in the deck, but you could get away with a Flame Juggler or something low cost and aggressive.

Aggro Druid Combos and Synergies

The Druid combo is very important here, but Savage Roar is such a standout in this deck. Just having a few minions on board is very threatening to your opponent because of it.

Knife Juggler pairs nicely with Living Roots and Force of Nature.

    Any replacements for Sir Finley?

if hunter and warlock hero powers are not choices, what hero power would you want from sir finley? the druid hero power is pretty agressive already, so what would you do if you don’t have these 2 hero powers available?

Could you replace the fel reavers with ancient shades or venture co mercenary’s?

I think Ancient Shade could work, but Venture Co. could limit your next turn if it eats an Aldor Peacekeeper.

(response to self) I have used ancient shade a few times and its worked pretty well, just wondering if it can take me into high ranks this way?

I think your winrate will be a bit worse without the Fel Reaver, but you should be able to get to legend with this list. It isn’t as good as it once was though.

after using this deck for a bit, it is indeed good. however, when ever i used fel reaver turn 5. my opponent would always counter it somehow. the worst being someone using aldor peacekeeper, making it useless. i switched it out for emperor so i could get double savage roar when i use my force of nature. would recommend this deck!

I’ve found sea giants to be a better fit than fel reavers

I used this deck but with only 1 SR/FoN combo and it got me to ranked 12. I know 12 isnt all that good but its the farthest ive gotten so far.

I enjoy the quickness of the deck. Its very easy to win the game in 5-8 turns and ive even won on turn 4 with lucky card draw. (and bad opp trades)

With Fel Reaver, NEVER have both on the board at the same time. That just spells disaster. Espically late in the game. Half your deck could be gone in one turn.

Sir Finley Mrrgglton! Perfect card for this deck. I’ve been getting Hunter hero power very consistently. But even if you don’t get offered Hunter hero power their are quite a few other hero powers that are better for this deck. For example Rogue’s weapon is better because you can attack two turns instead of one and the +1 armor gain is not needed. Mage’s hero power gives you the same 1 damage without the fear of taking damage yourself if there is an enemy minion you need to remove. Paladin gives you recruits which can consistently do one damage each if they stay on board and they have synergy with savage roar. Card draw from Warlock’s hero power which is great and being an aggro deck you don’t have to stress about the damage. Hell even Shaman’s hero power isn’t too bad for this deck. The only two hero powers you don’t want is Priest and Warrior. So worst case scenario you might get offered Warrior, Priest and Shaman. I replaced one copy of Leper Gnome because Finley has a better body and will stick around longer to make up for some lost damage from Gnome, but also you make up the damage with the new hero power.

This deck has absolutely no card draw, you rely completely on perfect curve AND your opponent not having answers.

I just crushed this deck with dreadsteed warlock: 2 Mortal Coils on Leper Gnomes, Unstable Ghoul against double roots, turn 4 I play Voidcaller and druid instantly concedes.

    Bad deck.

there is no way you went legend with this deck, its not THAT good.

        January 20, 2016 at 3:07 pm

I went to legend with this deck, before Sir Finley. I am also running the 3-drop 3/2 raptors instead of the shades of naxxramas. It was my first time reaching legend, and I did it at the end of November. After taking December off, I still use this deck to climb, and it’s been pretty steady.

It out-values strictly aggro decks, like face hunter. Usually, it’s quick enough (with the right savage roar timing) to burst down control.

Timing is key. I’ve played 400 games with it, easily, and that makes all the difference.

Hey guys. I just wanted to say that I’ve persisted with this deck quite a bit and I’ve found that running two copies of Ancient Shade works really well with this deck. Yes you get the curse but that’s one more card to be milled rather than a card in your deck. Every now and then you will get hit with the curse but it’s pretty rare and playing as an aggro deck it doesn’t really matter too much because you aim to finish early. The Ancient Shades also bait removal from your opponent which is less removal they have to use on your Fel Reaver. Since running Ancient Shades I’ve found that my win rate has generally improved. I cut one Force of Nature and Savage Combatant to make room.

I have replaced shade with Mounted Raptor, i think it serves the purpose of the deck better, it is sticky without the need of stealth and helps you build up a board for savage roar. While shade does that too if you keep it stealthed, it wont do any dmg in the meantime.

I’m also running one loatheb instead of fel reaver in order to protect my board when i know a crowd clearing spell is coming.

Lastly i have 2 arcane golems instead of keepers of the grove. They have won me a lot of games when i have 6 mana. Savage roar and arcane golem with at least 2 minions down makes a decent enough finisher when you dont have the mana for force/savage. It kinda feels like the meta has too little taunts so i hardly ever need to silence anything.

i climbed from rank 10 to rank 5 in less than 3 hours with this deck tho. I dont have a tracker but I’m pretty sure the win rate was off the charts

So, I made this deck a while back, but I called it Wacky Face Druid. Mine was more aggro than this, and allows for quicker kills, and less need to wait on the Roar/Force combo. Here’s my replacements:

    In-
    Naturalize x2
    Abusive Sergeant x2
    Ironbeak Owl x2
    Arcane Golem x2
    Leroy Jenkins x1
    and add 1 more Combatant

    Out-
    Darnassus Aspirant x2
    Shade of Naxxramas x2
    Piloted Shredder x2
    Fel Reaver x2
Knife Juggler x2 ***(Now if you want to keep the Jugglers in, I’m ok with that. Probably sub out the Naturalizes. I just like more card destruction to hit face, or in case biggins come out early and I need to clear the board.)***

Would subbing the Savage Combatant for a Cult Master be a better solution for saving a bad hand?

    • Evident - Author
      November 17, 2015 at 8:32 am

This is a more aggressive deck so you won’t generally want to be trading your minions that much. Cult Master is kind of a slow card so I don’t think it fits here.

I could see ancient shade getting played in place of the Fel Reavers even.

    • Enzzo
      November 15, 2015 at 7:41 am

Tried it, didn’t work. The 4 health means they get traded for your opponent’s Piloted Shredder, or PO’d Egg; they’re also good targets for Swipe and Shadowbolt. Then RNG can screw you with the curse.

Any tech cards against midrange paladin?

    • Enzzo

Harrison Jones, since pretty much any class that can play weapons does. Getting rid of one charge of Truesilver Champion is good.

It’s said that Fel Reaver is one of the strongest cards in this deck. Can you explain to me why it is? Isn’t milling yourself extremely bad, as it’s easy for you to fatigue? Not doubting your list, it’s just for clarification!

By the way, I got Troggzor the Earthinator in a pack; keep or dust?

    • Evident - Author
      November 9, 2015 at 8:05 am

It’s not a GREAT thing to mill yourself, but it only really matters if it mills your entire deck. Think about it this way, Fel Reaver is an aggro card, and how often are games going beyond turn 10 when you play aggro (you’ve either won or lost by that point)? This means most of your deck made no impact on the match, so it’s best to think about the cards you burn as being on the bottom of your deck. Learn more with this article: http://bmkgaming.com/understanding-fel-reaver-hearthstone-theory/

I would keep Troggzor, especially with the new adventure on the way you never know what deck could spawn out of it. I think Troggzor is on the borderline of being playable. That being said, if you really needed the dust then it might be worth dusting.

        November 10, 2015 at 7:41 am

That’s really interesting. I really like the idea of punishing opponents so early on in the game. Still, I have a couple of questions (kind of a lot, sorry in advance).

1.) Is silencing Fel Reaver on turn 6 worth it? Or should I just save the keeper for something else?
2.) What cards from the new adventures might see play in Aggro Druid or Midrange Druid?
3.) What are the worst matchups for Aggro Druid?
4.) What are the worst matchups for Midrange Druid?
5.) Without Fel Reavers, should I just stick to Midrange Druid, or play Aggro Druid? I want a deck that can handle an aggro and control meta decently well.

        • Evident - Author
          November 10, 2015 at 8:41 am

          1. It’s generally not worth it, the silence would be better targeting a taunt minion to get in damage.
          2. I don’t think any of the cards will see play in the decks.
          3. Midrange Hunter, Midrange Paladin, Dragon Priest, and Zoo.
          4. Tempo Mage, Aggro Druid, and Dragon Priest.
          5. I would stick with Midrange Druid if you don’t have Fel Reavers.

      Argent Horserider might work.

    • 7heprofessor
      November 18, 2015 at 6:29 pm

After the next LoE wing, I highly recommend Mounted Raptor. For now, Evident mentioned Horserider as a solid choice.

  21. Headhunter
    October 27, 2015 at 8:54 pm

I’m not sure this deck is viable past rank 5. My reaver gets frozen multiple times, has his attack turned to 1, they taunt up so you cant attack their hero, execute by warrior, then they just burn through your deck and you die of fatigue. I’ve been fatigued before turn 10 a bunch of times.

Is Wrath not missed? I play double FoN/SR-combo with Living Roots, Wrath, and Swipe ATM, and love controlling the board. The lust seems like a blast, definately going to try it.

    • Evident - Author
      October 27, 2015 at 9:11 am

I haven’t missed it, but I play the deck more aggressively.

  24. Headhunter
    October 26, 2015 at 5:44 pm

Should you only play feel reaver early? Because every time I have played it turn 5 or 6 my opponent proceeds to kill my reaver but not before destroying most my deck.

    • Evident - Author
      October 26, 2015 at 7:16 pm

I haven’t had an issue with playing it early, but it’s always best to try and bait out removal beforehand with something like Piloted Shredder.

Instead of fell reaver, what can I replace it with?

    • Evident - Author

Piloted Sky Golem, but Fel Reaver is really good in this deck.

      • Fluffy
        October 27, 2015 at 1:40 pm

Tried it with Loatheb instead of a reaver, worked fine.

          November 6, 2015 at 11:14 am

Replace it with a Venture Merc. Both are extremely underpriced 5-drops with a backside: if they don’t win the game by themselves, you are in a BAD spot.

    • Bryan
      October 31, 2015 at 1:03 pm

Stranglethorn Tiger would probably be a better replacement than Sky Golem.

  26. Schlumys
    October 23, 2015 at 2:10 pm

got this deck to rank 9 from 15 no problem, worked a lot faster than tempo mage. Really good matchup against face hunters. Good matchup against secret paladin, you will win depending on who has the better starting hand. Bad matchups are pretty much against any druid and control warriors.
Does well against dragon priest if you can kill it down fast like with fel reaver for example.

for me is a not solid deck i think ramp druid is better
