With some exciting additions from the new Journey to Un’Goro expansion, Zoolock promises to come back stronger than ever in the new meta that will start in early April.

This deck is my Theorycraft of how players could benefit from the new cards, especially the somehow controversial Lakkari Sacrifice, of whom some Pro players have already said that doesn’t fit well in the classic (or most aggresive) Zoolock archetype.

The deck aims to be somehow aggresive, and give the player the chance of selecting as much as possible which cards we wants to get rid of with the Discard mechanics. But also, the Warlock hero power provides the player the chance to literally never run out of steam, which, along with the Nether Portal, provides a very interesting mid-late game.

The core of this archetype is what we call the Discard package: fourteen cards which are reliant on the Discard mechanic.

  • Lakkari Sacrifice : certainly not the fastest of strategies, but the reward seems to be worth the effort in this particular deck, since you can get to discard up to 12 cards.
  • Malchezaar's Imp: although it is a 1-cost minion, its real power comes in the later stages of the game, in which it basically allows us to not care too much about discards, since it will refill our hand.
  • Soulfire: obviously a must have in this deck.
  • Clutchmother Zavas: an awesome way of generating value from your discards. It can get really big throughout the course of the game, and in the worst of cases it is a 2/2 body for two mana.
  • Darkshire Librarian: solid 3/2 stats for two mana, and you basically will get back your hand size as soon as you trade it into something. However, when combined with Malchezaar’s Imp, you will in fact gain card advantage from playing it.
  • Silverware Golem: basically another card that actually benefits from being discarded.
  • Lakkari Felhound: insane stats and a really effective anti-aggro tool, which however has a pretty volatile effect on your hand.
  • Doomguard: probably no need to highlight how amazing this card is in this deck archetype.

Besides the complete Discard package, most of the minions chosen for this deck can be considered real Zoolock classics: two copies of Flame Imp, Voidwalker Abusive Sergeant Dire Wolf Alpha and Knife Juggler give a guaranteed powerful start, while also two copies of Darkshire Councilman and one Crystalweaver reinforce the midrange side of the deck.
